1) He was going by bible literalism and a couple people felt he was attacking Christianity
2) Overall the event was a success, in the second link you see that most people enjoyed the event and in the third link Bill says he didn't feel heckled and even got a standing ovation
3) The only crazy thing I pull from this story is that someone willingly went to ******* Waco of all places.

Stop showing up your facts that prevent us from laughing at people while willingly ignoring the situation.

The ignorance of some people digusts me, and Bill Nye just takes it in stride. He da real mvp.

Listen...you're just as ignorant for not looking into the story and blindly believing this to be the whole truth. Blind faith in science is as ignorant as blind faith in religion.

I was a bit drunk when I wrote that and it came off dickish...not one of my prouder moments. Still, check this video, you'll see what I mean. What I mean is that people automatically assume any 'scientific' discovery is legitimate.

You have believed a post on the internet without checking its sources. You have just lowered yourself to the level of the people on tumblr that believed the image to the left is true.

Texas is more liberal than most people assume, Dallas for one is huge on gay pride and stuff, but why anyone would choose of their own volition to go to Waco of all places I have no ******* clue.

I've been to Dallas before and I have to say I agree. They seem much more relaxed about that kind of stuff and don't act like the stereotypical Texans mostly . And then you have Waco, the part of Texas that is so retarded that Texans want to deny it even exists.
User avatar #67 to #22 - slenderwolf (07/21/2014) [-]
I swell with pride when Texas is spoken about, but when Waco is brought up suddenly I'm Mexican

At least Waco created Dr Pepper.

Indeed, and Houston has a gay mayor who was trying to ban restrooms judging by gender and letting transgendered people go wherever they please.

Thankfully she got rid of that, because it's as simple as "if you have a dick, go in the men's room, if you have a pussy, go in the women's."

But yeah, I'm pretty pleased with how balanced most of Texas is politically speaking. No extremism either way.

People assume that since it's the southern most state it is also the most conservative, but I'm willing to bit Alabama and Mississippi have us beat.

As a Texan, I would just like to point out that Waco is the part of Texas that Texas always wants to forget. It isn't a recent occurrence either! Waco actually was so ****** up that they managed to be so racist that even the KKK said they need to tone down their racism! If you don;t believe me, just look up the lynching of Jesse Washington!
Here is the Wikipedia link to make your life a little easier. However, a word of warning, it's ****** up. So read at your own discretion!

I was just so confused for a good few minutes. I thought the title was saying Bill Nye boo'd someone in Texas for thinking that the moon reflects the sun. Then I scrolled down to the comments to see everyone calling Texas stupid, and for a moment, I was actually considering that maybe the moon didn't reflect the sun and I was just taught wrong.
