Why do bad things happen? God, karma, or happenstance. Why is it lucky? Well, the outrage isn't wasted.

It's called an experiment. He took the photo and checked if news would post it without asking him about the photo (I assume)

Yeah, but Syria is still a hellhole.

I'd post an image of actual gore from a bombing that just happened recently there, but I'd not want a ban.

Quatar (which is like Saudi Arabia linked to terrorists groups) found evidence of the Syrian Regime using WMD`s which got debunked by the UN but and everything was silent for months (also no media coverage) and now just right before the Genva they found evidence of Syria torturing people which the opposition would never do right?

Link to how the situation in Syria was in Sept. and picture is up-to-date

Doesn't civil war mean that a vast majority of civilians are fighting against the government ? (95% rebels are from other countries and heritage)

Well, Hezbollah is a Shia militia who doesn't follow radical Islam, they hate Zionism (that means they hate Israel) which is why they are marked as a terrorist group.

Al-Qaeda follows Wahhabi (Shariah Law pushing) and is created by the US who they also hate duo helping Zionists and for aiding radical extremist groups. (related: pastebin.com/E6HGQQTS)

To be fair, it is technically the job of the media to fact check their sources before posting the story. Unfortunately, due to today's media caring more about ratings than truth, we are forced to question the validity of even the simplest stories. It's pretty sad really, that we can't even feel sympathy for our fellow man without having to question the validity of the story. All this guy proved is that people will react with sympathy and caring to a perceived unfortunate situation, because that's part of our nature.
#89 to #87 - alimais (01/24/2014) [-]
>caring about ratings
You just have to check who is behind the so said media and what they want.

To be honest, people are in a rush and its not just for no reason whatsoever either, its because they are very aware of the fact that they have a limited time here on earth.
Meaning that they will just try and rush the judgement of whatever it is they are checking out.
If it says and looks like there are a kid and his two parents or whatever buried, then that is the most logical conclusion made in a second.
Ofcourse if one takes another 2-3 seconds of examination and thinking about the actual likelihood then you will realize that that might just not be all that likely.
Why would someone photo such a thing anyways, wouldn't that be whats it called sacrilege?
#46 - anon (01/24/2014) [-]
So a journalist just admitted that he is a liar?
I'd like to see how far his career goes.
#40 - Awesomecarrot (01/24/2014) [-]
You can't really blame the public for believing that. You can't
expect everyone to go and check the validity of every single
photo they see. You took a picture that looks exactly like a boy
lying between two graves, so why are you surprised when people
see the picture and think that it's a boy lying between two graves?
#52 to #40 - alimais (01/24/2014) [-]
If everyone would look for themselves what's happening somewhere in the world than there would be no wars. Then everyone would know that the Syrian regime doesn't even fight against other Syrians or that the "Autodefensas" in Mexico are farmes, normal workers etc. protecting themselves who had enough of the cartels.

>pic related : current situation in Mexico (the side stories are mostly made up)
#44 to #40 - themtaw (01/24/2014) [-]
While you may not expect the average person to check the validity of every picture they see you should expect news agencies to check every picture before they put it out to the public.

There is just no time.

Let's say someone sends a picture to your redaction. Presumambly you will be not the only one who recieved it.
And now it's about who can publish it first. You don't even have couple of hours to check it.

Similar experiments have been done, and the conclusion is always that most publishers don't bother asking questions.
User avatar #96 to #82 - alimais (01/24/2014) [-]
They could risk not publishing and therefore it won't spark a invasion of a country.
