This implies you can't even learn anything outside of school.

As for history related things? I knew 95% of of the things we "learned" about in highschool, outside of school before hand from personal research.

At least here in the United States, public education has become a corporation - or rather a machine based on the principle "Get as many kids in as possible, pass them with the easiest but 'acceptable' method. Get them out. Repeat."

They've dumbed it down so heavily now that everything (well, atleast most,) is based on standardized testing which is just based on regurgitation of information that you'll remember not much longer after your school career is over with.

Not to mention, there's no critical thinking in the class rooms. Especially in classes like Literature and History. Knowing all these facts is useless when you can't even explain them to someone outside of the definition you were told.
