everything happens for a reason, you may not understand it nor or even ever, but every reason is intertwined. you cant prove you or anyone else exist, you just have to hope that you do or else there is no point.

fist off yay for long posts

now for more serious matters. While it is true that the thought you posted could be true I will always choose not to believe it for two reasons. The first is that it is in effect useless. Any theory that states that all observations or truths cannot be trusted itself cannot be proved. Having a belief that nothing actually exists changes nothing about life, because in the end a person will still live following a simplified hedonistic worldview (seeking pleasure and avoiding pain). The second reason is that the belief in such a nebulous reality or a reality that is based of our own perceptions would imply that we could change the state of our own existence. If what happens is created entirely by the self then why does anything "bad" happen? If I am deciding the course of my life then why would I choose to have my parents die, or to lose my house, or to contract illness? Even beyond all that why could I allow myself to be a mortal man? If I am my own God of reality then shouldn't I be able to raise myself above others who only exist because of my own mind. which would seem to imply the existence of an outside force or the objective quantifiable existence of reality. But, once again regardless of either of those options the effect is the same and there is no change to a persons life so the thought is worthless.
now don't mistake this as saying that the idea is not interesting for its own sake but as far as a theory goes I would rather one that actually has an effect on my life.

This is actually a theory already out there. It's basically a conundrum asking how can you prove the whole universe wasn't created 2 seconds ago and we all just have the memories, or how can you prove that other people are actually people.

Oh, I was unaware this was official of some sort. Well, still a fun thing to think of.

You clearly don't know the meaning of a theory, OP, you phanact.
These sort of sophistries and pseudo-philosophy is basic as **** . The world exists whether you perceive it correctly or not, so piss off with your whole "ermagerd, reality doesn't necessarily exist" ******** .

Oh I do enjoy it, especially now that I can see life and morales and nothing. But I still abide them as though it was all real.

And everyone is a figment of your imagination, just as you are to them.

Oops, the content I thought would be the description, ignore the title.

Anyway, seriously speaking, I questioned that myself about three days ago, actually.

I pondered the notion of having no senses as well. Would there even be a "world".
#11 to #6 - konysugandanbitch (07/30/2013) [-]
I question it all the time, and then just go, "Why do I care, if it's a fake, it's a damn good fake, it's got games and fun stuff."
User avatar #12 to #11 - assistantartemis (07/30/2013) [-]
Well, at least you wonder and consider possibilities beyond just what is given to you as "the answer/s"

A mind that contemplates anything, even if random, shouldn't be shunned. The fact that you even were able to think about that whole scenario is... nice to see, I suppose.

Hah, yes, it is quite hard to grasp and understand it all.
User avatar #14 to #13 - assistantartemis (07/30/2013) [-]
Even if you never will understand much anything, it is entertaining to think about in the meantime.

Agreed.
