I had a personal disliking to Skyrim, it gave you this expansive world to explore, literally ginormous, but then relied on you entirely to make up stories in the situations you find.
I found an elven dagger on a alchemist with the dagger bearing the alchemist's name, no explanation, you're expected to think it up, no subtle clues to tell you what he may have been trying to do in such a secluded spot.

This is why I personally preferred Fallout 3 & New Vegas, it gave subtle clues that were enough to be able to figure out what happened in a room or building. It just had (personally of course) a better feel of immersion for me.
