I was just about to say... first time I saw the trailer I thought it was Hemsworth, next time I realized it was Pitt. Didn't realize they looked so similar.

I don't like this movie. I haven't even seen it, but all the posters at work are like "Also read the book " And I'm like " **** you, the book didn't have super fast zombies. The book had plenty of interesting stories to tell. Like, oh, I dunno. The one where the people rush the super rich folks bunker house thing. The French sewers. The Russian Decimations. That american F-22 pilot who got blasted out of her cargo plane. The battles of Yonkers and Hope. I heard some ******** that they just had some things inspired by the book because they didn't think a movie based entirely on the book would be interesting enough. **** you and everything you own you cocksucker. I've re-read the best parts of that book a hundred times, and you could totally make a kickass movie straight from it. A long one, with some slow bits, sure. But the action bits would definetely be amazing. Instead of the same old thing nowadays. Fast ******* zombies

Rant, part zwei:

And I'm ******* tired of fast zombies in a video game. Particularly in zombie survival situations, not shooters like Left 4 Dead. In a shooter, yes, fast, scary things. In a survival? When I'm clunkily running around and magically get spotted through buildings and **** ? The option to run the **** away and prepare a static defense at a choke point should be there. Getting swarmed in a heartbeat every ten seconds just because is annoying as **** . Not fun. And not challenging. Annoying.

TL;DR: Fast zombies are gay. Bring back slow, unrelenting terror!

I heard it was fantastic, top across across the board. GF is going halvsies on a PS4 and that game when we move in together. So looking forward to that.

Also, I'm aware its a PS3 thing. But, saving up for the house and all...
User avatar #35 to #34 - sisterblister (06/22/2013) [-]
best of luck to you two and on the game it is really slow just a pre warning its not what your used to in a game its more survival then zombies but so well worth the buy

I feel like there should of been a many part documentary series. Actually take the time to go into detail of each interview like the book did. Would of been the tits.
User avatar #64 to #29 - zafara (06/22/2013) [-]
Yeah, I bought the book yesterday, and I'm halfway through it. The book seems a lot better than the movie, according to several people. Looked up the plot on different websites including Wikipedia for the movie. Doesn't seem like they even read the book.

Spoiler alert
And that whole thing about zombies not attacking the terminally ill? Seriously, what the crap?
#65 to #64 - brokentrucker (06/22/2013) [-]
Wat

WAT

NO. gay. **** THAT MOVIE.
User avatar #68 to #65 - zafara (06/22/2013) [-]
Well, I did warn you about the spoilers. But I swear near the end is practically copied from the first Resident Evil movie, what with getting to the vault that holds the viruses or whatever that make people terminally ill. Guess how they manage to stop zombies from attacking people!

Apparently said facility had the cure to AIDS. So the end is like, people inject themselves with AIDS, escape/kill zombies who ignore them because they have a terminal disease, and take the cure when they are safe/done.

I actually own that from Desura and it hasn't updated in absolute ages. There are plenty of pre-release updates you can download and install, but I tend to prefer waiting for it to auto update, and it hasn't in ******* forever.
#75 to #29 - pridefulmatthew (06/22/2013) [-]
I ******* loved the book! I still am going to watch the movie though, because it is not based on the book in anyway its just another Zombie movie which I head was really really good.
#97 to #29 - rabbitturd (06/22/2013) [-]
IMO Dawn of the Dead (1978) is the best zombie movie out there. The zombies are perfectly balanced in it
User avatar #44 to #29 - demandsgayversion (06/22/2013) [-]
Well get over it. I read the book, but knowing it was different I went into the movie watching it as it's own thing. They didn't dismantle and **** up the story, it's not the same universe. They used the same title and that's it. It's a really good movie.

Also,
>I don't like this movie
>I haven't even seen it

Stop being a pretentious cunt.
User avatar #42 to #29 - forbesydemon (06/22/2013) [-]
One of my favourite parts is when they play Iron Maiden to draw out the zombies. Read "the ultimate zombie survival guide" if you haven't. It's written by the same guy and is an entire book on tips and strategies to survive, but most things can be applied to nearly all mass disasters etc.
User avatar #43 to #42 - brokentrucker (06/22/2013) [-]
Read that as well.

And the iron maiden thing was in the Battle of Hope.
#48 to #29 - nitsuan (06/22/2013) [-]
There could have been a great movie based off the book, but instead they went a different way. I saw it today and it was ok, but not World War Z greatness. In the least I hoped they would have some version of the Battle of Yonkers, but the only similarity I actually noticed was the UN Atlantic Fleet. I actually feel like going to read the book right now just to recapture the awesomeness of the book.

Dude I love you for saying all this. I really wanted a scene-for-scene remake of the book but I knew as soon as Brad Pitt got involved it wouldn't happen.

Also I'm sick of games with "special" zombies because those just aren't zombies to me, they're mutants. That's why the Walking Dead videogame was so awesome
User avatar #58 to #29 - dehfurk (06/22/2013) [-]
Yeah, this is definitely a situation where you are so much better off not reading the book and watching the movie. I am pretty much in your scenario where I've read the book multiple times and listened to the audio book even more. One time I was listening to it before I slept. If you want an epic zombie dream, I HIGHLY recommend this.

That aside, I am watching this movie with an open mind and with the idea that this movie is NOT based off of World War Z, no matter what people say. I will watch the movie as it is, a zombie movie. I am sure it's a good movie, just not the book I know and love. I love zombies and I like Brad Pitt as an actor. Good enough reasons for me.

Oh, and for anyone that might believe that Max Brooks (World War Z Author) was totally in on the movie and fast zombies and that the studio actually followed some of Max Brooks's words, here is a video to confirm Max Brooks total disapproval for the movie. youtu.be/8GypcD2lQi4

a lot of places (at least where i live) have started doing showings of movies at 8 and 10 even before the midnights, since the colorado shootings. Not that being out at 8 instead of 12 is any safer, but that's at least what the theater i work at is doing, so it is possible.

arnt those the same
#21 to #20 - disturbedmaster (06/22/2013) [-]
in a way the primary mechanics are the same but the ending tends to differ end of days movies end in total devastation that or a some ridiculous over done maracle that fixes everything meanwhile zombie movies tend to end with a awkward cliffhanger or a broken survival

God that movie ****** the book so hard, the only reason the rights were bought was for the title.
Honestly, that movie had the potential to be the greatest zombie movie ever made from the greatest zombie book ever made, but they decided "NOPE LET'S JUST DO THE EXACT SAME RETARDED **** THAT HAS ALWAYS FAILED"

But really, I think the book would be amazing if it were to be made into a TV series, each episode containing either one story or a few shorter ones. It would fit the structure of the book SO well.

User avatar #90 to #88 - gammajk (06/22/2013) [-]
Alright, I'll be fair - it wasn't a BAD zombie movie, there just wasn't much to set itself apart from others, it had a lot of glaring plot holes and, for a book-to-movie adaptation it wasn't set on the book AT ALL. If you just want to watch a zombie movie and not care about any of that, it's alright.

Yes, I would recommend it. It puts a very original twist on a genre that hasn't seen any originality in a while. Good action, good acting, very pretty visual effects, and some decent suspense and jump moments too.

Okay so I think what S/he's trying to say is after he said "hit him with your hammer!" someone threw their box of food at the screen and walked out.
