this my favorite one: “Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” - Marcus Aurelius

This is one of the reasons why I am an atheist/anti-theist. If I value reason over blind-faith any just god that I would want to be with for eternity would respect that, even though the existence of any God period is highly unlikely.

I just don't believe in any God but I'm not really anti theistic I don't care what people believe as long as they aren't a dick about it

Tell people there's an invisible man in the sky who created the universe, and the vast majority will believe you. Tell them the paint is wet, and they have to touch it to be sure.

I didn't have enough space, and I got tired of typing all of the quotes. I didn't copy and paste):

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? -- Epicurus

>With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things.
>good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things

>But for good people to do evil things, it takes religion

What's hard to understand? With or without religion there will be good people doing good things, and bad people doing bad things. But in order for good people to do bad things, it takes religion.

The quote is self-explanatory, I don't see whats hard to understand about it.

its implying that religion needs to be present in order for "good" people to do bad things

in other words, good (bad) people doing bad things only exist in religion

by simply being not a part of a religion doesnt automatically mean that people will start doing good things

the quote is atheist faggotry, not reasonable wisdom

It's not implying that religion is the only way for good people to do bad things. It just gives people a justifiable reason to do said things.

If you honestly can't interpret that simple quote for what it means, without regarding it as "atheist faggotry" then there is no argument here.

It disturbs me at just how adamant that religious people can be when they claim that they are right and you are wrong. Yet they provide no proof, it can be like arguing with a 10 year old.

Nice argument anon, totally proves me wrong when I say that people who argue like you don't use logic.

Sam Harris is awesome. Along with Dawkins and Hitchens.

One of my favorite quotes, I think it was Hume:
Which is more likely: That the whole natural order is suspended or that a Jewish minx should tell a lie?
