The stories have almost no similarity to each other, the only one that's close is Mithraism, which came after Jesus. Most of that stuff is made up or exaggerated.

I read the story of Horus and it did sound really similar to me.
>Born of a virgin
>In a cave (I know a cave is not a manger but it's close)
>Led there by a star.
>Visited by kings.
>Religious ceremony when he was 12
>No real data between 12 and 30.

The list goes on but that's just the before he was 30 stuff... Alot of things are vague such as some translations say that the "Egyptian book of the dead" Says swamp instead of cave but the agreed translation says virgin mother led by a star.

nope, that's made up in a weak attempt to 'disprove' christianity

I've researched it and other people have as well (It's on the BBC website somewhere)
and the only things Jesus did that Horus didn't was have 12 disciples and not get crucified.

Even if that's true about Osiris reviving his wife to **** her, she was still supposedly a Virgin... I watched a BBC documentary on it (I'll link it if i find it later) And they claimed all this as true.

What does "Zeitgeist" mean?

The attitude of a society reflected in it's philosophy. Not sure what it has to do with this, just found the image.

Of course they ripped off past, dying religions. It would be the easiest way to convert people. The more followers you have, the more money you get.

The story of Jesus as we know it today has been massively manipulated and edited by the Catholic Church since it was adopted by Rome as the official state religion, for hundreds of years before that the most powerful military on that hemisphere was focused on wiping it out, all of the original writings have been lost, all of what remains are at best copies of a copies. For hundreds of year the Roman Empire conquered and absorbed the cultures of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, they didn't just conquer their people, they also conquered their gods. Every time a new civilization was conquered those people’s gods would become Roman gods, their idols would be renamed Roman gods, (Zeus to Jupiter, Aries to Mars, ect.) the stories would be slowly changed over time to fit Roman virtues. So when Rome adopted “Christianity” they changed Yahweh and Zeus to "God", Yoshua to Jesus (some people think Jesus is derived from the Latin phrase meaning "son of Zeus"), and Hera to Marry with the lesser gods becoming other saints, much of the practices of paganism were merely given “Christian” names and meanings. Combine this with the growing worship of Isis in the Roman Empire before it’s adoption of Christianity and you have the beginnings of an answer.

I'm a Christian, but I believe that only the core of Jesus' message survived and is largely ignored, love your neighbor, forgive all wrongs done to you, pray for your enemies, and the most ignored of all "if my kingdom were of this world my people would fight", he said after telling his people not to fight.

Yes the story's were written before Jesus but not before God was praised and worshiped, when Horus became a popular deity God had been recognized, not really sure if this really answers a question but the maybe they were meant to be based on Jesus?

You need to login to view this link

Thelordofbutthurt I want you to check out this link. Choose a random sermon and listen to it for a few minutes. Not too much to ask. This man apparently healed the people with diseases and problems back in the 1900's. His name is William Branham. If you are interested and want to see more go look for his life story, it is truly amazing.
