I was playing monopoly the other day but it's the new one, and a chance card said "roll doubles to get 100k" and I was like "k then. DUBS CHECKEM"

Everyone looked at me funny, especially since I got the dubs. They must have thought I did some ancient doubles language.

Thanks Obama Funnyjunk

I hate having to learn French in Canada. Why in the **** does Quebec have to have their own French? Is the regular French not good enough? Does it not please you? Like **** .
Should've taken Gaelic...

It's because they're arrogant ***** who think they're too good for France and too good for Canada. I wish instead of them having the vote, we could vote to kick them out. Bitches whining about having to pay tuition that's half what we pay.

I've never heard a Quebecois complain about wanting the other provinces learn French with the Quebecois accent though.

Don't get me wrong though, I ******* hate those bastards. "Je ne suis pas Canadien, je suis Québécois!". That alone rustles my jimmies.

None of those are popular in the sense that many people of several different cultures and countries will use them, except maybe kindergarten, but that's not intentional. None of them are widely used on the internet either.

And Du hast means "You have". It's the name of a Rammstein song that got featured in one of the Guitar Hero games and everyone started going into fanboy mode.

There was a whole debate over whether it meant "You have" or "You hate" due to the fact that the phrases sound the same when spoken.
"Du hast" (the actual name) means "you have".
"Du hasst" (what people assumed it meant) means "you hate", which is what Rammstein used when they made the english version of the song.

I'm not talking about languages as a whole getting popular, just certain phrases.
Like the one described in the content, how people on 9gag (and people on FJ used to do it too) use "le" (french for "the") in the wrong context or just use it unnecessarily. I'm just saying that it hasn't happened with any German phrase, and I'm glad I don't have to deal with the headache.

I'm also taking a French class, but what irks the hell out of me is how several of the students completely rape language. I understand that learning a language can be difficult, and I have somewhat of an edge because I took French in high school, but when the instructor is literally a foot away from them repeatedly saying "Bonjour" and they reply with "Bonn jur" I die a little inside. And matters worse, alot of them can't even point out the general vicinity of France, on a map.

I have absolutely no idea how the other students at school have such ******* troubles with pronounciation of a different language even after the teacher tells them a thousand times how it's supposed to be pronounced.
I also get really pissed when people cry about how hard english is. It's the easiest language under the sun.
I'm german.
User avatar #28 to #21 - oodlesandoodles (02/16/2013) [-]
Exactly. I used to think that English was the most difficult language (I'm American) just because there are a lot of exceptions and changes. But, after learning Japanese and French, I no longer agree with that

I have honestly never understood how there can be people who don't even know the basics of geography like that. How can you not know where France is? It's in the middle of Europe, do they even know where Europe is?

User avatar #237 to #236 - thesovereigngrave (02/17/2013) [-]
But... Canada? That goes beyond not knowing geography. That means they don't know the first thing about history either.

And God forbid someone ask them where one of the lesser known countries are, like Belgium or Serbia. I'd hate to hear their response.
