But how can the table, supposedly a little larger than a portal enough to fit a portal on it, can thus enter a portal?

I'm certain a coffee table would be able to fit. However, it has been proven that you can only place portals on two surfaces that are incredibly massive, or coated in moon gel, and are a bit larger than the portal itself. As the portals are the same size no matter what, it is impossible to fit a portal inside another portal.

Then the table coming you of the portal on the table would hit the wall.

So basically the side of the table would start to come out of the portal on the table then eventually there would be a table with a portal coming out of a table?

Portals are not attached to entities but exist as entities. They are not attached to objects but exist in direct correlation to the objects they are fired at.The disappearance is probably due to the illegal action of something entering the reverse of the portal by being moved.
