i dont know the new teen titans has it's fun factor in the form of comedy. I mean the characters have pretty much the same personalities only the show has lost most of it's seriousness. It's not bad but I will say it can never live up to the standards of the regular show.

Terra is actually not dead . When she sacrificed herself to stop the volcano she was turned to stone. Later, when Raven defeats Trigon (he had turned everyone to stone), the spell is released and everyone is turned back to human.

So basically when Raven defeated Trigon, Terra turned back into a human, then went to live her life. Putting the past behind her. Including Beast Boy.

Sad story.

I was happy this show existed for reasons completely unrelated to it meaning something. I was just happy that the Teen Titans existed in a form that was not ********.

If you don't understand what I'm talking about, I'm going to use Starfire as an example. In the Teen Titans cartoon, she's an upbeat innocent teenage girl that has emotional conflict in the form of intense familial issues, fish-out-of-water syndrome, a secret worry that she's not good enough for her best friends, and a strong desire to do the right thing and protect her new adopted home.

In the comics, she's a slut.

No, literally. That's not an insult. She's a slut by the actual definition of the word. She's ******* everybody, and she's doing it all the time. It's literally all her character is. She has no real personality or character depth. She's a cliche of a cliche. She's functionally nothing more than a walking orange vagina that hungers for this Earth thing called love. She serves no purpose beyond sexing up the male or female main character(s) of the week, and running around naked constantly, the comic maintaining non-pornographic status only by virtue of shadows, light, and conveniently placed objects obscuring her in ways that most fanservice anime would find to be too coincidentally ********.

I'm not even sure how this **** gets greenlighted. The pic I provided is tame by her standards.

Thank God for Teen Titans: The Animated Series, or we would have never been able to take Starfire seriously for anything, ever.

And don't get me started on Raven.

This goes out to deletedmyaccount and smokingman too.

In the comics Raven was the one who formed the Teen Titans. She has also turned evil about 600 times.

That said her daemonic nature is at least elaborated upon more than it is in the show. In the show we know she's got daemons in more ways than one but it's mostly treated as a 'monster of the day' kind of thing. In the comics it is delved into that if Raven gave into her emotions she could easily become a daemon as powerful as her father, Trigon.

We also get to learn more about Azarath. Oh, and she only started the Teen Titans because the Justice League wouldn't help her because she was part-daemon... the dicks.

The New Teen Titans (the group that she created) contained Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven and Beast Boy. Wonder Girl is the only one of the bunch to never show up in the animated series and it was better for it as I personally dislike Wonder Girl in all of her re-imaginings.

Terra was also an unrepentant evil witch in the comics. She was evil in every sense of the word, not the tortured girl with nowhere to turn to like what we got in the animated series.

Speaking of those differences... in order to beat Trigon in the comics Raven was killed by the titans. She was then resurrected without having to worry about her emotions and actually learned to control the emotions of others (it was interesting but I don't feel it was as interesting as what was done with her in the animated series... frankly the AS towers over the comics in most respects.

After Raven came back to life she donned a white cloak to represent her freedom of trigon... then she got possessed and turned evil and died again. Then she came back possessed by trigon again and ruined Starfire and Robin's wedding to implant her 'good self' inside Starfire and then eventually came back to kill her and frankly it's a huge mess that direly required the subtlety and sensibility of the animated series.

Oh and this is just a personal pet-peeve. Why is it that the version of her that has a uniform with bare legs all the way up to her muffin-cave doesn't look nearly as sexually exploitative as this version does?

I've never liked most comic-book style art styles and much prefer the minimalist styles used in the animated series and it's blatant fan-service like this that makes me understand why.

REALLY think about that outfit. To get that cleft between 'dem cheeks her outfit would need to essentially have little socks for her but-cheeks to fit into so that there was enough fabric to slide down the middle! The same with her cleavage that is conspicuously poking out as well. Boob socks and butt socks. The fan-service is so bad that it genuinely strains credulity.

(Not like anime is free of that... most artists seem to be kinda pervy about this and I can't blame them but when it comes down to it this is degrading what are supposed to be -SERIOUS- characters through logical holes and blatant objectivism which goes AGAINST all of the things we are taught in the animated series.

Jesus christ, DC, get your **** together. (Though considering everything involved with the New 52 it seems you don't even have any **** left to get together since it was all dumped onto your fans!)

Well it is a superhero comic book.. think about the main demographic that reads those things. That being said, I totally agree with your points about Starfire - I never liked her design in the comics, and it was painfully obvious that she was being slutted up. Almost the exact opposite of the animated series Starfire. The only Titans comic I've ever read didn't have Raven in it, so I didn't know much about her.

In my opinion, most comics are ****. Most superhero ones at least. By including them in these huge universes full of characters it brings in plotholes like 'if one team isn't tough enough, why not just call in another to help' or 'if we do call in that other team to help we'll need to make the villain EVEN STRONGER in order to make it work' to the point where you get superman towing the earth around space, characters dying and coming back, completely eliminating death as a consequence, stupidly powerful superheroes and super-villains that completely trivialise other, less powerful heroes like Batman to the point where to keep up he needs to have a gadget for every specific occasion.

The animated series wasn't self-contained as it did have references to Batman and Static Shock had references to Teen Titans as well which were nice little nods but essentially it kept the threats just large enough to be threats without having to make the heroes stupidly powerful to overcome them.

Regarding the power levels, I think that Marvel handled the issue much better than DC (although I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to both) by giving the godlike powers mostly to, well, gods, rather than to protagonists with frequent appearances. Having Batman teamed up with Superman (who is, like you said, pretty much a god) and Captain Atom (a guy who can create universes on a whim) in order to stop a bank robbery kinda breaks the whole immersion, not only because it turns characters into unbelievable Mary Sues, but also makes it impossible for the said characters to be put together into a sensible plot.

And yeah, thanks for the answer to my question, good sir.
