Well as the only Rays fan in the world, I don't know what to make of this trade. Wel lose Shields, who has been a gem for us the last 3 years. He is old and the Rays have great timing on dropping pitchers (i.e. Garza). I've heard Myers was the prospect of the year last year and a great hitter. I'm going to miss the hell out of Shields though, but Freeman (our GM) has never led us astray (except for the Manny Ramirez signing).

Thanks for last 6 years Shields.

Rays fan here aswell, A bit sad we lose shields, but the reality is he proabably signs elsewhere when he reaches free agency and this way we get the best minor league player of 2012 with a very team friendly contract who will more than likely be siigned to a longoria/moore esqe contract, along with 2 other very solid pitchers with great upside. Even though we lose a hole in the rotation Price proved last season why he is the ace of the team With Price, Moore, Hellickson, Archer, Cobb & Niemann and add Montgomery when he's big league ready, that is a rotation that can dominate the AL East for the next decade or so

I just hope Wil is what he is with all the hype. We need a big bat along with Longo since Jeff (who was highly underrated) and BJ left and Joyce being injured or not in the lineup most of the time. I am pretty hyped with the addition of Escobar and think he can be a consistent hitter. I also hope Loney can be the player he was back in his early career. We have the pitching, we just need the bats to become a dominate team

Another question for this coming year, is who is going to be our backup to Price. We really didn't have anybody until Shields did after the trade deadline. Also is the matter o our closer. With three great closers in the last three years, I hope Rodney can be just as dominate.

BTW Its a damn pleasure to see another Rays fan on here.

(Side note: Fuck the AL East, why does it have to be so hard)

Yeah no joke, I reckon Moore will really take a big step towards development, plus Hellickson as well. The offense shoud look better as well with an experienced hitter in loney down the bottom order

you guys got some good-ass prospects. Shields is def. one of the most underrated pitchers in the leagues. He reminds me a lot of Matt Cain: he's been with the team through the bad, stuck with them until the winning seasons started. Best of luck to him and Tampa
