So I'm a little confused...are we with the kid or the mom ?? Both have valid points. Let's have a look at fj's preference, back to you cotton.

Well Pepper we have reason to believe we're on the kid's side here, her mom saying she will regret a tattoo for the rest of her life, but having her choose a job she will feel the same about. Now it's time for a commercial break. We'll be back with sports

You're missing the point completely. It's pointing out the hypocrisy that certain parents demonstrate. Some parents think that 18 is too young to make a decision to get a tattoo because you're too immature and might regret it later. At the same time, most parents expect their kids to decide what they want to do for the rest of their lives around that age. Another decision that one may regret later but parents don't think of it that way.
#161 to #77 - John Cena (12/24/2013) [-]
Yeah but choosing a career or major or whatever is done with more thought/resources hthan a tatoo. There are job fairs, you're encouraged to do job shadowing get internships etc. Colleges also encourage you to change majors and be happy etc. try things and network a ton. It's more like you did not put a lot of thought into a decision that will affect you permanently.

Electricians don't just drag wire around, there's a ton of problem solving and troubleshooting, especially when you get into industrial electrical work. For example: if something goes wrong with a motor, you'll need to be able read complicated diagrams, test the circuit to isolate the problem, then fix the circuit. If you screw up you could cost your customer thousands of dollars.

Do you not recognize those as the universal bullet points of the internet used for lists? They may have started as greentext-giving characters but the writing style has stuck with them, regardless of the text colour.
User avatar #179 to #172 - alphajunk (12/24/2013) [-]
No **** . Text Color has nothing to do with this and neither does ">"
I referring to the many ">IMPLYING" he was repeating many times.
This was and will always be from 4chan. the place where it was originated
I've never seen any other post on the internet that does this except here and some other forums if thats what you're thinking.
Its not universal and if you think that, you're dead wrong.
#190 to #179 - Nameloc (12/24/2013) [-]
They direct more attention towards a general statement that must be split up multiple times to properly convey the message.
If I were to help someone with a computer issue, finding a specific file, or what have you, then I would state it like this:

>Start
>Find 'My Computer'
>Right click
>Click Properties

Is this not a better method of conveying a message as such than stating it out in one sentence?
If I were to state that in a full sentence, it would not be as easy to read:
"Click the start button, find My Computer on the list, mouse over it and right click My Computer, and then click Properties from the context menu."

Now if we were to take brettyoke's statement and turn it into a sentence, or two, it would be something like:
"This is implying that you can't change your career path in college and that you don't need a job versus not needing a tattoo. It is also implying that a job permanently attaches itself to you, and can never be changed. This is all just stupid."
The added ">implying 3deep5me" is a joke, and could not be conveyed as such in a normal sentence, therefore I was unable to correctly fit it inside of the sentence.

This is where the '4chan arrows' come into play to help deliver his message that he is trying to convey.
If he were using it incorrectly and it did not express and convey his thought, then I agree that it would be stupid and pointless.

However, since it correctly expresses the thought and conveys the nature of such, then I must disagree with you, alphajunk.
Sure the base of his structure underlying his comment/ thought derives from '4chan greentext arrows,' but it is much more than that.
It isn't mindless.
FunnyJunk is a more educated and filtered version of 4chan, in which where there are constant reposts from Reddit and Tumblr, and rarely 'Original Content.'

Embrace this as what it is, instead of trying to fight it.
#198 to #190 - alphajunk (12/24/2013) [-]
I agree to disagree,I dont think you either understood my point at all.
Ill repeat myself again if i have to. I have no problem with the bullet points ">>>>>>"
I know that post was a rightful joke with its conveys points. This i already know.
All i said, was this user was thinking like this is 4chan. Did he mean to do it?
No.
I never ment any of this to be taken into an argument, but rather a simplified humorous comment.

Now, of course, you may think i'm going against implying too but i'm not.
4chan has begun to repeatly use of ">implying" comment usually found throughout 4chan image boards that is used to mock another user’s comment or challenge the validity of its underlying argument or logic.
This isn't opinion,but actual fact.

I never even tried to fight against anything in this term of matter and i also never disagreed with his point of views. A various amount of your comment is true, but it has no meaning to my point. Just useless information you're splattering out that has none of my concern. I know what the whole thing means.
All i'm saying was the similarities of his post to a 4chan one.
The overreacted number of implies was the term that dignifies its origin.
>IMPLYING
>IMPLYING
>IMPLYING
>IMPLYING

This is what i meant when it wasn't universal. FunnyJunk grows fond of 4chan,so i wouldn't necessarily say its more educated, but equal in my opinion. perhaps even lower.
You tell me what kind of post would more likely originate from if you ever saw it?
More likely a 4chan one. Hands down, this conversation is over.
#202 to #198 - shadowbreech (12/24/2013) [-]
I don't use 4chan so I can't comment but here's how your joke came across to me:

Plus, did you mean the last part of "This post is stupid" ? or some other part of his comment, because again, to me that was unclear as well.

The real problem with picking collage and a career path is that we(as in 18 year olds) feel the need to pick one immediately and because we pick one based on how much money we can make doing it without actually knowing what the career is
Example-
Friend: I want to go to law school to be a lawyer
Me: Good at public speaking?
Friend: Oh lord no! But why do you bring it up?
