User avatar #48 to #40 - vinylshark (10/28/2013) [-]
Recordings are just like the one with covering your ear.
How do we know if others really hear our voice like that?
What if everyone hears our voice different?

What if someone sees the color blue as red and the color red as blue. no one would ever know
User avatar #65 to #48 - toensix (10/28/2013) [-]
But you do agree that your voice sounds very different when listening to a recording. I'm assuming that if it sounds approximately the same as a recording then it sounds like other people hear me. Sure that not one hundred percent true but in the end the only thing one can ever be certain of is that they exist.
User avatar #90 to #65 - vinylshark (10/28/2013) [-]
I do agree on that. And I really hope that people don't hear my voice like that.

cover your left ear and listen, take a recording of your voice and then listen

"hey these things sound similar"

#269 to #28 - Rascal (10/29/2013) [-]
You could record your voice and play it back to know what everyone else hears.
User avatar #71 to #28 - studsper (10/28/2013) [-]
What I've understood it's the other way around. Cover the right ear.
You can say that you hear two versions of your own vocie. One that travels through the air, and one that travels through your skull. Other people only hear what travels through the air.
The "skull voice" makes your voice sound deeper, which is why your voice sounds so childish when recorded. So to hear your "real" voice you must, at least partially, block out the "skull voice". I believe you can do that by pressing the side of your hand It works better with other objects, like a thin file against your cheeks, just in front of your ears.
I've seen a video with the method explained, i'll see if I can find it.
User avatar #72 to #71 - studsper (10/28/2013) [-]

My air voice seems to be the deepest one in the school and have enough bass to shake the room when i talk sometimes but when i hear it through my skull it's usually higher than what others hear

#275 to #22 - Rascal (10/29/2013) [-]
Well... that still works. morphine is a pain killer, not a anti-septic
User avatar #295 to #275 - adu (10/29/2013) [-]
But it still proposes a conundrum, no?
User avatar #25 to #22 - xplosevdiarrhea (10/28/2013) [-]
Pain killer. Not antibiotic.
User avatar #29 to #25 - adu (10/28/2013) [-]
I know that, but it still proposes a dilemma. Should we lick our wounds to soothe them, even if it risks infection?
#33 to #29 - Rascal (10/28/2013) [-]
I don't really bite when i lick stuff tho...
User avatar #34 to #33 - adu (10/28/2013) [-]
Well I assume the infection comes from the saliva, unless it's from the plaque on the teeth.
#50 to #34 - dontread (10/28/2013) [-]
You're right, its usually cautioned to NOT lick your wounds as there is a high risk of infection but stuff like papercuts are whatevs
User avatar #292 to #34 - pokemonstheshiz (10/29/2013) [-]
well, the bacteia is in the saliva, yes. It's not that the saliva itself is infectious, but human mouths are just festering with bacteria.
This is the reason that dogs and many animals will lick their own wounds, because it does have a painkilling effect. However, it does pose a large risk of infection. A lot of animals have developed immunities to many of the bacteria they carry in their mouth, but humans haven't. You will do more harm than good to yourself, and Tylenol is pretty easy to come by.
