smoking doesn't make you a douche bag, being a douche bag makes you a douche bag. as a smoker i would never smoke in a no smoking area, it's ******* inconsiderate. nor would i smoke around people who just don't want it in their area. but if i'm outside smoking and you come stand close to me and then tell me to put out my cigarette because you don't like it, **** off
User avatar #196 to #191 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (01/19/2014) [-]
Look down in the comments, people will take you as a inconsiderate smoking douchebag because THEY want YOU to not smoke even where you're ALLOWED to smoke.

well the people here can **** off then bipolar little pricks. my body my life my decisions. i'm not harming other people by doing it. we praise people who get drunk, we want marijuana to be legalized, we want gays to marry. all these things because it's not our decision to make them choose what to do in life. so why the hell can they tell me to not smoke? because it hurts my body? so does sitting here looking at funnyjunk all day but no because everyone enjoys that it's ok.

i like the taste of it. and it's relaxing. waking up, taking a shower, brushing my teeth and whatever. then i step outside into the cold and have a cigarette in the quiet and the cold and just the world is serene to me. i also smoke cigars and pipes on certain occasions. it's like why do people drink. it's fun and enjoyable and relaxing

I love FunnyJunk because we hate people who smokes because it endangers their own body. We also hate people who ate too much "fatty" food because it endangers their own body. Hell, we even hate vegans who don't even eat "fatty" food because it endangers their own body. YET we love and praise people who drinks beer/alcohol, even that it endangers their own body. Yes I ******* know passive smokers exist. And eating fatty food/ doing vegan's diet ONLY fatal when you do it excessively, same thing with smoking and drinking beer/alcohol. Not that I want to defend smokers, fat people or vegans, but I said this so you alcoholfag would realize what the hell you're doing before you judge someone's habit.

Personally I hate all of those, especially the alcohol abusers, not because they endanger themselves, but because they, atleast in a country with universal healthcare, use the state's money to pay for the diseases they get.
User avatar #210 to #79 - Shitthatscrazy (01/19/2014) [-]
Well let's clarify this to a more specific point as a oppose to the big bland we hate this because it effects just them idea.

1. Smoking doesn't just effect the smoker but it effects everyone nearby who breaths it in, heck anybody with breathing problems can be seriously in danger breathing even small amounts of that in.

2. That fat thing is because these fat people "generally" are lazy ***** who just sat in a chair and stuffed their faces until they became pumpkins with feet

3. Vegans...... they say bacon is wrong, and that's pretty much the problem.
User avatar #218 to #210 - Shitthatscrazy (01/19/2014) [-]
Meanwhile drinking in itself only harms yourself. How you are when you can't control your liquor is a person to person specific issue. Some can have a few beers and walk home without an issue, while some have issues with various ailments that can effect other people such as:

Nausea
Black-outs
Potentially driving (if nobody didnt hold his keys when he drove there)
Violent behaviors
Depression and other emotional fluctuations

They key point is that unlike smoking, being fat, or being a vegan-nazi. The deal with alchohol can't be given as clear a general call as the other 3 mentioned because it is a catalyst for a potential result as opposed to the facts of the others that have been proven to be general knowledge and a constant and chronic issue.

TL;DR Beer isn't comparable to smoking, being fat, or being vegan.
User avatar #223 to #218 - Shitthatscrazy (01/19/2014) [-]
Weed however would be put more into the same deal as with beer as long as it isn't laced with tobacco or other substances. Nothing toxic besides getting you high.

P.S. i hate weed personally for my own reasons

Nicotine, alcohol and pot all have the same intensed useage of making the consumer feel better be it emotionally or physically, henceforth they are narcotics. All of them have downsides differing in severity, pot can cause development problems in the brains of teenage smokers or adults just out of puberty, alcohol can inhibit rational thought and kill i enough quantities.

Nicotine is addictive and can change ones personality through cravings or such other ways. And the chemicals mixed with the nicotine in cigarettes are designed to make it hit the bloodstream and brain quicker and more heavily, nicotine can be chewed raw or in other forms but it is weaker without the additives so its often boycotted for cigarettes.

For those reasons i find cigarettes the worst thing to possibly put in your body, as they
make nicotine addicts use them to get the satisfaction they need as other products dont hit the user with as hard with nicotine. Causing all the carcinogens and tar in cigarettes to affect the users body.

In the end i dont care what you do its your body but im bored and rambling. But if you smoke around small children ill find you and firebomb your loved ones. Anyway night.

"For those reasons i find cigarettes the worst thing to possibly put in your body"

Considering that alcohol-consumption can lead to death since the first try, I might reconsider that statement if I were you.

Furthermore, try binge-drinking for 4 years and see how well you fare. Be a chain-smoker for 4 years and you're (almost) perfectly fine.

im sick of hearing people whine and bitch about smokers! its a personal choice, if someone wants to do something that may or may not affect their health what right do you have to judge them!? here are some of things that can affect your health in a bad way:
-drinking alcohol
-eating sugar
-any thing that isnt water or organic food
-plugging a power lead into the mains
-driving or being a passenger in a vehicle
all of these things are what you choose, yet they can still affect your health. if a cyclist started ranting at you for driving a car and not cycling, wouldnt you want to punch him in his smug goddamn mouth for judging you when he has no right to?

im a smoker. i dont smoke because im addicted. i can go as long as i want between each cigarette, i only smoke because i enjoy it. i love the way it feels and the relaxation it brings me after a long hard day at work. everything and anything can kill you. and although its the longest thing you will ever do, life is short. so whether its smoking drinking or doing things others may not like, if you enjoy it then it makes your life that little less miserable then do it. dont be one of those judgemental dickheads who try to make others feel like **** because they dont agree with something others enjoy. just accept that smoking brings comfort to some people and move on.

thank you for listening.

Problem is the effects of smoking to people around you. Second hand smoking can cause severe long-term health problems.

I think most people dislike smokers not because of how it affects the smoker, but the way that smokers know how badly the smoke smells to most people, and it just seems arrogant for smokers to pollute the whole area around them with this awful smell, and they just sit there and expect everyone else to accept it.
You can't really dislike someone for farting since it's a natural thing for us all, but if their fart is going to make people around them choked up in disgust, then save it for your own time.

He's not a typical smoker. So your argument isn't entirely valid.
I speak from experience. I know people in real life, people in my family that are exactly like what I talked about. They are what average smokers are. My grandma started smoking when she was about 14, she's only in her 60's and looked ancient. Thankfully I was able to convince her to quit a few years back, she's been feeling better ever since.
My aunt is in her 50's and looks the same, she also no longer has any teeth.

No, my denial is a reaction to all the completely blown out of proportions imagery that has been associated with smoking in the last decade or so, which is even seen in movies.

Note that even in the 90s you saw lots of people in American movies smoking like ************* . No body gave a crap back then.
But all of a sudden, some communistic piece of **** companies decided to market and promote the ludicrous idea that tobacco is pure poison for you, that it's worse than arsenic or other ******* crazy like that.

Which is also translated in how people view smoking nowadays. The state told you that it's bad for you, so you obey. The same state that has nothing against fast foods chains. Really?
#183 to #171 - darthblam (01/19/2014) [-]
Funny that you mention arsenic, an ingredient that is in fact in cigarettes.
"communistic piece of **** companies"
Haha.
"the state told you it's bad for you, so you obey."
You're so delusional it's sad.
I stay away from smoking because I've SEEN what it does to you and because the stuff smells like absolute **** to me.

Again, your arguing is just the denial of a smoker that won't admit you're addicted to a bad thing. And you're most likely very young, somewhere between 12 and 15 probably.

Go ahead and live your sad delusion, just don't be surprised when you wind up with a hole in your throat and relying on a device to your neck to talk.

- I am so addicted to cigarettes that I gave up on them because I got bored of them. Also, I want to get a bit healthier, same as cutting off the beer when you put some belly on you.
- I am 24
- It takes literally a LIFETIME of being a chain smoker to end up with throat cancer and "a hole in your hole"

You know what also causes your teeth to rot like in the pics above? Sweets and sodas. That means that you should NEVER consume such evil, vile products, right?

Seriously, either understand the simple concept of CONSUMING WITH MODERATION/RESPONISBLY (a concept that I'm 99% convinced is pretty alien to most 'muricans) or outright go **** yourself.

>It takes literally a LIFETIME of being a chain smoker to end up with throat cancer and "a hole in your hole"
No. Your body kills cancer cells every day, smoking just increases the chances of it missing one. Same reason you hear about 20 year olds getting skin cancer from going to the tanning bed everyday. Smoking isn't as bad as direct UV rays, but it it's still pretty bad for you.

Statistically, gays are at a higher risk of contracting HIV than straight men. I know, ******* obvious, right? Well, I'm just telling you the facts. I'm not against gay marriage, but they honestly are more open to HIV, which technically makes it an unhealthy choice. Yeah, you can say that gays are born that way, but everything action a person makes in life is a choice. There are people who just remain abstinent forever and that's a choice even though they're born with some kind of sexual urges in them.

What it all boils down to is the fact that you want to tell people how to live their lives. Telling smokers not to smoke is the same as telling gays not to like men. You want to run other people's lives because you think you know what's best for them, but you don't. People will always do things that you don't like and that's what makes life interesting.

Alright, there are certain things that you don't get to chose, but people can control sexual urges. It doesn't matter if you're straight or gay, you can control whether you **** someone or not.

You're not even acknowledging my point. What I'm stating is that telling people not to smoke is like telling gay people that they can't get married. Both are things that people don't need, but they'd like to do.
User avatar #323 to #320 - niggastolemyname (01/20/2014) [-]

User avatar #324 to #323 - yuukoku (01/20/2014) [-]
You took it too literally and spun the message. The comparison was in the fact that both smoking and homosexuality are things that groups of people tell those who choose to do these things (or are born into it) not to do. Yeah, they aren't perfect comparisons when you get into the semantics, but I don't give a **** about the semantics, I care about the idea of freedom. I believe that it's perfectly acceptable to smoke just as it's perfectly acceptable to be gay.

My point is that it's none of your business what other people do because they are free to do whatever they want. If you're supportive of tolerance, than you'll tolerate smokers just as well as you tolerate homosexuals.

User avatar #110 to #102 - killinkyle (01/19/2014) [-]
Pot is for people who need to feel good.

Smoking is an addiction that does nothing for you other then creates a false addiction that makes you think you're relieving stress by doing it, when in actuality its just the nicotine talking for you.

On top of this, I'd like to point out all the negative side effects to smoking, including, but not limited to;

Decreased activity
Increased risk of tongue, throat, and lung cancer
Decrease in brain cells
A very heavy increase in tooth decay

And multiple other side effects.

Not only that, but by smoking, you also hurt people around you. Many people die every year due to second hand smoke, sometimes, from people they dont even know.

So not only are you hurting yourself by smoking, you can be hurting anyone around you by smoking, as well.

I don't like pot by any means, by all standards I think it shouldn't be legal in public, but its nowhere near as bad as the effects smoking can have on you.

Educate yourself, filth.
User avatar #112 to #110 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (01/19/2014) [-]

Look here, you little ******** : I can smoke how many cigarettes I want, I am still FULLY FUNCTIONAL and can carry on doing whatever I need to do. I can drive a car safely or do my work at my job. Let me see someone who smokes pot do that.

User avatar #119 to #112 - killinkyle (01/19/2014) [-]
I never said smoking pot was okay. People around here are very pro-pot though, so you have to be careful with your wording. Just because I dont like it doesn't mean its bad. Its not like tobacco, which like I just said, CAN HURT OTHER PEOPLE AROUND YOU.

Or maybe your not getting the message here? Not only are you killing yourself, your killing others around you. Forget the pot for a second and realize how stupid smoking is in general. Its an idiots tool for stress relief and 'looking cool'
User avatar #128 to #119 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (01/19/2014) [-]
Listen here, kiddo: people who claim that smoking is basically "killing yourself" should be kicked in the groin hard enough so that they never breed. Because they're obviously too dumb to live or gullible enough to believe the media programs **** .

Also, pot smoke is much more dangerous than cigarette smoke, for your own goddamn information. A pot smoker who gets behind the wheel is infinitely more dangerous than someone who smokes and drives at the same time.

Furthermore, the fact that "people around here are very pro-pot" makes them nothing more than complete HYPOCRITICAL IDIOTS. You're pro legalizing weed, but against smoking cigarettes. And if you fail to see the problem in this sort of thinking, you should perhaps reconsider your life to include interesting hobbies, such as bungee jumping without a rope.

Well I didn't say any of that either. I merely stated that you're still addicted. And I think E-cigs are a pretty good alternative to inhaling smoke, but your body doesn't absorb all of it. User avatar #55 - thelastamerican ONLINE (01/19/2014) [-]
Smoking indoors is a problem right? Wrong. The problem is that some businesses cater to people who smoke, and some do not. How can I tell? Some businesses are smoke free, while others have smoking sections, or are completely accepting of smoking individuals. The owner of the establishment, (Let's say its a bar) should have the right to decide weather or not he wants to allow people to smoke inside. When he makes that decision he also makes the decision to possibly chase away people who do not smoke. The same works in reverse.

So, Don't like the smell of smoke? Go to a business that caters to that desire. Want to smoke while eating a pancake? Go to a smoking tolerant establishment. The free market is completely capable of making these decisions, so why are we allowing the government to put in place yet another regulation on a businesses?

Part II:
I despise walking in front of a bar at happy hour because I can't get by without walking through the ever present cloud of smoke hanging outside where smokers are forced to go. We can't contain that **** inside. Oh no. That would defeat the purpose. Instead I have to walk though it when I'm not even going to the place. I sometimes smoke when I drink, but I don't want to smell like an ash tray just because I'm on a walk.

Mind actually linking to the study? Can't seem to find it.

Either way though, in an open environment (or in a case that a business owner allows smoking in the building. Which even then, does not support the hypothesis that it carries negative health benefits, so people who push for no smoking inside have no grounds in this area.) smell isn't really the persons concern, as it isn't affecting in such a way that harms them. It's simply something they don't like.

" turns the immediate airspace a slight tinge of black"
Until I see the actual study if you can provide it, the word "immediate" is the main thing I'm looking at.

I was actually just messing with you. Albert Wylok isn't real and as far as I know there are mixed professional opinions on the effects of second-hand smoke, though I don't care enough to research it at the moment.

Welp jokes on me for actually looking for such a study lol. I actually tried decently hard sadly enough.

Try using the same argument for people being fat. No problems with smoking, just saying.
