I saw a video of perpetual motion machines and it had me thinking. Are these things real? Can I just set up a wheel with a bunch of internal ball bearings that will rotate forever until it physically deteriorates?

No, perpetual motion is impossible, there will always be energy lost to the surroundings in some form of heat, friction or sound.

The closet we probably have are flywheel energy storage devices, which are high speed spinning wheels that store energy, and lose very little energy to the surroundings.

I rarely ever make comments to be honest, not enough to be worth stalking.
