I believe conservatives are correct on economic issues, but not on social issues such as drugs and gay marriage, war, etc.

I believe liberals are right on social issues, but not on economic issues.

That's because the Republican party has a large Christian base that regularly fucks up on every single social issue.

I think there is a difference between socially liberal and socially libertarian. Consider drug legalization. A libertarian bill would simply repeal any ban drug use. Considering most examples of democrat legislation, a liberal drug legalization would likely by littered with tax credits or subsidies for medicinal marijuana or local dispensaries, would include an excise tax on drug use, might even include mandatory registration in some kind of government database to monitor drug use and drug sale. The the motivation is the same, the result is very different. I fall somewhere in between conservative and libertarian. I agree with libertarians on most social issues except foreign policy. It doesn't bother me if gays get married, and I believe i don't very much believe that we should legislate morality, and that in combating terrorism we should be wary that our constitution is not shredded in the process. I voted for Ron Paul in the primary for lack of better alternatives and I really wish people like Santorum would shut up and go join the other statists in the other party. Sorry for the novel.

I couldn't fucking agree more. I am also a social liberal/ fiscal conservative (except on 2nd Amendment rights--I fall to the right on that one). However, I'm not necessarily a libertarian, philosophically speaking. I just consider myself a moderate.
