It takes a special kind of an idiot to end up with two kids from two different males, neither of whom remains in the picture, and to lend 1,700 from loan sharks. Hopefully the kids get taken away and adopted by someone who isn't a retard.

While what she did is unarguably fraud, payday loan companies are essentially just as bad. They advertise cheap money and then give you a huge ******* interest rate the second you get your payday back. Say you needed 200 dollars for car insurance, but your payday, of which is 400 dollars, isn't until after the payment was due. If you take out an advance they might SAY they're giving you 5-10% interest rate, but what they neglect to tell you (in both the contract, which alludes to this but doesn't actually state it, and in person) is that the interest rate goes up exponentially each week. If your payday wasn't for two weeks, you could end up having to pay double your salary for just 200 bucks. What makes it even worse is that the payday loan companies KNOW when you'll be able to pay back a loan, but don't adjust their interest rates accordingly. In summation, Payday loan companies selectively remove parts of their policy in contracts so that they can fool people into agreeing to outrageous interest rates, have outrageous and unfair interest rates that equate to double or more of the original load, and willingly approve loans that they know people won't be able to pay back because they're pay cheque is too small. If this isn't fraud, I don't know what is.
TL;DR the lady was an idiot, but Payday Loan companies are just as guilty of fraud as she is.

I'd like to point out, that, generally, unless you have an asshole insurance company, car company, etc, etc, a simple call ahead and being like "Hey, gonna be a few days late on my payment. **** happened. So uh, don't drop me or whatever. I'll get at ya." tends to work out. At least around here. But I'm speaking in second hand, so I'm probably not right regardless.
User avatar #56 to #22 - xturboxx (12/27/2013) [-]
Exactly. I've called on things a few times, and they're always understanding. They're getting their money, and you are telling them ahead of time so there really isn't an issue.
User avatar #23 to #22 - DmOnZ ONLINE (12/27/2013) [-]
That's generally how most car insurance companies work, I was just using it as an example though. You really only run into trouble with insurance and deadlines either if you a history of missed deadlines or you're using a really large company that doesn't really care if you can or not.
User avatar #24 to #23 - brokentrucker (12/27/2013) [-]
Ah, good. Soon I shall be abandoning the nest hopefully before it burns down around me. **** be smoking and I think I saw flames a while back soon, and while I hope to be able to rely on my partner lady friend that I'm moving in with, it's nice to confirm certain things before hand.
User avatar #25 to #24 - DmOnZ ONLINE (12/27/2013) [-]
haha, well good luck with that. Just stay away from big companies and payday loan agencies and you should be all right, the rest is just common sense. Don't take out a loan you can't pay for, set your credit card limit to a manageable amount at first to establish your credit rating and only use it for annual purchases like insurance or something, and NEVER under any circumstances take out more than one credit card... **** piles up, yo.
User avatar #26 to #25 - brokentrucker (12/27/2013) [-]
well, I ted to use my credit card for whatever the **** I feel like generally for when I have the cash already, but I want to keep working on credit, or when bank decides my hard earned money goes to an overdrawn account linked to mine because my mom can't keep her head out of her ass , but I pay that **** back as soon as it clears the card, when applicable. So, I'm all good there.

Loan companies viciously raping the wallets and bank accounts of the uneducated, making obscene amounts of money and using every trick in the book to put everybody in huge debt are a big issue in the UK right now.

They've all made millions off the back of the financial meltdown and the government is only taking notice now.
User avatar #27 to #26 - DmOnZ ONLINE (12/27/2013) [-]
Ahh, good, well you've got good financial discipline. The only reason you'd use it for only annual purchases would to learn that, but since you've already got it you're in the clear.

#9 to #1 - thierryboyce (12/26/2013) [-]
Fist of all why would that make you ashamed to be British. Second the article says she is 28 and her kids are 3 and 8 if you read the captions under the pictures so was not 16 when she had her first baby.

Every girl in this country is getting pregnant at 14 at the earliest it's ******* disgusting
#11 to #10 - lolabunny (12/26/2013) [-]
Hardly 'every girl'. The average age for a woman's first child is still just shy of 30

www.parliament.uk/documents/commons/lib/research/olympic-britain/olympicbritain.pdf#page=22

Don't feel down about your country because of what you see in the news, there is a reason that they're being reported on and it's because they're rare.

I can't tell if she's a good or bad mom for doing this... On one hand she gave her kids an incredible christmas and on the other she may not be able to feed them.
#38 to #29 - inept (12/27/2013) [-]
Of course she's a bad mother. She's put her family into debt and spent way more money than she needed to. Everyone knows payday loans cost a fortune to pay back, It's completely stupid. Plus her kids are *probably* from two different fathers so twice she's failed to conceive a child in a stable relationship
#15 - lolerbot ONLINE (12/27/2013) [-]
I actually think that's really nice of her. To put herself at risk just to give her kids a nice christmas.
Now at the same time it's really stupid because if **** hits the fan, then the mom will go to jail and kids will have no mom.

She's putting her children at just as much as herself.
They need food, electricity, and other necessities. But she might not be able to pay for them.
And if she dies, her debts go to them it might be different there though, i can't be sure
