Of course, we can't put colored people in prison.
They come from war torn countries.
Being a colored immigrant in Norway, is better than ebing a Norwegian in Norway

Wanna know why its like this?

Norway believes in rehabilitation more than punishment. They believe if you treat a prisoner as "mentally ill" rather than "dangerous scum", then they start to see themselves as useful contributions of society and thus fix their life as such. Did you know that the Norway corrections systems has ways to give them equal opportunity jobs after rehabilitation? This is so that after they're released, they dont immediately return to crime.

And guess what? It works. Norway has one of the least numbers of "repeat offenders" in the world. The US has one of the highest numbers of said statistic.

You don't even have to do that. As long as you do as NAV says Basically the guys who take care of everyone who has no job you get a free apartment with all bills paid by the government until you get a job. We even have a word for it here in Norway, to NAVe, or NAVing.
User avatar #31 to #29 - cyclonike (12/10/2013) [-]
See, that's the worst part, they're also a lot more lenient. I don't think shoplifting will get you in, but good luck bro xD

except rewarding people with a better life for commiting crimes makes no sence, start focusing on the innocents who need better lifes than the asshats who ruin other people lives
#324 to #261 - lastsamurai (12/10/2013) [-]
we are already very rich and every job is well-paid.
The focus is on rehabilitation because a very small percentage of the criminals continue being criminals after they leave the prison. If you get treated like a prisoner, you keep acting like one.
User avatar #327 to #324 - admiralen ONLINE (12/10/2013) [-]
except there are still homeless people in norway, there are still people with problem, people who deserve the help WAY more than ******* criminals, but no, these assholes who cant follow the law in a country that is among the richest and nicest in the world needs the money

>implying that having 3 rich royalties should count for making a country the richest in the world
its about the people having it the best etc.
criminals are pieces of **** who dont care about that so i dont think they should get all those ******* perks in prison
#332 to #327 - lastsamurai (12/10/2013) [-]
The criminals are people too with bad experiences and twisted mindsets. There's so many reasons to becoming a criminal.
#328 to #327 - lastsamurai (12/10/2013) [-]
If you can't work or have an illness you get paid by NAV.
If you can work you can just work and make a living.
If you can't work because you have no education the government will pay it for you too.

There's a reason people don't lock their doors and the police don't carry guns. The prison system is very good compared to america's who just imprison people to keep them away from society while trying to keep them at the lowest cost possible.
User avatar #331 to #328 - admiralen ONLINE (12/10/2013) [-]

except they do exist, your country does have people with problems
#344 to #339 - lastsamurai (12/10/2013) [-]
You might think "oh you spend so much money on this **** ."
but it's not really that much at all. Consider norwegians imprison people 5x shorter than american prisons. The costs would of course be 5x greater for the americans to account. Then consider the % of them not coming back, that's another great + when it comes to costs.

Now, you can see we have the money to help the poor, which we do. We are second richest per person in the world. Best country to live in for women. Free healthcare. Free school. Free aid in general. And you believe that when we have so much money that we're efficiently saving up, we should take the tiny bits of the incredibly flexible and proved-to-be-working prison system to use on the nonexistent "poor" people?
User avatar #350 to #344 - admiralen ONLINE (12/10/2013) [-]
they exist, you might not think they do, but theyre there, there are lots of people who have problems, and who need help, criminals should be punished, not rehabilitated, if theres no ******* punishment for crime then whats to stop them from doing it again? the punishment is to chill out in a real comfy prison for a few years without having to work
#342 to #339 - Rascal (12/10/2013) [-]
i don't think that guy knows what he is talking about, ofc norway has problems, it is not that rich of a country and while the jobs are well paid, everything is way too expensive (highest gas price, bigmac index is also world's highest and so on). norway has many problems too.

guess the "samurai" still lives with his parents so ofc he knows nothing
#351 to #342 - lastsamurai (12/10/2013) [-]
I still live with my parents, yes. But I've seen my sick brother going from an extremely wellpaid but harsh programming job to a nutjob with mental issues and I've seen the capital. People "with issues" are most often people that can't find a job. Which is too ******* bad in my opinion...
#360 to #351 - Rascal (12/10/2013) [-]

#386 to #384 - Rascal (12/10/2013) [-]
oh i'm sorry, i assumed you are young because you are still living with your parents... but you still don't get it... when you start working and paying for your own **** then you can talk. (srsly, you should move out... 18? wow... no wonder you are ignorant)
#387 to #386 - lastsamurai (12/10/2013) [-]
Hmm.. It doesn't matter how much you try to offend me. The truth is I'm richer and smarter than you. Have a happy life and I wish you the best.

#393 to #387 - Rascal (12/10/2013) [-]
"rich" yea right, more like your parents are rich, still not likely, especially if you still live with your parents... and smart? these comments tell pretty much the opposite
#395 to #393 - lastsamurai (12/10/2013) [-]
I work with facts. And the fact is that the norwegian government is one of the best governments the world has to offer. I am smarter than you because you criticize me without bringing any real argument. You think one-sidedly and harass me to, I don't know, make yourself feel better? You call me ignorant, but you don't specify why.
You know nothing about me, yet you judge me.

Yes. I can frankly say I'm smarter than you. And I can prove you wrong if you think otherwise.
#396 to #395 - Rascal (12/10/2013) [-]
how can you work with facts when you admitted that you live in your parents house, for which your parents pay for (i assume... rightfully so, i believe).

fact is that you can't actually know how a country is until you work for yourself and pay for your own stuff. you seem to forget that norway is one of the most (in many cases, the most) expensive countries.

also if you being 18 still live with your parents then it's safe to assume (well there is always a chance you live close to one...) you didn't go to college, which makes you not smarter than me
#397 to #396 - lastsamurai (12/10/2013) [-]
I work with facts because I have learned things from my economics class and I have politic freaks in my class. Living with my parents, my sisters and brothers doesn't ******* explain why I wouldn't deal with facts. What the **** are you talking about.

I am looking for a job, but I have been working about 15 hours a week since I was born for nothing. I haven't been handed everything to me in my life and I sure as hell won't get everything I want in life either. I accept that.
Norway might be expensive, but that's why everyone make so much money, and frankly I'd rather have it that way. It makes you think before spending your money.

In Norway we have 13 years of high-school instead of 12. I am in my third year and I'll be trying to go to a college to get a master's degree. I might not have a job at the moment, but that's only because most stores only want 18+ so they can work at the registry. And most people I know of get their jobs from someone they know well or family, and I've already tried that.

My brother is 23. And my sister is 21, and they still live with my parents because they attend a near-by college. They are not poor and both have jobs, but it's much cheaper to live here when we already have the extra space (big family).

I don't know if I'm smarter than you, but I strongly suspect I am.

I heard a lection about how come Norway, sweden, denmark, canada etc so low on crime. Well i'll skip to the end of it. The conclusion was that there is a connection between how much people in a country trust on someone they do not know (but still from the same country).
So in Denmark, Canada and Norway ( so on) it was almost 80% who trusted on someone they did not know, however, in the US and all the other crappy countries, the trust was only on about 20-40% ... Well and the connection was that there were more crime in the "non-trusting"-countries

Turns out that attempting to rehabilitate people actually works better than locking up as many as possible in prisons run for profit!
