I kind of like the basic idea of this, especially if they have psychologists on hand.

Think, rather than just toss you into a big scary pit with a bunch of criminals with nothing left to strive towards for 5 years and hope that 'scares' you straight, (5 years is a long time, a couple weeks to a month in prison I would be to scared to go back again, 5 years and it's home I don't care how bad it is, 20+ and it would be my whole world. That's just how people are, they adapt.) they put you in a fully functional community based society that shows you how to try and work through your problems and figure out why you're there in the first place.

Summary of the Comments:

A: Everyone (even prisoners.) Should be treated humanly, otherwise they'll just become worse.

B: Prisoners are in prison for a reason, and should suffer for their crimes.

I'm personally in group A. Prison should be for reformation. I don't want that ****** to come out in 20-50 yrs and kill someone else. People forget their are plenty of Innocent folks in jail.

Think, if you ever get framed for a crime, or get caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time, or just piss off the wrong dude/girl, which prison do you want to go to?

I love how jibb is getting down thumbed when he has facts and sources, just because people don't like what he's saying. I have no opinion on Norway's prisons one way or the other, but I'm going with the side that has something to back up their claims.
#378 - mabanator (12/10/2013) [-]
I get this for some crimes yes, the whole logic that if you treat a crazy person bad they'll only be the same makes sense. All I'm saying is that if you are a rapist or a ******** you should be punished, for certain people yes this works but where is the justice? One of the major parts of the legal system is justice rehabilitation is secondary to that, so yes this is fine for SOME criminals but at the same time if some piece of crap ******* your kids do you want him here to be rehabilitated? I'd rather see him locked away and punished, it is justice, at least as much as you can get without breaking the law.

Punishing them won't undo the wrong, and if it makes you feel better than you are arguably as bad as them. Of course it's easy for me to say this as someone who has never lost someone to a ******** , so I can easily see it as being hard for the victim or their families to not get their "vengeance", however rehabilitating them is better for a society as a whole, in my opinion, as it teaches people to turn the other cheek and to not harm others because it's wrong, not because they might get caught and go to jail.

you don't get to define justice though

If youll excuse me, im going to go buy a plane ticket to norway and kill someone.
#371 - swedishassassin (12/10/2013) [-]
I get the rehabilitation thing. I really do. But if your prison is a comfortable condition with all expenses paid by the tax-payer, enough for me to want to go to prison, you have failed as a prison system.

I hate the world because I love some countries. **** my godamn mind and perspective.
User avatar #368 - slapchoppin (12/10/2013) [-]
well yeah prison isn't supposed to be about punishment its supposed to be about rehabilitation

turning criminals into productive members of society

but people seem too focused on justice and have forgotten that

We should have gone back to norway, rented a car , got 10000 euro worth in speeding fines and been imprisoned.

If you take away the bathroom and turn that cozy looking single bed into a bunk bed with gym-mat like mattresses, it looks a bit like my ROTC dorm room.
User avatar #353 - idiotapocalypse (12/10/2013) [-]
This is pretty exorbitant for Norway's 3 inmate's.
User avatar #352 - zerolimz (12/10/2013) [-]
why don't homeless people just comit a crime so the end up in prison? they get a free palce to sleep, eat, shower,....
User avatar #354 to #352 - vexaton (12/10/2013) [-]
Yeeeah... Why don't they do that... Oh wait, they're called immigrants, and they do that. I'm not saying only immigrants are taking up our prison cells, but man, if they commit crimes, they are either put in a 5 star prison, or they get to keep whatever they stole/made profit on.
User avatar #359 to #354 - zerolimz (12/10/2013) [-]
you're right forgot about them, no today i've seen a homeless and asked myself this question, but they already do indeed. thanks!
User avatar #362 to #359 - vexaton (12/10/2013) [-]
No worries. And by the way, not all prisons in Norway are like this, but a damn lot of them are pretty nice.
User avatar #366 to #362 - zerolimz (12/10/2013) [-]
looks like some of them are nicer than my appartment.
User avatar #367 to #366 - vexaton (12/10/2013) [-]
Indeed, they might be. I would rather live in one of those than my room. Well... That's not true, I just don't want to clean up all the mess...
User avatar #372 to #367 - zerolimz (12/10/2013) [-]
when i clean up (only if it's really bad) i usually just keep moving things instead of putting them away, and i always end up putting everything under my bed and sofa
User avatar #405 to #372 - vexaton (12/11/2013) [-]
Yeah I just move things around, and then move stuff into shelves, drawers and cabinets...
#349 - anonymous (12/10/2013) [-]
you are all ******* stupid.. only minor criminals are sent to facilities like this, do you really think breivik is chillin in his cell with cable tv and a shower? no..
#357 to #349 - vexaton (12/10/2013) [-]
Dude... This is Breivik's cell... Seriously, look it up... I hate the guy more than anyone in the world, so this kinda hurts me to post.
User avatar #358 to #357 - vexaton (12/10/2013) [-]
Btw, I'm saying I hate him more than I hate anyone else in the world, not that I am the one who hates him the most. I have my reasons
User avatar #345 - lordtriggs (12/10/2013) [-]
I'm going to get all the people I hate, take them to Norway then ****** them

that way I get rid of them and I get somewhere to live that will be nicer than anywhere I can afford

Sorry about the picture, only relevant thing i have

**** all prisoners. They're horrible disgraces for humans. They're terrible people and deserve to die a painful death. I don't give a damn about their childhood, that's stupid as hell. All I hear are excuses. I believe in self responsibility, taking responsibility for your own actions and not blaming them on anyone/anything else. Especially those in death row. It's complete ******** that they even get a last meal, especially one so extravagant. Every one of them did horrible crimes whether it be rape, ****** , or what ever. We should not give them a delicious meal, they should have to suffer. Eat barely anything, they don't deserve to be rewarded with such delicious foods of their choosing. Give them the bare minimum and kill them. **** them, they didn't care about their victims so we shouldn't care about them. They're disgusting excuses for human beings. Just completely ********** .
#343 to #337 - anonymous (12/10/2013) [-]
so what you're saying is that if a person is caught smoking weed, he should die?
#394 to #343 - anonymous (12/10/2013) [-]
He should be punished. Don't break the law. It's so ******* easy to just obey it. Do not smoke weed. How is that a difficult concept? No one is holding you down and forcing a blunt into your mouth. You are choosing to break the law. Accept the consequences.
