hi everyone. so, i've got a band. me and my two friends started it about 4 months ago, and we've got an EP released full of original songs. i realized that since we have a music board, why not get our music out there on funnyjunK?

www.reverbnation.com/theperjury

we're called the perjury, and all of the songs we have released are on the page i just linked. i would love it if you could go give it a listen, tell me what you think, and if you like us, then go like our page on facebook! anyway, listen if you want, and i hope you enjoy!

i'm the bassist, by the way!

You gotta do something besides play the chord progression if you want to play like Flea bro. But overall the structure and quality of the band is really nice and I'm not goin to tell someone how to play. nice job bro!

i've only been playing for about a year, and i'm not particularly musically talented as it is, but i'd say i do a good enough job of supporting the songs like i need to.

anyway, thanks man! it's appreciated.

Yeah that's one thing that a lot of bands do especially since a new punk scene is emerging. Being in a band where I wasn't put on the bass yet started it on bass I usually have cooler parts than the lead guitar sometimes.

well, we're writing some newer songs now with more independent basslines. did you listen to Take a Look though? i think the bassline there is cooler than the guitar part, and it's the lead part in concerts. it's nothing on the scale of flea, for sure; i'm really not very good, but still, i'm very proud of the bass in that song.

That was pretty good, listened to all of the tracks.

There's a bit too much going on on some of the tracks, Turn It Up was pretty nice but the drums and the guitar and the bass were all doing their thing at once and it was kinda messy, especially with the dude just randomly going "Turn it Up!" every so often haha. I like the surf rock feel of it though.

Dreaming is a nice track, sounds like a something Vampire Weekend would do (Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa much?) The vocals work best on that track I think, they were to Rage Against the Machine wannabe on the early track I think. It needs something else to make it a bit fuzzier, a filter or backing vocals or something, turned down a little. Maybe I've been listening to The Strokes too much.

Black Sundress is not my kind of thing. Too much hitting thinks hard and talking rapping and drum fills. I can remember who it sounds like but I heard them when I was 9 and thought that's what I should listen to to be cool (It's not).

I like it, keep posting your stuff her, I'm interested to see where you go with it, potential for sure, once you decide on a direction.

the turn it up dude is me, actually :P

believe me, it sounds great at concerts lol.

but, yeah, like i said below, the EP is just to kind of see what we can do. we're releasing an LP soon, hopefully, with a more singular direction.

You have great potential, it's the production at the moment, which is something else entirely from writing the music in the first place. The vocals come across as too clean, like they're on a separate track or something. It's hard to explain but I've got some songs where the vocals are only in one ear, and it has a similar feel to that, where they sound quite isolated, and it doesn't work or me really.

Don't go alt-grunge haha, garage rock! Garage rock!

I thought the opposite, the vocals were too sharp for me at least.

Music is hard.
