I am a mormon, and you are half right down there....not in over 100 years.
And heres what I tell everyone, you cant marry two people, so why do you think we can? Religion or not, there are still legal things involved. We cant, we dont want to, and we havent.

I am ready for your hate.

Except South Utah with the FLDS

My friend is and showed me in the Mormon Bible (don't know the correct term) that you can actually get excommunicated for it.
User avatar #72 to #68 - classygentleman (10/17/2013) [-]
Aye, oddly enough its called "The book of Mormon", its supposedly sort of a journal of the apostles. The only bible we have is THE bible, same as the Catholics.
#77 to #72 - anon (10/17/2013) [-]
No, the Book of Mormon is a separate record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. It is God's word, like the Bible. It is another testament of Jesus Christ, prophesied to be brought forth in the Old Testament Books of Isaiah, Amos, and even NT's Revelation, to name a few. Visit "FairMormon" to learn more.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it was legal in a few states.
#44 to #30 - endospore ONLINE (10/17/2013) [-]
Just looked it up and got this map off wikipedia. Blue is fully illegal, black is fully legal, and other colors are in the middle, like not explicitly legal, but not explicitly illegal either.

And just to be fully clear, polygamy (and polygyny) are illegal throughout the entire USA.
#78 to #44 - anon (10/17/2013) [-]
50 years prior to Mormons ending the practice, the church was established in all four corners of the earth. If they wanted to practice it somewhere else, they could've. But God deemed otherwise, and knew that the ordinance had fulfilled its purpose, thus allowing the prophets of the time to receive revelation and end the practice. Anyone who practices polygamy today is not a Mormon, and is excommunicated from the church. In the Bible, polygamy is authorized when God calls upon his church to raise up seed. That's what happened with the Latter-day Saints (Mormons).

What do you actually believe ?
I ask this because what i hear may be wrong
User avatar #19 to #16 - classygentleman (10/17/2013) [-]
Despite popular belief, we are christians. We believe Jesus is the son of god, and that he died for our sins, be good person, go to heaven, be bad person, go to hell.

We are basically catholics with a different version of heaven.
We have special clothes we wear when we go to our temples, just like catholic priests and nuns wear theirs, and jews have their yamakas.

#64 to #19 - thatonenerd (10/17/2013) [-]
The main reason you are not considered christians is your belief that the faithful become the equals of God in the afterlife. You may believe that Jesus is the son of God, but most christian churches have more than that in common.
User avatar #71 to #64 - classygentleman (10/17/2013) [-]
We dont think we become equal with god lol, Ive never heard anyone mention anything of the sort.
#73 to #71 - thatonenerd (10/17/2013) [-]
Doctrines and Covenants, I believe around 132-30. You should at least be somewhat familiar with your own work of scripture, especially the parts that people will take the most issue with.
#79 to #73 - anon (10/17/2013) [-]
Visit FairMormon to learn the truth of our doctrine. We become joint-heirs with Christ, not equal with God. In fact, the notion that we become equal with God has been repudiated vehemently by our living prophets. Anyway, this is a biblical concept. You're just being ignorant.
#127 to #79 - thatonenerd (10/18/2013) [-]
Since when has providing proof from a source been considered ignorant. Your response differs from what several of the elders of your church have said. Especially since president monson (not sure if i spelled his name right) said that Jesus died and was resurected as part of him becoming as powerful as God. Therefore, if we are equals of Jesus, we are also equals of God. Which the new testament, which you hold to be true, says is heresy. So...how is the use of logic being ignorant? I could also go into the fact that Lief Erikson did not see any of the tribes of Israel when he landed in north america around the year 1000 A.D.. All he saw were Skr├Žlings. just, if you did a mission, part of that mission should have involved defending your faith against arguments against it. But none of the missionaries I have talked to have managed to do that. Even the Stake president here has not been able to rebut my statement which, while not all grounded in science, at least have a solid theological backing.

Its still funny but the whole thing about Jesus in America and turning everyones skin from white to red is a joke, and I've never read anything about thinking the angel was an indian lol. the golden plates we do believe in and frankly Id be willing to debate that among many things.

Just like the bible a lot of things that are told are....questionable..."And the entire world flooded for 40 days and 40 nights" Orly?

Supposedly jesus is coming back, thats not at all how the translation went.

Sorry this is rather fragmented, typing after each minute or so of video.
The losing the first transcript and not being aloud to make another thing I have not heard of. One good thing to keep in mind, is this is about as accurate a portrayal of Mormonism as "The life of brian" Is of Christianity lol

#80 to #22 - anon (10/18/2013) [-]
That thing about skin turning from white to red is not only not a belief of our church, but is derived from misinterpretations from the Book of Mormon. You are spreading anti-Mormon information because you are filled with hatred.

No no, I think that was totally called for. I'm sure a lot of people believe that, especially with overly commercialized reality shows on the subject.
