When i was about 6 i saw one of these illusions at a waterpark and i tought it looked amazing and wanted to stand under it (in the water) but to my surprised i ran straight in to a huge metal pole. i will never forgive whoever created that

User avatar #14 to #1 - ninjapieguy (04/19/2014) [-]
No, PIPE hidden in the water. The water has to get up there somehow.
User avatar #53 to #14 - xplosevdiarrhea (04/19/2014) [-]
Is a pipe not a pole simply with more purpose?
#65 to #53 - anon (04/19/2014) [-]
Pipe/Pole/Tube (and many else) literally means the same ******* thing.

It's really just comes to down to its purpose

when i was about 5 i was at a water park in Spain, there was this exact illusion there. i have been contemplating this ******* floating tap for years. I have thought about it at least like twice a year since i saw it. Then you with your ******* pipe thing. I don't know if i love you for finally giving me the answer or hate you for ruining one of my last pieces of child hood magic. Either thank you or **** you. You can decide

User avatar #42 to #30 - twatter (04/19/2014) [-]
Oh Spain, I remember as a kid I was really amazed by it.
Then my parents told me how it worked and my tiny heart shattered into a million pieces.
User avatar #47 to #30 - bjornkrage (04/19/2014) [-]
some of my friends who were in spain showed me a picture of it, too. Apparently it's in some illusion museum or something.

There is a pipe hidden in the water flow. It returns water to the top and holds the structure aloft.

Clear tube goes down the middle, and is covered by the water. A much smaller version of this use to be at our local fair. (either that, or this one is just photoshopped)
User avatar #22 to #21 - playerdous (04/19/2014) [-]
You're right, you can barely see an outline of a tube at the bottom
User avatar #68 - wilburn (04/19/2014) [-]
its just being held up from a pipe in the center and water flows out of the sides of the exit, i actually have one of these, its a wooden bucket with a "floating" foundation

In Southern California schools this year, we had to take a standardized test on one of these, but instead it was a coffee cup in the mall.
They asked us ridiculous questions about it and asked to calculate how much coffee was in the pot.

There's a tube inside the falling water pumping it back up. The water is set in a way so that in conceals the tube.

A small percentage of American will take 10 second to realize that the support structure for the sculpture is hidden inside the dropping water stream.
