God, I hate Democrats and Republicans. Both parties are full of liars and hypocrites, so don't count on anything they say. The only think I can come up with is that maybe the Republicans want to generate more tax dollars with weed. Y'know, the standard argument for legalization. It'd be surprising to hear, but if they are than that's a strange turn.

Getting old. His son wants to see if he can win this time around, and he actually has a fighting chance. The media made Ron Paul out to be too radical (which, honestly, he was a little), but he was sort of right.

And yet, ironically, we created the problem ourselves The reason the US "won" the Cold War was because we were willing to do more to "win"...without considering how it could all come back to bite us in the ass, point and case, the drug cartels, Al Qaeda etc.
User avatar #75 to #62 - playerdous (07/01/2014) [-]
The Cold War was a different time, back then teachers could get fired for just disagreeing with something the US gov said.

Considering how fractured the Republican party is, it's hard to tell what the "official" policy is. You're better off looking at politicians on a case-by-case basis.

I just don't understand how they can say "keep big government out of my business" but then turn around and say that big government is okay as long as it means women can't get an abortion or have birth control on healthcare.

I really think our problem is we let big businesses **** us in the ass. They have so many loopholes and the trinkle down system just doesn't work. Sorry for rambling it's just a lot of things.
#44 to #15 - anon (07/01/2014) [-]
I mean religion is pretty much a part of who someone is, it makes up their morals, I mean what are you talking about specifically aside from the obvious gay marriage issue? Abortion's an obvious one that religious folk often come down on the side of pro life but there are plenty of secular people that are the same. "...bring religion into government" is a kind of unintelligible without some examples to be frank.
#49 to #44 - anon (07/01/2014) [-]

>I still believe I chose the lesser of the two evils

It's what I tell myself every ******* time he screws up. :/ Like Playerdous I wasn't eligible to vote the first time around..... but McCain in hindsight wasn't a terrible candidate.
User avatar #85 to #84 - mrnpc (07/01/2014) [-]

User avatar #81 to #80 - playerdous (07/01/2014) [-]
I couldn't vote the first time. I wanted McCain because I liked McCain's energy policy. On all other issues I was split 50/50.
The second time around I didn't vote because I hated both choices and at the time thought any 3rd party wouldn't make it. 3rd party still won't but I'll at least vote for one next time.

I am not registered with anything. I use this hammer & sickle to show that I care a lot about worker's rights. I don't use it to want "communism" because communism can't work in these times. User avatar #89 to #87 - exclamation (07/01/2014) [-]
Basically. I think guns are an intimidation factor. Honestly, as a thug in my house at 3 AM, what would you be more afraid of: two people wielding a gun and a child calling 911 or two people wielding blunt objects?
User avatar #99 to #89 - Deeticky (07/01/2014) [-]
I've never met a deomocrat who wants to take guns out of people's houses. Even as a democrat myself, I strongly support castle laws. However, guns need to be taken out of the hands of violent offenders, and not enough is being done about the illegal weapons trade.
User avatar #97 to #73 - Deeticky (07/01/2014) [-]
Why do you think they would take away every last gun in America? I was elected as a delegate to my democratic state convention, and the only resolution we had regarding guns was about background checks at gunshows and online... In fact, I don't think I've ever met a democrat who wants to take away everyone's guns. I know they exist, but they're a very small minority right now.

**reginleif rolled image** Republicans don't want to legalize weed, just like they don't want to have immigration reform or want gay marriage, some Republicans are supporting these things to get elected. Not surprisingly politicians tend to mirror the values of their constituents.

If Republicans wanted to legalize weed, you would have legalized weed. If they wanted Gay marriage, or immigration reform, you'd have those things... because Republicans have historically been the opposing force in these social issues.

It's a balancing act they're trying to play between the young voters and the elderly bible belt ancients who just won't die, but are actually more dependable voters. :/

There's a reason why the Libertarian wing of the Republican party is only a fringe.

I didn't want to go into a rant about Republicans seeing as I like some of their ideas, I like guns, I support the idea of the death penalty, and am pretty weirded out by some of the workings of the Democrat party..... but c'mon know where your party stands on an issue, and GOP isn't a weed friendly party.
