Today I let one ofthe girls at my internship paint my nails. A few girls
exclaimed, Ihat' s weird!” and one boy timidly asked, 'are you actually
letting her paint your nails?" I told them that boys are allowed to paint
their nails and asked them who told them they couldn' t? None ofthem
had an answer. And the boys came overtones nail painting
station and started doing their own nails. and each others nails, and one
boy even got really excited and asked if he could do my other hand and it
was just a really cool thing to see.
When the parents came to pick upthe kids, the boy who had
enthusiastically painted my nails, started scraping off his nail polish. I
asked him why he was doing that an he said that one time he wore his
sister' s nail polish and his dad gave him a 'whoopin"_ And then, in the
meekest voice I' very heard., he whispers, "but next time I come to [the
program], I think I' Imjust paint them again, anyways-. Ithink sometimes
parents can be wrong about I and whispered back,
l think you might be right] And helped mistake the rest outwith nail
polish remover-
And that was the coolest moment of my day.

the tips of my finger and my nails included turned bright pink for a couple of weeks and I had no idea why, my boss almost fired me because he thought I was a queer thanks to it.
Month later I found out it's because I had a bunch of smoke bombs in my coat jacket that had dissolved and released their coloring.

One time in middle school I coloured my nails black with a marker and my friend did the same. One of the african american kids in the class said to me "your nails are black" and my friend replied "so is your skin."
I still see him as a good friend even though he got expelled and sells drugs.

The thing that annoys me about posts like this is that the people who post them just seem to do it for attention. You can tell by the way he took the picture, if I wanted to take a picture of my hand my face wouldn't be in it at all. This guy doesn't give a **** about kids or nail polish, he just wants to make himself look good on social media sites.

Is that an "#inspirational" I see on the bottom?

Still, I suppose it's a step up from posting a picture of your meal.

I think it's more to show that he's not a sissy boy and has a beard and piercing(s).

Maybe the kid inspired him?

Everyone knows you post your meals on instagram. Duh.

I don't paint my nails because my hands are veiny, tendon-y looking pieces of horrifying flesh and bone. Have my nails a different color will not make them look better. Also, I do think painting nails is feminine behavior, so sue me.

THEN PAINT THEM THE COLORS OF FLESH AND BLOOD SO THAT YOUR ENEMIES WILL KNOW THE TERROR THEY FACE UPON THIS DAY.

With the nose being the first thing I noticed followed by the fingernails, I thought he had like way picked his nose a lot and left it on his fingers.

I'm sure all the kids at his school will completely understand and change their views on gender roles. Not really, they'll call him a fag then his dad will beat him again. Well done, op. I can already tell by your nose ring that you make good decisions with positive outcomes, you're exactly the kind of person I would want hanging around my kids.

this, i don't really see the problem in all this gender-restriction ******** , i paint my nails now and then when im home alone, just for the heck of it, and really, tell me ONE THING that is strange about boys having their nails painted, or infact almost any other gender-restricted stuff, i tell you whats weird, the community of the world
#214 - bouazizforever (09/27/2013) [-]
Dude, boys painting their nails? What is wrong with you people? That's just gross and wrong.
User avatar #211 - ultimatebadass (09/27/2013) [-]
I understand the point to this and all but I don't know if he should really make it seem like a norm to these kids, personally at that age it's kinda cute and funny but if he grows up thinking nail polish is a norm on males then he goes out wearing it in school or something. People will give him a hard time, it's just the way it is,that's how people are I know a kid when I was in school that came to school wearing lipstick, and he was picked on so much. I don't agree with telling the kids this is fine just because people will pick on him in the real world for it
#215 to #211 - sxeindi (09/27/2013) [-]
That's the point though. We shouldn't pick on someone just because we're accustomed to gender norms and how boys should act. That stuff is a thing of the past and the OP is probably just happy that those barriers are being broken down. That's what I got from it anyways.
User avatar #216 to #215 - ultimatebadass (09/27/2013) [-]
Yeah I know that's what I meant when I said I understand the point, but the sad thing is most people don't see it this way, and if he goes out like this, when hes a kid anyway other kids will pick on him. So it's good they're breaking the norms but also other kids won't be ****** enough to see it this way, from my understanding anyway. maybe kids are different nowadays from when I was younger tho

This is the internet, where people get to hide behind anonymous screen names. If you want to talk to someone nice go to canada. Seriously that's not a joke canada is the tits.

Nobody is forbidding me to do it, I just consider it a stupid act on it's own (yes, that means even when girls do it). I would place it under a lower category of tattoos, piercings, hair dying and other pointless activities in which we abuse our body for... err... our own amusement or something...
User avatar #206 to #204 - richardastley (09/27/2013) [-]
I've always considered nail polishing/painting to be the weirdest form of make-up. Like you wear blush to highlight the beauty of your face, try to bring out your cheek bones or whatever. You wear eye make-up to highlight your eyes in different ways. You style your hair to frame your face, and blah blah blah. I get that. I just don't understand how having red or blue or whatever non-flesh-coloured nails shows any kind of beauty. Maybe it was originally a rebellion thing that became beautiful (like having dyed hair), but it definitely seems really weird when you think about it.
#207 to #206 - Blasphemer (09/27/2013) [-]
Well, think about it as tattoos that you can change and remove regularly... Some people enjoy weird forms of art I guess... Or most probably: monkey see monkey do...
