It doesn't matter how big the bag is, you pay by the oz, not by the size

Though this is usually true, Quality control problems often accidentally miss underweighted bags, that are not caught on the line. so while weight is why not all bags are near empty, by no means are all bags distributed perfect, or even truly the right weight.

On the other hand The machine seems to always catch over full bags...

I bought a bag of Lays air once. Bastards thought it would be funny to put some potato chips in there.

You complain about how there arent a lot of chips in the bags but in reality, if they filled the bags up the chips would go bad. I dunno about you guys but id rather eat a small amount of delicious chips then a ton of gross stale ones

Pringles taste amazing and they actually fill the tube up.
#12 to #3 - anon (09/27/2013) [-]
Actually bags are filled with air so you get a bag of chips instead of bag of potato dust and sad bits of chip jigsaw puzzle.
User avatar #8 to #3 - ipaintmyfloor (09/27/2013) [-]
Chips don't need that much nitrogen to stay "fresh." It's mostly just the oxygen that makes them stale, which is why the bags are supposed to be sealed.
#15 to #8 - thatquickbrownfox (09/27/2013) [-]
Dude, the air's there so that the chips don't get crushed in stores etc. How is that so difficult for people to understand? You should thank them for the air. Anyways, you pay by the weight of the chips, not of the air.

Either way, Pringles Master Race.

I just realized something. Why the **** did you reply to me? I'm not retarded, I already knew all of that stuff, nor have I hinted that I thought that either. You should've replied to hurleyy. He's the one who thought that the air was for keeping the chips fresh and not for shipping purposes.
#57 to #55 - thatquickbrownfox (09/28/2013) [-]
Right. My bad. (bout the who-to-reply-to mistake)
User avatar #30 to #15 - ipaintmyfloor (09/27/2013) [-]
Most bags of chips are shipped within boxes and the only time they'd be severely crushed by anything would be when the stockperson, customer, and cashier are personally handling the bags themselves. You're half right about paying for the weight. Generally bags of chips, and other foods like cereal, need be within a certain range of weight before being sold. If they are in the weight range they are sold for a set price. Saying that I pay for the weight of the chips is slightly inaccurate due to the fact that even though 2 bags may differ slightly in weight, they are still sold for the same price.

I'm more of a hot cheetos guy myself, but all this talk about chips makes me want some classic potato chips
#35 to #30 - anon (09/27/2013) [-]
That'd happen regardless of the amount of air or size of the bag mate.
User avatar #36 to #35 - ipaintmyfloor (09/27/2013) [-]
I don't exactly know what "that" might be referring to, so I'll guess. Yes if they put in less air and more chips the price will go up. I hope I didn't suggest that replacing air with chips would keep the price of the bag the same. I thought it was obvious.

Isn't the air in there to keep the chips form breaking or something. Besides you pay for example 400 grams of Lays chips. That is 400 grams of chips. Air doesn't weigh much if you didn't know and the bag is also quite light i presume. So if you want a bag that has a lot of chips in it. Just look at the weight.
User avatar #19 - datmanksa (09/27/2013) [-]
if lays didn't add air the chips would be ruined and packaging like pringless is harder and longer to make , i don't understand why all the complain
User avatar #22 to #19 - lordjask (09/27/2013) [-]
That doesn't mean you just put air in 70% of the packet.
