Reminds me of the german version of Saving Private Ryan. The soldiers find a german, who is just scared as **** and is always jelling: "Scheiß auf Hitler, scheiß auf Hitler!", german for " **** Hitler, **** Hitler!". The problem is, the movie is dubbed, so when one US soldier asks another IN GERMAN what he is saying, it just looks plain weird.

I remember asking my teacher that in grade 10 when we watched the boy in the stripped pajamas and she was said in a very sarcastic, bitchy way,
"Because if they spoke in german we wouldn't understand what they were saying"
So I said,
"Well I can't speak for you, but I am capable of reading subtitles." Safe to say I didn't get to watch the movie.

Despite it being a comedy, I think Tropic Thunder did that very well. Most of the Lao only spoke their language, except for a very select few. Or they just didn't feel like paying more people to have dialogue. Whatevs

is that really an important component to the joke?
Is that the only thing wrong with the post?
Something you would never hear in a war movie.

See, now, I always thought that, too.
And in anime where clearly the language of the country is not Japanese (let's discount Hetalia because no one watching knows every language in the world), but they're still speaking Japanese. Which is fine, but then weeaboos rant about "omg sub not dub, dub ruins it, you're not a true fan". Bitch, when a character like Ed Elric or Ciel Phantomhive writes and says every other word in English, I may as well watch it in English.
Especially when a character speaks Engrish and I need subtitles for it. Such as the English teacher in Shaman King.
