So...does this work on a modern coin, too?
User avatar #42 - coolioplasm (09/26/2013) [-]
This guy just wanted to show the fact that he has a really old coin

I have one of these and its pretty cool too. It has a macro lens which does the same thing as this laser pointer trick, a wide angle lens, and a fisheye lens.Taking a panoramic with the fisheye looks crazy. Of course this costs money though so the laser pointer trick works too.....
User avatar #184 to #44 - bjornkrage (09/27/2013) [-]
yeah, i think those costs a good 20-100$ depending on quality, while most cheap as **** lasers costs like 3$

But how does the laser pointer work without the glass lens.

Does it become a weapon of mass destruction.

** *********** rolled a random image posted in comment #22 at Euphoric ** no...the laser needs something to focus the beam or else it turns into a usless flashlight that doesnt go past the metal
#185 to #74 - bjornkrage (09/27/2013) [-]
**bjornkrage rolled a random image posted in comment #4412861 at Click an item and pick it up **

yeah, it's basically the weakest red flashlight ever, and you'll pretty much only be able to see red with it.

on the contrary, if you focus a flashlight, it'll become really bright, but in one spot, so that's pretty much worthless, too.
User avatar #3 - dunkleosteus (09/26/2013) [-]
that is an old as **** coin.
User avatar #6 to #3 - lordlolland (09/26/2013) [-]
Considering that coins have been used since around 600BC, it is fairly new.
User avatar #14 to #6 - dunkleosteus (09/26/2013) [-]
The first evidence of money is between 3000-2500 BC. The average life expecntancy of an american coin is 25 years. In 2006, the us government released 8,234,000,000 pennies. All things considered, a 124 year old coin is pretty rare.
User avatar #161 to #6 - dapianoman (09/27/2013) [-]
Considering the vast majority of coins in circulation today were minted in the late-20th to early-21st century, it's old as **** .
User avatar #8 to #6 - goodguygary ONLINE (09/26/2013) [-]
relatively new i think you mean, it's still a fairly old coin on its own.

It should work just fine, you're just applying an additional lens to the camera.

Yeah. It isn't like OP says to drop it in water, or microwave it first, or anything like that.

look they're overpriced and have horrible DRM and a really terrible attachment to proprietary hardware and software.

But apple products are an example of top notch engineering.

Get off the bandwagon, man. It's meant to hate the fanbase more than the product anyway.

And what of it? It's a good device. It's a very expensive device, but it's still a good one. I've had two iPod Touches over (I think) 6 years; they're great for music and for quick trips to the Internet. The interface is easy to use and very clean, and I used to have all the Pokemon games on it when I jailbroke it. If I had the money for an iPhone plan, I probably would have gotten one.

Say what you will about Macs and Apple as a company, but they got the iPod lines right in my my opinion.
User avatar #16 to #9 - symustafa (09/26/2013) [-]
Their products are not **** per say, they are good products overall. But for what they are, they are overpriced in my opinion, especially their computers.
User avatar #61 to #16 - murphypop (09/26/2013) [-]
I definitely agree, although I have yet to find a better mp3 player.
User avatar #11 to #9 - epicalania (09/26/2013) [-]
Ipods are ok, Iphones are a bit worse, macs are **** .
The actual processing is fine for what most people who buy them need/want the problem is all the stuff your not allowed to do even though its illogical to not let you, like sending pictures to non-iphone phones.
User avatar #19 to #11 - vondraco (09/26/2013) [-]
I can send photos with my iPhone to my girlfriend who has a Samsung and vice versa just fine.
I can see why people hate on Apple for their macs, but if you don't really do much in terms of modifying your phone - there's nothing wrong with iPhones. Frankly I don't really care about phones and only have an old Sony Ericsson and Nokias to compare with, but from what I've experienced so far they're nice phones, next to no complaints.
#52 to #11 - joshlol (09/26/2013) [-]

#120 to #52 - myshipsailedwoutme (09/26/2013) [-]
My phone can't download a picture if it was sent from an iPhone. Don't ask why, but it just doesn't work with some phones.

User avatar #59 to #26 - yusay (09/26/2013) [-]
Tons of restrictions, hurdles you have to jump through to get certain things to work, etc.

In itself they aren't that bad, just overpriced. Which is why I got an Ipod Touch instead.

To a person who doesn't have either, it'd be better to just go buy a magnifying glass.
