I'm really hating the new season so far. Korra's problems this season could've easily been fixed if she just listened to the people who care about her. You're spiritually weak? Oh, how about ******* listening to Tenzin, or, hell, contacting Aang to help you with that problem. You're dad lied to you in order to protect you? Gee, isn't that obvious enough? You're tribe is hating you for not doing your duty? Well, maybe if you looked at the situation from an indifferent perspective, you'd understand why. Jesus, its like all the things she learned in season 1 were forgotten.

Not to mention how her relationship with Mako depends on her doing well as an avatar or not. I'd like to see some real bending. Not this new nerfed type but the old and gold style like the gang used to

She DID forget it because she's a teenager with a **** ton of angst in her and pressure because she's the most important single person in the world.

It'd be a little ******* overwhelming if nearly everyone seems to want to control your life and your uncle is the only one that's saying, "You know what? What do YOU want to do?"

TL;DR: That's the point of the whole plot so far.

See, most people get annoyed by Korra's stubbornness, and I can see why. But to me, that's what makes her more interesting. She's the complete opposite of Aang. Aang was calm, collected and was more dependant on his friends. Korra is an angst-filled, frustrated teenage girl who wants to be independent but needs her friends. I think that makes her a more interesting character. Nothing will compare to the original show, but LOK is a fine addition in my eyes.

I think you're being a little rough still. In her defense, she IS a 16 year old girl who has to bear the weight of being the avatar on her soldier(Yes, compared to Aang who was 112 that was nothing). I believe the entire idea of her flipping out so often was that so it could be explained that she has been sheltered all her life, and that it isn't that easy for her to just calm down. I was a little frustrated about how stupid she was being so ignorant too, but at the end of the third episode she finally acknowledges her actions and apologizes for them, so they ARE showing some character progression that could mean a lot for the series later on.

yeah, but Aang wasnt a frustrated teenage girl. He was a young, wise, smart Temple Monk. he didnt have parents to complain about, and he basicly went around travelling with just his child friends with no adults telling them what to do all the time.

The way i see it, its completely irrelevant. Aang already defeated fire lord ozai before he came under anyones responsibility, i find it not comparable to Korra who was always told what to do since she was convieced.

I would because she's the Avatar, not a regular teenager, she knows who she is since a she was a little girl, and since then, she was treated as the avatar instead of just a girl.

Precicly, which is why she gets mad when her family wont recognise her as the avatar, but just a daughter I.E her father intercepting Korra trying to make peace between nothern soldiers and southern civilians.

That is also why she is bitchin about tenzin, she needs spiritual training and only Unalaq can teach her that.
She also didnt like being kept in the southern pole as a prisoner by her parents instead of exploring the other nations and travelling around whilst training, learning the culture as well as the bending. She went along because she thought it was the White Lotus who made her do that, but it was her dad and tenzin who kept her there.

And she is a teenage girl, that fact would never change. Even aang had typical boy problems, freaking Katara and everything.

She being mad at her dad for keeping secrets is just the regular teenage girl bitchin going on.

Hiding with tenzin on an island won't stop the spirits from destroying the southern tribe

And being "nonspiritual" is the reason she can't contact Aang in the first place

But seriously all her problems were solved for her.

Tarlokk killed Amon
She had her bending stripped forcing her to use Airbending
Aang restored her bending
Asami broke up with Mako so he could date Korra

What did she do?

She broke up with him because (I think it was never elaborated on) she didn't want to be with a guy who had a hard on for one of his best friends.
But again, it just seems like most of the relationships were forced.

I dont like the writing of Korra.
For one the avatar state. She can enter it at ******* will but Aang needs to unlock all of his chakras to control it?
And then theres the whole having most trouble learning your opposite yet she masters fire bending like its nothing.
Shes getting handed everything and it ******* annoys me.

Still, learning it in the first season in one friggin episode? its supposed to be a defense mechanism too. she just gets handed everything on a silver platter. She'll know earth bending and be a "fully realized avater" before the end of the second season at this rate.

Well, like I said she was given the ability, she didn't learn it. Also, she technically is a fully realized avatar because she knows all 4 elements already. She just barely uses earth bending.

Because they didn't want to make Avatar the Last Airbender Pt 2. They wanted Legend of Korra, a completely new tale that is only similar to the first in terms of the setting. It wouldn't be any interesting if it was the same story told with a different character.

And she only "mastered" 3 elements before the show started, with Fire being finished in the first episode. She's also 5 years older than Aang was, and knew she was the Avatar since around 3-5 years old, and more than likely started her Avatar training earlier than Aang did, without a whole War to interrupt it.

Also, and this is directed to everyone commenting:
A fully-realized Avatar is simply an Avatar that has conscious control of the Avatar State. It has nothing to do with the number of elements mastered thus far.

And it was going to be a 12 episode series originally, so they had to condense EVERYTHING they wanted.

You have to keep in mind that she went through all of that. Aang was incased in ice before he started his avatar training, therefore we saw him do all the training throughout the series. Korra was already doing her avatar training before the show started, which is why she knows all the elements already. And before the show started she didn't know Airbending, she only learned it after defeating Amon

Then there's all the forced romance and lazy writing. The first Avatar was a sense of urgency and adventure, the second one?...Eh as a show on it's own I guess it's okay. But compared to the original it doesn't stack up. Know what the legend of korra is? It's Dragon age 2. **** when compared to the original but okayish on it's own. I feel like i'm the only own that doesn't like the whole girl main character thing.

and what was tolerable? the recycled scenes? the obvious plottwists, the "I gotta poop" face when your mom dies a "*****************************" kinda way? the lack of any sort of freedom since you were stuck in one city? the bad characters? the huge boobs and combat that hasn't changed, just made faster? (that's kind of a joke because of that dwarf that tells the story, boobs are smaller when he's not telling a story, and even bigger in the prologue)

oh, and every romantic interest was just.... weird
gay mage, hot pirate, ugly ginger chick, weird ******* elves, turning the Quinari from "bronze skinned giants" into basically demons with weird motives?

I think the element opposite to your personality is what's most difficult. Korra, being headstrong and aggressive probably had no issue learning fire and earth especially because she had several years to master them but because of her aggressive attitude, it made airbending the more difficult element to learn in lieu of fire.
I actually liked this choice more. Instead of going the more obvious route of giving Korra troubles with fire seeing as it's a waterbender's natural opposite, they gave her a personal opposite that became her major obstacle.

I'm not a huge fan of how she suddenly was able to airbend after she lost all her other bending abilities or how she was just kinda handed energybending by a past life but I'm firmly in the belief that the writers went this route because they were under the impression that they didn't have the time to draw things out and give Korra the development she needs. However, the writers now have the time to do just that and I trust that they'll be able to go back and attempt to explain this and that via the Spirit World. They've already proven themselves to be amazing and capable with The Last Airbender. I trust they know what they're doing especially now that they have the time to do it.
