"cool bands"
music evolves; stop living in the past
User avatar #111 to #2 - hellsjester (09/26/2013) [-]
name one band from this generation that will be anything more than a phase a year from now and make legendary status such as 80's rock and rap. 50's and 60's amazing pop. or even 90's 1 hit wonders. not to mention the 1700's classical. this generation is known for "she don't know she's beautiful", "baby" and "you a stupid hoe" oh almost forgot about skrillex's printer sounds. that's devolution sorry to say.

music has evolved to the worse since it became an industrial product
In any case, all those "cool bands" he is talking about are just slightly less **** than modern day music
obviously I am talking only about mainstream music

Most 'popular' music today isn't bands, they're single artists. There are few very well known bands today. There are none as famous as Led Zeppelin or Queen, so technically, this post is correct.

szymonf is correct. music does evolve, but the only reason music today sucks is because EVERYONE makes it popular even though it sucks. If you really want a band with pure talent, REAL TALENT, to become as big as they deserve. Spread that **** to every corner of the internet. Pop music isn't the future because music continues to change, if you want rock music back, buy music for every rock band you know of, buy music even if you don't know them, buy it simply because it will slowly drain the pop music industry of the endless ******* and money effectively ending the stupidity of Nikki Minaj and Justin Beiber. I'm not saying Rock music is dead, because plenty of good rock bands still exist out there, i'm saying that only YOU can determine how the world runs whether its the music industry, or the country in general.

TL;DR: Make non ****** music popular by spreading it even if it's crap in your eyes

My dad used to tell me stories about buying records for bands he'd never heard of, putting them in a closet, and then years later opening them up, listening to them, and really liking them. That's how he heard of more than a few bands, apparently.

The problem is one, pirating (however, I do support pirating, for different reasons) and coupled with that, musicians unwilling to change with the times - the idea of "free" music and whatnot. I know of at least one that encouraged pirating when the record company wouldn't release their album on time.

There were still a lotta good bands back then, too. not to mention 'the past' covers a lot more music than 'now/today'

It isn't that their ISN'T good music nowadays, it's the fact the popular music of nowadays is **** ******* pop music... sure I can still find new bands that play good 'ole rock and roll, but I can't appreciate them to the extent that people who grew up in the 70's and 80's did. Like I had never hard of Cage the Elephant before Borderlands, that game was the only way I found new, good music really...

There's plenty of good music today, you just need to spend a little time looking for it.

No it's not thanks to the internet. A few hours on a music board or a website like last.fm and you'll have a music library of thousands of songs of bands that you adore.
