This post makes me upset in many levels.
I've found so many examples where people try to protect those who could potentially "get offended", but the matter of fact the people who should be offended really does not care.

I'd rather see those who are offended stand up for themselves before taking action instead of going with assumptions.

I read a comment on a huffington post article once (in case you're unaware, huffpo is one of the most liberal news sources there is) stating:

"I'm not sure whether or not I'm offended by this."

Solidifying the theory that liberals pass literally everything they see through a filter that determines, "can I find a way for this to offend me".

And I've heard the same arguments from conservatives when they tell me that something is wrong because it's against the Bible and I show them that they're wrong. They just blow up and act like I'm insulting their faith when they're the ones putting it out there for debate, yet I don't believe that all conservatives are such silly people because I know that beating the Bible til the other person submits is not a tenant of conservative ideology even if many of its adherents believe so. Same goes for a liberal ideology. Some people are just stupid and hate having to provide evidence to their point.
User avatar #203 to #187 - twofreegerbils (09/26/2013) [-]
Sorry, but you don't know what a conservative is evidently. The definition has been warped by misuse, but a true conservative is just that: conservative. No big government, just me, myself, and I. What other people do doesn't matter unless it affects me.

I am a true conservative and your religious beliefs and expressions don't bother me in the least until they cause me physical distress.
User avatar #205 to #203 - jrondeau **User deleted account** (09/26/2013) [-]
Yes, but some people who identify themselves as conservative do take offense to my beliefs on religion and then try to use that to their point. I never said that you personally did, only that there are idiots on both sides who do the same thing, just in a different manner. You're saying that liberals try to find any reason to be offended (and by going off of only a single comment on a Huffington post article) if another group may be offended by a statement, but only some do that and something as silly as that is not part of the liberal ideology; said people are just being stupid. By the same token, just because a few idiots who identify as conservative like to thump their Bibles and then flip **** on people who say anything to the contrary doesn't mean that such a practice is part of the conservative ideology; they too are just being stupid.
User avatar #212 to #205 - twofreegerbils (09/26/2013) [-]
It's completely true I was generalizing when I used the word "liberals", but forcing your religion on other people is actually a far-left practice and not conservative at all, and anyone who does this thing and identifies as conservative, is sorely misinformed, because they are more a communist than a conservative.
User avatar #218 to #212 - jrondeau **User deleted account** (09/26/2013) [-]
Regardless of where the practice comes from though, it's still not a part of the conservative ideology, even though most of the people you see who have adopted that practice do indeed identify as conservative (at least here in America). There are plenty of idiots on both sides, but because they're stupid doesn't mean that the side they've chosen is necessarily flawed because of their stupidity.

That's a big part of why it's so well paid. Supply and demand. No one wants to be a garbage collector because it's not a fun job. Therefore, demand is higher and supply is lower, so they have to offer higher salaries for the job to get done.

Right, because we should totally have a lower minimum wage, giving people incentive to live off of welfare as a leech to society instead of actually working. **** you, people like you are the reason we have so many god damn leeches ruining the economy of this country and dragging it further into debt by not providing anything for all they take.
User avatar #61 to #60 - byposted (09/25/2013) [-]
We have so many leechers because the current administration enables it. Look at how much social-spending has expanded under Obama.

Raising the minimum wage cannot be considered an alternative to government subsidy.
User avatar #169 to #61 - breadbasket (09/26/2013) [-]
You say that like the president has any say about what goes on in this country.

Obama has nothing to do with it.

In politics, there are no liberals, repulbicans, democrats, or whatever.

That only exists within the population, and the sooner we figure out that the government is all on the same agenda, the sooner we can rise up against it, and actually make a ******* change in this country for once.
User avatar #62 to #61 - heartlessrobot (09/25/2013) [-]
Raise the minimum wage, lower welfare. Adjust it so people can live off of minimum wage, but can barely get by on welfare. People that need welfare will be happy they can still live off of it, and people that abuse the system will find it no longer works in their favor.
User avatar #69 to #62 - byposted (09/26/2013) [-]
Do you realize what you would be doing by increasing the minimum wage to twenty dollars? It is the most short-sighted method you can take in regards to the economy. To say that the value of the lowest strata of labor (mopping floors, flipping burgers) is worth twenty dollars a hour will devalue the currency accordingly and will effect how eager employers are to hire.

>people that need welfare will be happy they can still live off of it
In reality, they would not have jobs and would need even more subsidy from the government to support themselves.

User avatar #73 to #69 - heartlessrobot (09/26/2013) [-]
I didn't say raise it that much, I said adjust minimum wage and welfare so minimum wage provides more income. And leave it so that they can live off of it and give no more.
User avatar #76 to #73 - byposted (09/26/2013) [-]
Your first post pushed the idea of the minimum wage becoming twenty-one dollars. Now you are suggesting some magical formula be created so that welfare leechers can live on their own.

What, in your opinion, is a liveable wage between the current federal minimum wage ($7.25/h) and the wage you now consider "too high" ($21.00/h).
User avatar #79 to #76 - heartlessrobot (09/26/2013) [-]
Look, I said that's what it would be if it were raised proportionally, not what would be best.
I'd say 10-11 bucks and hour should be plenty. I haven't done the math on price/income/work hours recently, but last time I worked up the math for this in a class, I got somewhere between 10 and 11 dollars.
User avatar #85 to #79 - byposted (09/26/2013) [-]
And did this mathematical estimate you came up with take into account a proportionate increase of living standards so as to measure the "ideal minimum income?"

California has just passed a bill which would raise their minimum wage to $10.00/h by 2016. They already have hell-high living costs there and this will only push it further. I don't know any credible economist who claims that this will fix the welfare issue. None say anything like it!

Currency's worth is not just some abstract number that can magically be raised by the government or the currency manipulators in the FED. All people who are concerned about welfare leeches acknowledge that raising the minimum wage will not fix the issue. What you would effectively do by raising the minimum wage any amount is making some people in the lower strata of society richer, while the rest in this class get poorer.
User avatar #87 to #85 - heartlessrobot (09/26/2013) [-]
Very well, if you think you can deduce a way to fix our economical system, how about you ******* run for president? Oh wait, we're royally ****** every which-way, and all I can hope for is that I die before **** gets so bad I can't even afford a ******* cemetery plot!
User avatar #90 to #87 - byposted (09/26/2013) [-]
I'm not even that knowledgeable in economics myself. I plan to educate myself accordingly in these coming years but you are outright contradicting yourself by wanting the welfare problem to be solved and wanting the minimum wage to be raised. This is basic theory we're speaking of.

Consider that liberals want a higher minimum wage while also being in a romance with the welfare state. Under Obama, welfare has been given out like hotcakes to these very leeches you speak of.

Conservatives want a self-operating economy with minimal social-spending and intervention. As such, they realize that raising the minimum wage is not good for business or the status of poorer workers.

Consider the following. Men do in fact make a great deal more than woman and in some workplaces the difference is quite astounding. Now consider the reasons for this before screaming sexism or the like. On average over 80% of dangerous jobs which pay much higher wages than secretary positions etc. are staffed by men. Where those secretarial jobs tend to be staffed by a much higher number of woman than men.

I think the most upsetting part of the whole "male privilege" concept is that the principals are so dated.

I'm years past, I'm sure plenty of over-qualified women were passed over for high ranking positions just because of the configuration of their genitalia. But with how quick you can find yourself at the wrong end of a court case over discrimination nowadays, it rarely happens.

The fact of the matter is that there are more men CEOs than women because men are aggressive. They're confrontational. They're less likely to play "mind games" and be passive aggressive to one another. It's not always the case. There are women like that as well. It's just more of a rarity.

It really boils down to this. If you own a vagina and want to be a CEO, work for it. Don't complain that you don't have it.

Feminism is less of a political ideology than a minority sexual orientation at this point. They parade themselves around yelling about "rights" but cannot seem to explain what they're lacking.

It can't be much different, to be honest with you. Your Socialist President only got elected because of the female vote, much like ours.

it's not at all in relation with the usual rape/better than men/topics usually seen here at least, and holland's decisive vote was more towards the lower class vote (not to mention much more than half of the country wanted sarkozy out). No use making assumptions like 'it can't be much different' since i'm here to tell you

I've spoken with people from France who have talked about the female vote pushing the balance, along with that of ethnic minorities. Certainly, it seems as if Hollande is the champion of "empowered wymyn" given his rhetoric on sexism, much reminiscent of our President.

Digressing on my heresay, feminism in the US is severely outdated. Women have "freed" themselves from men, so they say, but have only left a broken system of marriage and sex relations.

sure, but american feminism (judging from what i see on the internet) is not the same as here, it's much less agressive and absolute and last i've heard of it participated with some syndicates for equal pay but not much else.

Perhaps it is so. Ivory is thumbing down all my comments again even though we seem to be having a respectable discussion, so I'll leave it here. He probably was the anon who was threatening me on my profile months ago.

As long as the Feminists are not as radicalized as in America, there influence would seem at the least tolerable. Did the French feminists rally with FEMEN when they came to celebrate the Pope's abdication?
