Just curious, but for the Kendrick Lamar fans, why do you like him? I'm trying to give him a chance, and I'm someone who goes more for deep lyrics, so would he be someone I'd like? Maybe what songs should I listen to by him?
User avatar #354 to #106 - Pikachuuu (09/26/2013) [-]
Section.80 or a mixtape "King of New York" (compilation of good songs, not actually promoted by him)
#117 to #106 - crosskill ONLINE (09/25/2013) [-]
Also, what do you classify as "deep"?
User avatar #120 to #117 - OsamaBinLadenz (09/25/2013) [-]
Usually emotional, as in something I can relate to, but it could also mean something that's not ignorant, like it actually has a good message.

Then DEFINITELY Kendrick. But just for the sake of it, mention some of the rappers you listen

I've always been big on Eminem, I can relate to his **** and his music is out there for a meaning, not just to get him money.

I also like Hopsin, mainly for songs like Sexy Cyber, Nocturnal Rainbows, and the Ill Mind songs.

SwizZz, who's in Funk Volume with Hopsin, because he's sort of an intellectual, and his songs can get you pumped but also make you think.

The Palmer Squares (Really underground from Chicago) and I like them for the same reasons I like SwizZz. They make me think, but also get me pumped.

Tupac, because he touched on issues from around where he was, and some of his songs promoted peace.

In short, music I can relate to emotionally and/or morally and music that touches on issues that make a person really think about life and think about the world is what I like. I'm more of a metalhead; I appreciate almost every genre of metal, from classic to metalcore, and it's easier to find music like that in metal, but metal can get boring, and I can't just sit down and listen to one rapper or Hip-Hop artist all day.

that's such a coincidence I've always been listening to the Palmer Squares

Yeah, I live in Toledo, so I hadn't heard of the Palmer Squares until my friend told me to look them up. He's into really underground rap, and they're really ******* good.

Once you've listened to some Kendrick Lamar, hit me back and let me know what you think of his body of work, Mr. BinLadenz. I'd like to hear your opinion.
User avatar #349 to #133 - OsamaBinLadenz (09/25/2013) [-]
So I decided to look up some Kendrick Lamar, and I've gotta say I'm really impressed. I had to listen a few more times to see if there's something I haven't caught in the songs. He definitely seems to know what he's talking about, and could actually be a role model, unlike other ignorant artists. Thanks again, man. I'm gonna have to start getting some of his music.

Once again, glad I could help.

User avatar #134 to #133 - OsamaBinLadenz (09/25/2013) [-]
Thanks for the help, man. I'll have to give it a listen to tomorrow, since it's getting late over here, but so far I like his style; he's a little different, but it's not in a bad way.
#136 to #134 - crosskill ONLINE (09/25/2013) [-]
Over there? And no problem, always happy to help.

Yep, 12:15 AM here in Ohio. I gotta hit my bed pretty soon haha.

Oh, yeah, I can imagine. Being a terrorist and all you must be pretty busy.
User avatar #144 to #142 - OsamaBinLadenz (09/25/2013) [-]
Yeah, it's a pretty demanding job. Especially when the rest of the world thinks you're dead.

Kendrick is my favorite rapper out there right now.
He always has something interesting to say, his lyricism is very technical. And yes he is deep. You don't just get some bragging about money, pussy and possessions.

I'd recommend you take a full album listen instead. Download his "Section. 80" debut album or his latest album "Good Kid Mad City".
Both are amazing listens.

But, if I had to recommend a single song I'd say the song "His pain" performed by BJ the Chicago kid and Kendrick Lamar. It's a very emotional song too, you can almost hear Kendrick crying.

Go do all of that right now, lol.

I mostly like it for the beat, but nobody's gotta have the same opinion as me.

It's very catchy, I guess I've just heard it too much

I've never heard it outside of my phone so I haven't gotten tired of it yet. But then again I don't go to parties or anything so I haven't had the opportunity to become sick of it.
User avatar #58 to #57 - trojanmannn (09/25/2013) [-]
that's depressing

Well I transferred into a private school last year so I've found a group but nobody bothers to ask me to do anything with them. It may be because I'm the only senior in my class that takes the bus, but I'm not entirely sure. It's actually depressing when I really think about it.
User avatar #63 to #59 - trojanmannn (09/25/2013) [-]
It's alright buddy, I go to a prep-school in connecticut where everyone is a preppy asshole. I know almost everyone and almost all of them suck. Private Schools are the same as public schools, the kids just have more money. Maybe have your group over one night and drink and invite some girls, then they'll see you're legit

As if my parents ever leave the house for a night. I'm not even allowed more than 3 people over. Can't wait for college, honestly. Even better yet I've asked 12 girls to homecoming and not one of them said yes. I honestly doubt any females will even want to come near my house.
