Like my PC.. . Boys never actually grow up. Their toys just get bigger and more expensive.. And girls never grow up. They just start dressing and putting make-up on themselves instead of using barbies.

why bother with the chevy?
#52 to #49 - psychopsychedelic (09/25/2013) [-]
The chevy doesn't look as good in person as it does in pictures if you were implying it looks good as is, I also plan on doing alot more to it.

If that's not what you were implying, then it was my first car, has a bit of sentimental value, and also only has 75k miles on it. Hardly any miles for a 14 year old car.

I plan on making them both a bit more practical, but setting the Chevy up to be better for long road trips.

I don't think that's what he was implying. With that said, I think it looks awesome.

I dig the truck, I believe it's a Nissan pickup. But why in the world would you try and restore a Cavalier?
#148 to #103 - psychopsychedelic (09/25/2013) [-]
Yep that's a Nissan Hardbody pickup.

That's not a Cavalier though, it's a Lumina. It's pretty fast for a Lumina, but I also need a daily driver because I'm not sure how long that truck is gonna last. I'm trying to get the Lumina to get as much gas mileage as I can, and I'm gonna do a little bit of crazy **** to it, so we'll see how that goes. I love working on cars, and if I have one, it's going to be fixed until it can't be fixed anymore.

I should be on hoarders. You should see my guitar collection.
User avatar #149 to #148 - psychopsychedelic (09/25/2013) [-]
But also I guess I should delve a bit into the sentimental value of this car.

My grandma bought it from the factory my grandpa worked at back in '99. When she died my freshmen year of High school, my dad and I drove up to Michigan (where it was assembled) to get it, and we drove it back. When we got it, it was white, paint was missing and it was starting to rust pretty badly. My dad drove it for a few years and when I turned 16 he gave it to me. I drove it as is until I was in college and then took it and spray painted it black to cover the paint chipped areas. This past summer, I gave up on the black and sanded the entire thing down to the metal, and painted it this bright blue with a roller in my driveway.

Now I intend on making it one of the nicest Luminas ever to be on the road. Why?
I don't really know.

well yeah, of course, but to someone just starting out, for example, it'd be easier for them to fix a bike chain rather than reconstruct a motor. Know what I mean?
User avatar #43 to #40 - rangerofthesea (09/25/2013) [-]
well, if you have the haynes manual its as simple and remove and replace...just a process...its more difficult yeah...but its just the amount of metal surrounding it more than its hard to take apart

taken an engine apart to replace the gaskets and put it back together...i had a single 2 inch bolt left over...needless to say i was frustrated...cus i had to take it apart till i found where it went...lol

User avatar #7 to #6 - instakill (09/25/2013) [-]
do you leave your computer open like that all the time?
User avatar #9 to #7 - thegamerslife (09/25/2013) [-]
Not always since I have no where safe to sit the side panel, but it would make little difference to the airflow overall if I did or not. just depends on how I feel that day.
User avatar #10 to #9 - instakill (09/25/2013) [-]
well talking form the position of a 4 year computer technician that you would experience much better airflow if you left the panel on, that leaves a better area for the fans to create a vacuum effect and draw air over the heatsinks, thus allowing your computer to cool easier, even with the fans on your heatsink
User avatar #11 to #10 - thegamerslife (09/25/2013) [-]
more than 60% of my side panel is open, it really won't make much difference. I've ran stress tests both ways and see no improvements over my already astonishingly low temps.

media.bestofmicro.com/4/6/315078/original/rosewill_thor-v2_finished.jpg
The side fan has been removed since both inward and outward uses of it raised my temps under load by a min of 5c in it's current configuration.
User avatar #12 to #11 - instakill (09/25/2013) [-]
ah, I see, i mainly work with mostly closed units and have only seen one side like that so far, personally I have a large intake fan on the front of my case and a couple smaller fans on the back and side, I measured the airflow and I could easily take out the fan in the front of my case, however I dont want to remove my fan because it is what provides my case with the blue lights
User avatar #13 to #12 - thegamerslife (09/25/2013) [-]
I don't care for aesthetics like lights, but I do plan to get some 120 AF or 140 AF's for the front, rear and top for even better airflow later on, and some 120SP's for the heatsink (although I don't think I need those ones as much)
User avatar #15 to #13 - instakill (09/25/2013) [-]
they look really nice if you have an open theme for your case, when I built my friends computer for him I made sure he got a windowed case because he wanted to line his with some generic LED strips that we wired into molex connectors, what I really want to do is i saw someone had a computer built into a desk drawer that would be awesome as a workstation
User avatar #17 to #15 - thegamerslife (09/25/2013) [-]
Might be a bitch to put together though and manage airflow and dust build up. lol
User avatar #20 to #19 - thegamerslife (09/25/2013) [-]
for a work station with minimal loads I guess it would be alright. but for heavy rendering or gaming I think this would be a bad idea. lol
User avatar #23 to #20 - instakill (09/25/2013) [-]
as I said, workstation, but I do plan to wire my house with a network where I can bring my tablet through each room and my music follows me

that would be pretty dope. just have it on your phone and freak people out with creepy ghost sounds that follow you. LMAO!
User avatar #28 to #24 - instakill (09/25/2013) [-]
hell yeah man, see what I was thinking is running USB bluetooth or shortrange wifi recievers throughout the house, and depending upon which one it has the best signal to, it will play in that room
User avatar #30 to #28 - thegamerslife (09/25/2013) [-]
