Actually. No that snake is not poisonous. No snake on this planet is Poisonous, unless you plan on eating them.

That snake is venomous. And of course it's venomous it's from Australia.

The japanese grass snake is in fact the only poisonous snake in the world. By that definition, too. The more you know .jpg

I don't think anyone knows for sure if it's poisonous or not, because I don't know many people who have made a hobby out of eating or snorting them...

--- There is no such thing as a "poisonous" snake - poison must be ingested or inhaled. Many snakes are venomous though - venom can be injected.

The best method to determine if it is or not, is to check the scales underneath the tip of the tail (the trick with the pupils is inaccurate depending on your location).

If the scales are all crisscrossy, it's non-venomous. If they're straight across like a ladder, it's venomous and you'll probably be dead soon because you just fondled the tail of a venomous snake.

Yeah, because we're all going to risk getting bitten just to pick up the snake and look at it's asshole for the scale pattern.

And? Some of the cutest things I've seen have been vicious animals.

Tarantulas, badgers, and tasmanian devils to name some.
I have a soft spot for snakes anyways.

Tarantulas are not cute. Badgers and Tasmanian Devils have the furry little creature quality, and snakes can even have a cute demeanor, but tarantulas/spider in general aren't cute.

It can be cool to have around. But let's not kid ourselves.

The Red-bellied Black Snake (Pseudechis porphyriacus) is a species of elapid snake native to eastern Australia. Though its venom is capable of causing significant morbidity, a bite from it is not generally fatal and less venomous than other deadly Australian snakes
So I don't want to go to Austrailia anytime soon...

********. the worst a RBBS can give you is severe abdominal pain, nausea and localized pain. No symptoms for at least half an hour beforehand. You probably wouldn't even notice you'd been bitten. I have three. Curly, bitie and ginger.
