I saw a heap of posts on twitter about it, Then went back to looking at RC's. If it comes to PC, Great, If it doesn't, Then I have the other half of my steam list, plus FC3 and a couple of Mount and Blade's to play, Doesn't worry me

#38 to #37 - thewisedane (09/18/2013) [-]
Weee!

A girl gamer looks like a girl, like a boy gamer looks like a normal boy. Simple stuff.

Someone walking home from the release of GTA V in my town was stabbed and robbed of his game.
#49 to #41 - cthumoo (09/18/2013) [-]
My dad is convinced the game's already having an influence on people
as in before they've even played it
User avatar #73 to #41 - subtard (09/18/2013) [-]
It's more realistic than I thought

Glasgow?
User avatar #45 to #43 - thatscottishguy (09/18/2013) [-]
London, he got a brick chucked at him then was stabbed and got his watch, phone and GTA copy stolen, he is recovering in hospital so the BBC says.
User avatar #46 to #45 - TheHutchie (09/18/2013) [-]
Damn. Apparently a guy got stabbed and robbed of it in Glasgow too.
User avatar #48 to #46 - thatscottishguy (09/18/2013) [-]
Wouldn't Surprise me.
User avatar #84 to #48 - ninjask (09/18/2013) [-]
Someone was stabbed in Blyth too. Then again, it doesn't take much to get stabbed here.

I went to the release of Battlefield 3 last year, it was pretty much nothing like this. There were tons of people, but they were all really nice and super chill. As soon as they opened the doors, every person in line started chanting " **** Call of Duty!". It was pretty ******* glorious.

My little brother was 'guy who came at exactly midnight' for GTA V (which was two nights ago for us). I told him he'd have to get there 3-4 hours early if he wanted a copy, he told me not to be an idiot because it was a MIDNIGHT release and girls didn't play GTA anyway (even though I beat all the missions for him on all our older copies while he hooned and ****** prostitutes). He came home at 1PM upset that the line was so big.

Dorkly has forseen my future.
I shall be such an ancient wizard that my magical brethren shall consider me their nominal leader.
My neckbeard shall grow long and white with age, my fedora will be faded, my mullet ragged and my armpits putrid, but my love for My Little Pony will never die, my virginity will never die, and for that I shall be revered above all other wizards in the land.

There was this kid at my GTA5 midnight launch who looked 7, I **** you not. Then he lit up a cigarette and I was confused. Turned out he was 18. Best part was that he was an extremely animated stereotypical black kid, (who isn't?) It was hilarious.

i'd never go to a midnight release, i'm not that pathetically obsessed with games. the only thing i'd ever consider going to the midnight release for is a film, and that's probably never going to happen either.
User avatar #76 to #74 - ithyphallophobia **User deleted account** (09/18/2013) [-]
it's not pathetic, it can be fun sometimes. Try it
User avatar #77 to #76 - FightClub (09/18/2013) [-]
i don't see what's so fun about waiting in line with a pack of hairy, bath-phobic neckbeards for hours to play a game
User avatar #78 to #77 - ithyphallophobia **User deleted account** (09/18/2013) [-]
Well, you should try not stereotyping or assuming. You might be surprised...
The diversity at the midnight release I went to was pretty spread out.
User avatar #79 to #78 - FightClub (09/18/2013) [-]
still pointless to play a game a day or two prior to getting it with full comfort and convenience during the day instead
User avatar #81 to #79 - ithyphallophobia **User deleted account** (09/18/2013) [-]
Well I stay up til 3-ish every night anyway, it really wasn't a problem. They gave away posters and cardboard cut-outs and stuff too, it wasn't miserable. I've even heard of larger game releases giving out food and drinks.
Just saying you should try it before you get all judgmental.
User avatar #83 to #81 - FightClub (09/18/2013) [-]
never

I remember going to the midnight release of Smash Bros. Brawl and there were people literally crying in line. Now I play videogames probably more than I should, but to me that's a bit ridiculous. Years later, something similar happened at the Skyrim release, only this time I had my female roommate with me. She wanted to go because she wanted to "see our culture". She then proceeded to whine the whole time.

TL;DR People frustrate me at times

I went to the GTA 5 release also and the dude that was #1 on the ticket had been there since 6pm. Word got around so everyone was laughing at how early the dude came because the 2nd person came at around 9.

also i was one of those people that came exactly at midnight

My local gamestop was pretty busy they had over 400 people and a dj booth set up, plus a ton of free giveaways from a local restaurant. It was pretty fun and the game is sick.

****** picture quality sorry

I can't help escaping the feeling that this guy who those this artwork hates geeks or what geeks do. Everytime I see his stuff it makes me feel like crap. Because he always goes of and brings down the things that I'm excited for. I've been to conventions and had a great time. But this guy seems to think that everyone there is an asshole or a weird ass twat with no live. I'm going to the midnight launch for the PS4 in my local area, I'm excited but this guys seems to thing that being hyped up and going to things like this is a waste of time and money. I'm starting to get a little pissed off about it.
User avatar #57 to #52 - Bidoof (09/18/2013) [-]
What I tend to notice, is why get excited about it?
Do you really want to wait in line for the midnight release? Or do you want to pre-order the game and go in when the store doesnt have a line going around the building. I went to one midnight release, and the line was literally full of neckbeards. I waited for 2 hours just to get in the store. It wasnt fun. It wasnt exciting. And then by the time Igot home I didnt even play it. I went to bed, due to over exhaustion
User avatar #63 to #57 - riddlerenigma (09/18/2013) [-]
You have never been to a theme park before have you?
#50 - nextnextnextnext (09/18/2013) [-]
I think the midnight releases are pointless and all they accomplish is to build up the hype.

"ooooh, our game is so ******* incredible that it's release is an actual event!". **** that. I kinda get it when it comes to midnight screenings of some anticipated movies, cause a movie is sth that's over in 2-2.5 hours and you're still quite capable of functioning. And after grabbing a midnight release of the game (which results in spending hours to just BUY something) you come home tired, probably not gaining much 'edge' over a guy who just sleeps the night, waits till the weekend / gets a day off and launches the game while being minty fresh.

TL;DR: midnight game releases are pretentious as **** and I hope CD-Projekt RED won't do this kind of **** when The Witcher 3 will be released.
