Heres what I don't understand.
Korras dad told them about his shame and korras all like "HOW DARE YOU NOT TELL ME ABOUT THIS!"

How and when exactly should he have told her about it?
Korra: Tell me a story daddy!
Korras dad: Sure, here's the tale of my greatest shame.

Korra is a ******* hypocrite. Does she tell everyone she knows how she got wrecked by Amon, and TWICE? No, I believe she says to Mako early in the episode "When I defeated Amon..." You lying bitch, you didn't beat him! He ran away because he was found out and no longer had anything to gain by fighting you. No but she's all like:
"Korra, I'm your father and I just want to make sure you're safe."
"GOD DAD **** YOU I'M GOING WITH THIS OMINOUS SUPER SPIRITUAL DUDE BECAUSE I'M A STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMAN AND I DON'T NEED NO MAN."
User avatar #70 to #37 - snowshark (09/14/2013) [-]
By which analysis we confirm that Korra is in fact a teenage girl.
User avatar #73 to #37 - helenwheels (09/14/2013) [-]
Korra has the right to be upset about being corralled in one area her whole life. She should have traveled the world like all avatars.
Non the less she didn't have to be such a cunt.

Tell that to the Air Nomads.
All five of them.
User avatar #79 to #68 - rhiaanor (09/14/2013) [-]
well they arent alive to be bitter now are they?
User avatar #71 to #68 - snowshark (09/14/2013) [-]
Uhm, technically the Air Acolytes represent the Air nomads the same way as non-benders from the water tribe represent the water tribe as well. So technically there are a LOT of air nomads.
User avatar #107 to #71 - wittypotato (09/14/2013) [-]
Actually, even if you do count the Air Acolytes, the Air Nomads still suffered more because they lost almost lives and, try as they might, they wouldn't be able to fully replicate their culture ever again.
User avatar #108 to #107 - snowshark (09/14/2013) [-]
They got screwed over, I'm just pointing out there's more than five air-nomads is all.
User avatar #109 to #108 - wittypotato (09/14/2013) [-]
Eh, I consider them Air Acolytes rather than Air Nomads but I guess it all comes down to semantics.
User avatar #113 to #109 - snowshark (09/15/2013) [-]
Well that is sort of like saying Sokka's not from the water tribe because he couldn't waterbend. The acolytes follow the way of life and teachings of the nomads hence they're nomads.
User avatar #132 to #113 - wittypotato (09/15/2013) [-]
Yes but his group of people were born into that culture. The Air Acolytes were originally Earth Kingdom people, thus, they didn't have quite the same history as the Air Nomads. Since every Air Nomad was a airbender they incorporated airbending into their daily lives. The Air Acolytes can't so, I'm referring to them as two separate things.
User avatar #140 to #132 - snowshark (09/15/2013) [-]
Again I feel that is an unfair way to treat them. About 100 years have passed since Aang first found the Air Acolytes meaning that the younger acolytes were possibly born into that culture and lived there their whole lives, respecting the same teachings as the Nomads even if they can not air-bend which seems to suit the idea of wisdom and monkshood more than the requirement of air-bending.

Also, if an Air nomad born before the war couldn't air-bend, would they not be a nomad or would they be classified as something different because they couldn't bend?
User avatar #142 to #140 - wittypotato (09/15/2013) [-]
But the Air Nomads are at most 70 years old so they can't have been more than a generation or two into the culture.

Also all Air Nomads were benders by default
User avatar #143 to #142 - snowshark (09/15/2013) [-]
So? A generation or two of deep study into the culture and devout belief in the teachings still makes them air nomads. It is like saying a man who was born in the USA who was a criminal and decided to repent and go live as a buddhist monk for the rest of his life isn't a buddhist monk.

And whilst we have yet to see any solid evidence that states there may have been an air nomad who couldn't air-bend that is not to say that there has never been one nor that air bending is required to be an air nomad because we've seen no solid evidence to support that claim either. Just because we have only seen air-bending nomads doesn't mean there has never existed one.

Air nomads are a theocracy structured around monkshood. So long as people take part in that monkshood they are a part of the air nomads. An air nomad and an air bender are different concepts and correlation does not indicate causation.

There's really a lot less fanfare than I thought there would be. Season 1 was insane with the number of bendingtime posts. Now there's like 5 of them in total. Not that I think anyone should be cramming fandom down anyone else's throat, but it's odd that it went from sixty to zero just like that. I'm assuming it's because a lot of people just bandwagoning and have no idea the new episodes are even out until they see a post about it.

#117 to #111 - anon (09/15/2013) [-]
I feel that Nick undersold the premiere of Korra a lot. They expected the internet ads (facebook pages and tumblr) to be enough and that their fans will just keep up with Korra through those. Sure the internet is how i found out about season 2's airdate, but i think Korra really deserved more tv ads. Especially since it's probably Nick's powerhouse when it comes to ratings.

More unnecessary ranting that you don't have to read:
Most of Nicks programming really sucks these days. I only watch fairly odd parents and spongebob for nostalgia's sake and sam and cat just to waste time. The rest of their shows really lack appeal. I really think they dropped the ball for Korra, but hopefully they get their **** together.
User avatar #13 to #7 - bumbojumbo (09/14/2013) [-]
Well, you don't understand the season has only begun today. We need some content and context from the series to use it in the comics I personally think the faceswap with korra, mako and his brother was hilarious, regardless if someone watched the series or not

shes gonna end up learing some **** from him and then kicking his ass after a long ass time and you are gonna find out later that he is the real reason her father got banished from the northern water tribe it had nothing to do with him attacking the bandits in the forest he just used that as an excuse to avoid the blame being placed on himself and blah blah blah i dont care if what i say is right i love the avatar shows and im gonna continue watching them but if im wrong then that would make it that much more interesting
User avatar #63 to #10 - draagz (09/14/2013) [-]
i feel like their going to make him be suspicious and mysterious and get to a point where we think hes the main bad guy or whatever but then he'll save her and the real bad guy will show himself. Id rather it be like TLA where there isnt just 1 bad guy for each season though and they have a ending point they have to gear up towards through a couple seasons
#145 to #63 - CHODYTHEBLAKGUY (09/16/2013) [-]
i agree with you to a point. see i imagine theres gonna be some big bad guy thing they might introduce in this season thats like the main bad guy for the rest of the seasons but at the end of each season its like a big step towards the end fight with the final bad guy but they end up beating a bad guy at a certain price maybe. but i also have this very VERY big feeling that they will end up bringing back aman(i more than likely spelt the name wrong, sorry) and he will turn into a sort of good guy or rather a good guy temporarily to help them beat this big bad guy only to help himself for the future against kora maybe? the reason i say they will bring him back is because the avatar and friends still believe he may be out there they dont know what happened and when tarlok tried to kill them both for a second they showed aman looking back at him through the corner of his eye and seeing as how hes this all powerful waterbender on a boat surrounded by water the possibility that he survived using his waterbending is extremely high if he actually tried to escape. honestly i have so many ideas for what could happen in the future of avatar but all of my ideas could never happen or they could all be exactly what happens we can only watch and see how the creators took things with the show but i am hopeful it will turn out really wel
User avatar #29 - chezburgadominator (09/14/2013) [-]

And then her dad comes in. goes full Papa Wolf mode, and smashes his face in.

He used Korra to open the spirit portal, and is now going to initiate a military dictatorship over the Southern tribe in order to follow the "righteous" spiritual path.

I love how Korra missed the significance of her departure from Tenzin. To her, it was a simple "I'm leaving you and getting a new master." But to Tenzin, it was saying good bye to his father once more.
#141 to #67 - RageGuyyourmom (09/15/2013) [-]
I almost lost it at that point, to Tenzin its pretty much his father rejecting him its not like shes actually learnt all he can teach her and after last season she should know that, the girls are better airbenders than Korra unless she goes avatar state so she obviously needs more training and she just throws him out I wouldn't be surprised if later in the series she goes back to tenzin and he doesn't accept her back right away.
User avatar #144 to #141 - FuckYouFatBen (09/16/2013) [-]
Exactly, Korra is so selfish, she didn't even realize it. And that's a shame, that little girls can out bend her in Airbending.

From the START I wasn't trusting this ***** . So dark and creepy and turning Korra away from her father; and what was up with Korra being such a bitch this first episode? There were times when Mako was acting like more of an avatar than she was. Some thoughts:

I think Amon really died last season, and Korra is gonna run into him in the spirit world or as a spirit.
They had better talk about Zuko's mother some more.
And just throwing this out there: with all the spirit tentacles tying Korra up and her getting knocked around by them, I'd be really surprised if Zone didn't make something Korra related.
