England definitely got us on this one. I mean we can't compare to their inventions of the Internet, telephone, automobile, airplane, steam engine, television ect.

The internet is an American invention. The web, however, was created by an Englishman and a Belgian.

You guys are hardly responsible for the phone, it was designed and mostly built in Canada by a Scot, it was tested and patented in the USA.

Telephone was invented by an Italian... in Italy... Alexander Graham Bell built it in Newfoundland, and patented in Boston. Mr. Bell took the credit. The automobile was invented by a German inventor Mr. Carl Benz. The (modern) Steam Engine was invented in Britain.

for the internet it depends what you mean exactly. America had DARPAnet but the Uk has Tim Berners Lee who created the first web server/ web page. For Berners lee is was to be an open network whereas the american one was a closed network.
