I'm all about getting swole, but this **** is just stupid. This guy looks like a joke.

<This is what a perfect man should look like... He's big and ******* shredded out of his mind. Also guess what? He is a natural body builder. So he will live into his 60's without his heart exploding.

bigorexia: aka muscle dismorphia is a disorder in which a person becomes obsessed with the idea that they are not muscular enough.

it's like anorexia for men.

I mean yeah, but not really. To build muscle and stay cut you have to workout like mad both lifting and cardio wise. Also you have to eat clean. Every meal must have a purpose and be able to be utilized by your body. People who think they need to dirty bulk and eat 6000 calories a day as just frankly ignorant. My point is that Anorexia makes your body lose all your nutrients and makes you weak. Where someone like this has to have all of his nutritional needs met and down to a science on top of being inhumanly active every day.

And if that's what makes him happy that's great. My point is that there are similarities. People with anorexia also obsess over counting calories and food and in inhibits their ability to enjoy life. Not saying everyone who body builds is like this, but I'm sure a fair few are.

Personally I think obsessing over food and going to a gym to get exercise it sounds like a waste of time when you could just enjoy your meal and go outside and shoot hoops with friends instead... My grandparents have all lived to be in their 90s and live healthy and fulfilling lives without having their nutritional needs down to an exact science.

I think I said it somewhere below in the comments but guys at that level would not be there if they only cared about their appearance. Body building becomes a hobby you fall in love with, just like playing video games or learning an instrument. It provides you with confidence with the realization that every day you are getting stronger and improving. It may sounds stupid but it makes you feel proud knowing on top off everything else you do in your life, every day you are outworking 90% of the people around you. I can work a double shift from my two jobs, finish my hw for class the next day, and not even consider skipping going to the gym for 2 hours.

I also mentioned that it doesn't apply to all bodybuilders. If it makes you happy that's great it's good to have a hobby you're passionate about. It's just not for me. But it does make sense when you say it like that... I do improv belly dance so when I practice and perform with my friends, it's art. When you work out, you're making art out of your body. I guess I didn't think about it that way before.

oh, don't get me wrong, there are men who struggle with anorexia I'm not denying that. There are also women with muscle dismorphia. But it's more common for women to struggle with eating disorders and more common for men to have muscle dismorphia.

frankly I don't care about aesthetics. That guy is yolked out of his mind and could lift a ******* house (plus he achieved it naturally). Also he isn't a lard ass power lifter that can't even wipe his own ass. I respect him because he is just all around at the peak of physical fitness. He could lift a ton, then go run a marathon. That takes dedication and will power
User avatar #60 to #46 - delphine (09/08/2013) [-]
I have an uncle who doesn't look like that, but he can lift bales of hay, pound fences into the ground, and a whole sort of backbreaking manual labor all day. A person don't have to look like a Rob Liefeld cartoon to be in top physical condition.
#63 to #60 - sloot (09/08/2013) [-]
That is old man strength.... No amount of lifting will get you as strong as working outside every day and earning your old man strength.

"This is what a perfect man should look like..."
"frankly I don't care about aesthetics"
Make up your mind.

that's respect. Maintaining size while remaining at nearly 0% body fat is very difficult. It takes a perfect diet and no days off in the gym. A lot of people look at bodies like this and get disgusted but you have to at least respect their work ethic. In today's world there are very few with that kind of dedication.
User avatar #45 to #41 - supermandan (09/08/2013) [-]
You do know that maintaining a body fat percentage lower than 5 percent is unhealthy, right?
#47 to #45 - sloot (09/08/2013) [-]
They don't.... they only cut for competitions. This picture im assuming was taken for a photo shoot or a body building competition. Frankly it would be impossible to stay that cut all year round

Any guy who starts lifting to try and impress girls won't last long at all. It becomes more about personal strength and getting better every single day. I have become addicted. My life now revolves around fitness and I always can't wait to get into the gym every day. I think of it as this... you only get one body in this one life. How much of a shame would it be to never get to see it at it's best?
User avatar #52 to #39 - trivdiego (09/08/2013) [-]
i dont think thats true how they wont last. i just think that once they reach the point they want to be at they stop trying to grow and it becomes more of a chore than anything else
User avatar #40 to #39 - iceangel (09/08/2013) [-]
If that is what you love go for it! Like you said, so many guys do it for the girls, and you are completely right. But at least these guys are actually working to better themselves (or as you said, the best they can be.
