Dude, that's pretty sad. I actually really feel bad for him

Fred and George are twins, and they were damn close too. They were more than brothers, they were the bestest of friends. A patronus is a spell that can protect you from evil, but it requires a happy memory to be able to cast it. With Fred dead, George can no longer think of a happy memory, I'm guessing if he tries, he will just remember Fred's death and be lost in misery. Thus he can't cast a patronus.

There are 7 books and 8 movies.

Books 1 and 2 were covered pretty much in full in their movies. Book 3 was mostly covered by the movie. Books 4, 5 and 6 though were cut up and pasted back together to form a nonsensical, short version of the books (The movies have several different directors). The 7th book's adaptation, to avoid all the people giving bad reviews on the past three movies, was split into two, two and a half hour movies to cover the entirety of the book (they left out only one scene IIRC and they changed one character's role, but that's it).

And book 7 wasn't even the longest one. The fifth was, and the movie of that was...well, honestly it was very bad.

That fact was ******* stupid, because it's just conjecture. Assuming that George can actually get over a death like a normal human being, is it not possible for him to fall in love and possibly get married and have children? I mean, don't get me wrong, losing someone is awful.

But having a loved one or child could quite easily trump that grief and cause someone to celebrate life again.

PS: For all of you people who keep repeating "ded gerge felly as ferk", yes it was rather sad. A comic relief character we had grown to become affectionate got killed off. But it's not like reminders of his death are few and far between on FJ, so please just shut the **** up about it every time he's mentioned/ It's hardly worth mentioning every time he is.

I was actually going to say something to this affect. I mean he has just opened his own joke shop (thanks to Harry) and he has a hopefully long life ahead of him. How will it be possible for him not to have another happy thought possible to make a patronis.

As a twin, when I got to Fred's death, I sobbed so damn hard I had to put the book down. I don't think people fully understand how much a twin means to another. I was born with my soul mate. To summarize a quote I heard, "People say 'You're born alone and die alone' but for twins this isn't true; you're born as a pair but die alone".

User avatar #222 to #219 - Furubatsu (09/08/2013) [-]
In the last book, it says the date Lily and James Potter died, (1981) we know that Harry was about 1 years old at the time so by doing the maths we can say that by 1991-92 (when he turned 11) is when the first book started, and so on and so forth.

The epilogue where he's seeing Albus Severus Potter off to Hogwarts supposedly is set in 2007

Old habits die hard my oddly named friend. In my days there were sites that auto censored swear words with a few *** no matter then length of the word. I had to work around that to make sense, thus the censor.

That's true of sea otters, but there are river otters - I believe Hermione's patronus is one of the latter.

I know snape's an awesome character and all, but as a person, he's a ******* asshole. he hates harry because of a choice his mom made and he hates neville, a kid whose parents don't recognize him, because of something that he had absolutely no control over?

awesome character, but kind of a asshole.
User avatar #76 to #37 - bbbegley (09/07/2013) [-]
No, but he never hated Harry. He resented him, but he loved Harry more than he loved himself because Lilly loved him, and that was all that was left of his love. Snape protected Harry more than a lot of other characters, and no one ever knew it until the end.
User avatar #113 to #37 - zarrowsmith (09/07/2013) [-]
Yes, Snape is an asshole. But I don't think he hated Harry. In fact, I'm pretty sure he loved Harry more than life, because he was all that was left of Lily. But Snape knew that after what happened that day by the lake, that he could never have her ever, no matter how he changed. But he would never stop loving her, so that's why he did all he could to protect her family, even betray the greatest dark wizard alive. And after all the **** he went through in life, and not being raised by decent people, it is understandable that he didn't exactly know how to be nice, but thanks to Lily, he knew how to love.

I've never read or watched the Harry Potter series.

What's a patronus and a horcrux?
User avatar #28 to #21 - emrakul (09/07/2013) [-]
Patronus is basically the ultimate protective spell, it takes the form of an animal made out of light and defends its caster against various monsters and psychological distress, and it can only be conjured with a happy memory.

A horcrux is the aftermath of a sorceror splitting his soul and putting a part of it into another object, with the result that the person creating it is immortal as long as the horcrux remains intact; the primary reason Voldemort is so difficult to deal with is that he has seven horcruxes, one of which (long story) is Harry Potter himself.
#27 to #21 - dreadrabbit (09/07/2013) [-]
The Patronus is like a ghost, summoned by a spell to repell dementors (Evil ************* , who will suck your soul and Happiness out). To cast the spell you have to remember a very happy moment of your life and the patronus looks like something you hold dear.

The Horcruxes are used by Lord Voldemort to be able to revive. Basically he puts a part of his soul into an Object and when he dies, he can live on with this part of his soul. So if you wanted to kill him, you'd have to destroy all horcruxes. Since Harry was one of the 6 or 7 (I don't know exactly anymore) horcruxes, he let himself get killed by Voldemort. Though he did survive, because ************
