Consider this: In the event that crystal meth would be legalized, the price would go down astronomically.    
   
Also, the reason why Gold is used rather than other, rarer elements is that it is almost entirely unreactive, thus being able to be preserved over time.

They should invest in helium and other noble gases then. They have a lot of uses in chemicals, electronics and pharmaceuticals and they are deemed to be the most unreactive.

Better yet - why not invest in honey ?

The legalization of a drug would not make its demand increase. The majority of the demand would come from existing users and even if a lot of people decided to start using meth because it became legal, the logistics of it being legalized would overall make it cheaper.
