gonna have to ask why you need broken straight sword
User avatar #242 to #89 - greycommotion (09/05/2013) [-]
The Greatsword of Artorias is the most powerful weapon in the game, bar none. However, you do need to have very high stats for the damage to speak for itself. Plus, it looks great!
User avatar #102 to #89 - vicsix (09/04/2013) [-]
A weapon that scales C in all areas. (greatsword of Artorias)
#114 to #102 - icyflesh (09/04/2013) [-]
Isn't it C/C/B/B
User avatar #115 to #114 - vicsix (09/04/2013) [-]
Yeah, sorry I was thinking of the cursed (black) version.
User avatar #92 to #89 - demonatatoo (09/04/2013) [-]
For the lulz of course! What's funnier than trying to kill a crystal giant using a broken sword?
#153 to #68 - ripgeckosncherios (09/05/2013) [-]
yes! never attack the NPC, I attacked the merchant near the begining and now she won't sell me stuff D:
that makes the capra demon immensley difficult even if you follow 20
User avatar #175 to #68 - thenukecity (09/05/2013) [-]
I killed the first merchant to get his sword.

Terrible ******* decision. **** that sword.
User avatar #282 to #175 - vorigito (09/05/2013) [-]
Do you mean the uchigatana? If so that is one of the best dexterity weapons in the game. I prefer the great scythe though because of long range attacks.
User avatar #306 to #282 - thenukecity (09/05/2013) [-]
I really prefer heavy hitters. I use the Claymore and Zweihander. When I got it I felt sever killers remorse because now I couldn't go back short of restarting the game and I just ended up with a weapon I wasn't going to use.

Going off 22:

Always kill the faggot known as lautrec, he's a faggot.
User avatar #237 to #134 - greycommotion (09/05/2013) [-]
True. But if you kill him early, you can't get his equipment later in the game.
#240 to #237 - ohemgeezus (09/05/2013) [-]
FAP ring is the only thing that matters, plus fighting all 3 of them is terrible, i barely managed to do it with a fire zweihander
User avatar #243 to #240 - greycommotion (09/05/2013) [-]
The fact that you can't block doesn't help.
#244 to #243 - ohemgeezus (09/05/2013) [-]
I always have my grass crest on my back so if either of them tried to attack I could just wipe it out, although the ******* sorcerer hits through my shield.

Lightning Claymore all the way. Great Chaos Fireballs are nice as well.

i got a lucky summon for this fight and thanks to him i had no problem but by myself i don't think i would've stood a chance
User avatar #256 to #1 - FairyGodParents (09/05/2013) [-]
I literally just beat them. I swear for the first 20 tries Ornstien was glitched out. Super aggressive and attacks would go through everything. So i rage quit, came back an hour later, and he was super passive the next tries and the pillars actually blocked his lightning and dashes. These bosses were so ***** .
#35 to #1 - pentol (09/04/2013) [-]
solaire actually does prepare you. he gives you a white soapstone, and explains summoning. also, you deal with a charging boar earlier, and those white electric gargoyle demons, who fight similar to ornstein.
i just wish there was some way to replay this fight alone, repeatedy. it is great fun.
#123 to #1 - warhamme (09/04/2013) [-]
For some reason the last boss was so difficult compared to these, it may be my style of play but i thought they were not so bad.
#133 to #123 - ohemgeezus (09/05/2013) [-]
Gwyn is actually pretty easy(although all bosses are easy if you just learn the tactics) you just need to learn to parry which can be learned on the silver knights in anor londo seeing how they have pretty slow swipes.
#369 to #133 - warhamme (09/05/2013) [-]
I would if i didn't use harvels shield, i know i should have changed it but i did beat him by abusing other things, i managed to get him so he could't hit me.

This is not entirely true, the master key is incredibly helpful.
My first item was twin humanities.
#27 to #5 - anon (09/04/2013) [-]
you can buy it for 2k the pendant is the best to pick.
#29 to #5 - rdobet (09/04/2013) [-]
Thing is, if you actually need this guide that much, you'll probably die quickly if you ever enter a place you need the master key to enter.

I mostly just got it to use havel for parry training.
#57 to #5 - anon (09/04/2013) [-]
You get that later on in the game, ******* .
User avatar #91 to #5 - bluenapalm (09/04/2013) [-]
you can just buy the master key from domhall if you really want it
#132 to #91 - ohemgeezus (09/05/2013) [-]
Except you cant get it from him until after he moves to firelink which he doesnt do until gaping is dead at which point it's of almost no use.
User avatar #205 to #132 - gigapower ONLINE (09/05/2013) [-]
Actually after Anor Londo he moves. You don't have to fight gaping.
#215 to #205 - ohemgeezus (09/05/2013) [-]
Turns out we were both wrong, he moves after both bells have been rung:
User avatar #323 to #215 - zorororonoa (09/05/2013) [-]
Yeah and by then it really is useless. The best use for it is to take the blighttown shortcut but after you ring both bells you don't need the damn shortcut.
#7 to #5 - sirfapaton (09/04/2013) [-]
Aye. And it used to be even more valuable since you couldn't buy it from NPC before but it was added in patch.

Also, in early interviews the game designer said that you should start the game with the pendant or nothing. So many players were wondering what's with the pendant and spent countless of hours playing the game and trying to hit every wall with it in inventory, dropping it in places.

Later in interview it was found out that the designer was just trolling.
User avatar #31 to #5 - thedasher (09/04/2013) [-]
The master key is a sequence breaking item, sure it's handy for those that know the ins and outs, but it might get newer players killed by havel one too many times

Even Hidetaka Miyazaki recommended that players kick off Dark Souls with a pendant or no gift at all.

If you run up that staircase on the left and then stand on the protruding contour of the gate at the far end of the room, the Capra demon can't get to you (He'll climb halfway up the stairs, try to lunge at you, and fall off the stairs and then do it over and over again, during that time you can focus on killing the dogs/rats)
User avatar #339 to #158 - confusedwolf (09/05/2013) [-]

it really depends on your class set up and what level you take him on at if you have the stamina to block him he is easy peasy but if its a brand new game and you dont have like any points in stam your going to get steamrolled

Basilisks are some of the easiest enemies in the game once you see how they attack. And their on;y attack being spitting out a cloud that is easily avoidable and does no damage. Seriously, if you stay in that cloud long enough to get cursed, than you deserved it.
User avatar #168 to #82 - funnyjunkianonetwo (09/05/2013) [-]
Black Knights are easy, just parry them, backstab if you can't parry.
User avatar #189 to #82 - mcdouchebag (09/05/2013) [-]
I ****** with the Hellkite Drake and ended up killing it. Plus, black knights are easier than you think. Only once you get the Drake Sword. Other than that, if you have golden pine resin, you should be fine for the most part and just keep dodging and back stab them.

My favorite tip would be what I told myself over and over while playing.

Souls are 100% replaceable.

Even if you lost 200k+ souls you can always make it back.

I know. I couldn't give a **** about souls I lose when I die. I get pissed when I have 30+ soft humies and can't get to my bloodstain. Those are the real pain to lose.

Artorias' expedition into the abyss with Sif and the legend of the 4 Knights of Gwynn are probably some of the best stories in recent memory, and the best part is they hardly ever bring it up in the game, you have to discover the whole thing for yourself through exploration.
