no, just no, wireless is **** in comparison, a wired never needs to change batteries, its faster and more sensitive

the speed and sensitivity feels exactly the same imo.
charging batteries also isn't that bad as long as you have an extra pair to use once the others run out & need charging.

I use a wireless mouse and it's both those things along with the convenience of being usable more than 1m away from the pc.

>6400 dpi
>no input lag thanks to low latency reciever and transmitter.
>battery is recharchable and I've never needed to change it as it has a 50 hour battery life and comes with a spare battery which i keep on charge on the occasion that it does need to be changed... also you can connect a wire as well, although i never use it.
#68 to #15 - anon (09/04/2013) [-]
Posting as anon because, well, you'll see.

But I'm an idiot when it comes to any sort of computer hardware, even basic **** like a goddamn mouse.
Why are wireless mouses bad? Not trying to argue, just curious.
(Isn't it something to do with a slight delay compared to wired?)
#72 to #68 - tomtomvdp (09/04/2013) [-]
It's just useless , and except for a few exceptions from razer , they are usually poorly made , and won't last much, they are overpriced. And some of them work on double A batteries , so all in all . There is nothing to justify their purchase , except for presentations , some cheaper models have a lot of input lag , etc.

Besides for the price of a ****** wireless mouse you can get a really good wired mouse , with different dpi , weights , additional buttons , and built from better materials . And drivers to configure the buttons , or even if you are a piece of **** , configure Macros.

At first i thought nothing of it, i got it for free so it would probably break fast.
A year later, batteries, which i got with it, still work, works very smoothly.

User avatar #108 to #105 - ihateallofyoualot **User deleted account** (09/04/2013) [-]
Wired Mice are superior in every way. Wireless mice are sometimes delayed, they're unreliable, and the batteries can die while you play. Those aren't all the reasons but I want to keep it somewhat short.
User avatar #113 to #108 - cardanbar (09/04/2013) [-]
okay thanks. just curious. im getting a pretty good PC for gaming this christmas and i just wanna know more about them.
User avatar #382 to #105 - thenez (09/04/2013) [-]
its very rare for a wireless mouse to be superior to a wired mouse, because there is a lot of encoding and decoding that is going on between the emitter and the receiver. for example, if a company wanted to make their mice more "affordable", they could choose to include more "inexpensive" (slower) encoding and decoding chips in the emitter and receiver. where a wired mouse will send straight usb signals. granted, the movement must still be encoded and decoded, there is a lot less of it going on, and therefore lower chance for cheap parts.

What's with the i5? The good models are great for gaming.
inb4 "i7 ftw". Many i7 are overkill when it comes to gaming. You most likely only need those if you do video and image conversion/edition.

I myself have an i5-2500k, not overclocked, and never had any kind of CPU lag even with high end games, and when I do I can still overclock it to a whoopin' 4.5 GHz

I have a 560 Ti and it handles Farcry 3 on High with pretty good fps, is there such a difference between the 550 and the 560?

Also, did your PSU ever give you any trouble? My PSU is going defective, and it's the second to do that this year, most likely because they were rather cheap ones. Anyway, are the Corsair PSUs reliable?

An i5 in a laptop generally means it's around 2.4ghz and really can't handle much. Not saying there aren't good i5's, but if you buy a laptop with an i5 it's probably more likely to be a 520. If you spend money on a laptop with a good i5, it's likely you overpayed for a "superior gaming laptop" advertisement. You can't really win.
#32 to #28 - pwnmissilereborn **User deleted account** (09/04/2013) [-]
Truth is that whenever you pay for a gaming laptop, you have overpaid, whether you got an i5 or an i7, because the quality/price ratio for them is always inferior to desktop components, not to mention that pretty much every laptop only has onboard GPUs.

That said, the problem is in it being a laptop, not in the i5 series as those are more than adequate for gaming PCs.

#256 to #18 - anon (09/04/2013) [-]
The only difference between i5 and i7 is hyperthreading which is used by practically no games. A lot of people with i7's disable hyperthreading when playing games because it's completely useless. The only games you will even see a benefit going from an i3>i5 are big multiplayer games where player positions are handled by the cpu.

tldr: Unless you're getting at least a 770m/7970m, an i7 is a waste of money.

No, the i5 is not bad, these retards just don't know what they are talking about.
There are different types of i5, just like there are different types of Nvidia GTX cards that's like saying a GTX 560 is as good as a GTX 780 just because of the prefix.

The i5 2500k will play any game of date provided you have a decent gpu, motherboard etc. The only real reason to get an i7 is for intense video editing/rendering.

< I'm sorry core i5 fans, I can't hear you over the sound over my overclocked 5GHZ FX8350

> 8 cores = better support for future apps, games, and DX11+
> Overclocks better than the i5 (and most benchmarks don't take into consideration overclocking for gaming FPS)
> $20+ cheaper than the i5 at most places right now (and the motherboards are much cheaper, 990FXA AM3+ motherboards running $110 right now)
> Comes with a very nice stock copper-pipe heatsink (if you don't want to upgrade in cooling)
> Broke the world record for overclocking at over 8Ghz, so it a very stable/reliable CPU and I can also speak from experience
> Comes in a ******* awesome tin box

Okay before I make a complete ass out of myself, most benchmarks are right, the i5 peaks a little higher in some games. All in all, the "per-core" performance on the i5 is slightly better. But like I said, most benches don't take into accordance the overclock capability and speeds. Also in my professional opinion (and I'm a professional programmer/developer myself), I think the FX8350 is slightly more future proof with the upped-core count.

Lastly, there is one BAD thing about the FX8350 you should be aware of (that nobody but me knows unless you own one). The FX8350 is said to support RAM speed of 1866Mhz. I bought a very expensive set of quad-channel (as in four modules) G Skill ARES ram at that speed and it was NOT stable at ALL with the FX8350. I had to downclock it to 1600Mhz. A bogus load of horse **** and slightly misleading, the FX8350 only supports two RAM modules at 1866Mhz and once you overclock it's an unstable nightmare. If you go with the FX, don't' buy RAM higher than 1600Mhz.

Also not to hate on mac, I have a three week old Macbook Air and loved it! I ordered with an Intel core i7. My last gaming laptop also housed an i7.

yeah well I have i5-3570 which will still give you more (or atleast same) FPS at games than heavily overclocked FX-8350 (congrats on the overclock tho, nice) and the biggest dufference I'm seeing here is the power consumption...

my i5 eats about 60-70W max when playing games
your FX propably eats around 200W (I build one computer for my friend with this processor, overclocked it to 4,5GHz and it sucked around 180-190W from PSU)

OH I hear you there - yes, this FX is very power hungry, I had to upgrade to the HX750 gold rated PSU as an average 600W thermal-take wasn't quiet getting the job done.

Since I built this thing, the electric company has sent me numerous letters with graphs how our home is using up more power than everyone else on my entire street. Honestly though they should shove it, the bill gets paid every month!

Which processor is superior depends entirely on what game your playing.

I was one of the unlucky ones who ended up buying a 3570k near the end of 1155's life.

That RAM problem really intrigues me, because I had built a computer for a friend that had an 8350 and 4 sticks of 1866mhz ram. It kept crashing during the installation of windows and was fine once I removed two sticks. I will try to fiddle with the RAM clocks to see if I can get it stable.

Thanks for that info, I highly appreciate it.

Totally agree , newer games are going to be developed for the next gen consoles , which have 8 cores. Im going to get an asus 990fx sabertooth revision 2.0 , and a 8350 . When i get my paycheck , my only dilema it's that i don't know how good the stock cooler is , i will get a Corsair h100i eventually.

Do you know how good the stock cooler is ?

Yeah... I love AMD, but that RAM issue is killing me because I have a 2x4gb set of Kingston HyperX Predator 2400 mhz and they will be unusued.
That makes me feel so really bad
And I have the option to buy i5 and a GA-Z77-D3H and seize all the ******* RAM, but my only concern was about the CPU...

Jesus, this is harder every time...

I spent $700 on my laptop and I got: i5 Quad Core with GTX 680 2GB graphics card and I can run anything I want Also if you wanna get super serious about gaming and enjoy MMORPG's. I recommend the Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse. Google it, it's awesome. My girlfriend bought me one for my birthday and I am enjoying it thoroughly.

TLDR: i5
