I'll probably get ************* but I use a Mac Air to browse internet. And it works fine, if you expect to play games with it then you should reconsider. And the ones that makes remarks on how bad Mac is are idiots. Because only idiots repeat the same well-known fact all the ******* time. Thank you.

I'm a graphic design student, we're using Macs at 80% of the entire school. I have my own now and they work great, overpriced you say? Definitely! Crap? No. Quite the opposite, it's great depending on what you want to do with it. HD video editing and rendering, the adobe software pack. Runs on it flawlessly and amazingly fast, I have never had any problems with it and to me it works great. For my multi-media and gaming I of course have a desktop computer completely customized to my liking. Why fight over who's best when you can have the best of both? (:

My view on mac is that they're good, but not nearly worth the money, it's like buying an electric car cause so you don't have to change the oil

My views on this:

Mac: Most stable platform. Built to run any visual or audio media, and to do it really well. You're paying for top of the line parts, and the operating system specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with those parts. Industry standard in all aspects of production, graphic design, audio mastering and hipsters.

PC: First off, I'm not discussing how awful windows 8 is. PC's lead the business and accounting world, as well as making up the majority of gaming world. Lots of models oout there, some good,a lot not. Custom built is always best. You Grandmother probably still has 2000 running by some miracle.

I agree.

Mac's have the audio capacity of a ******* cat meowing. Whenever my friends try to show me a video on a mac, I can't hear **** cause of the crap speakers. On the other hand, my PC can blow my skull wide open at any moment with it's speakers, but I usually use my external ones anyway. Mac's don't have top of the line parts or a better operating system. I ******* hate the operating system.

And don't **** on Windows 8 just because of what other people said. I didn't like it at first, but I got used to it and found out that's it's really cool. Apple overprices their ****** computers because sheep like you will actually buy them. Their only good product is the ipod/iphone series (and even that is overpriced, but i'll still buy it).

macs operating system peaked at version 10.5 ... which happened to be the same time vista was the newest windows ... (vita btw ... is like a really sad attempt to copy macs osx 10.4 )

linux still beats both parties though

You're wrong, you can get a hardware and software-superior PC for the same price as a Mac. You're not paying for top of the line parts at all, if you got the equivalent parts in a Windows PC it would be £300 - £400 cheaper. You're essentially being ripped off by Apple.

And I said this on another post earlier, some people have this delusional idea that if they buy a Mac they will be inspired to be more creative, which is a load of ******** they've probably been brainwashed into thinking. PCs are equally as good for creative production work, and god knows why studios opt in to have Macs as their primary platform because they're making a massive mistake. Why pay more for something that is no different than a PC? Both the operating systems (Windows 7 & OSX) are as user friendly as each other in every aspect. But why the **** do Apple have the audacity to charge people extortionate amounts of money for it? Just 'cause it's got an Apple badge on it? You've gotta be stupid to buy one really.

I built a Hackintosh thats equally sexy (aesthetically wise) and twice as powerful.
it was literaly £1,100 cheaper than an equivalent Mac.
#121 to #91 - hutty (09/04/2013) [-]
so note though that the adobe suit (photoshop n stuff ... which i hate btw) was originally a mac product ... thus getting all them adobe dependents on mac ... ... and anyone who isnt going to explore options other than photoshop ... isnt going to explore options pther than mac

I'm pretty Adobe Dependant, but I would love to start an OpenSource Creative suite using GIMP, InkScape, Krita, Scribus, MyPaint and FontForge. I just don't know how to start that project >.>

I'm a Linux fag, but in all honesty, anything is better than Windows. Windows is just **** .

OSx is actually a great software, one of the bests, and way more powerful and secure than Windows. I do hate Apple, but I hat its hardware (and iOS) Apple hardware and iOS are the biggest pieces of **** on this planet.

That's why I built myself a Hackintosh (A really strong one to) and for half the price.
CPU: Intel i7 Ivy-Bridge series.
RAM: 16gb
Graphics: Integrated (y'know intel 4000)
HDD: 130gb SSD/ 2TB HDD

Price: £800

Equivalent Mac(straight from Apple Store)=£1900

**** THAT **** . Hackintoshes are great, OSx is great. And I don't even like OSx that much, if I could do ALL of my work straight from Linux, then you bet your sweet tuccus I would.
#95 to #60 - anonymous (09/04/2013) [-]
Who's going to listen to somebody of touts a free operating system. The only things I can recall Linux has that Windows doesn't is that there is more support for HDD file systems, you can boot it from removable media and it's open source. That's it.

You're on the same level as Apple fanboys on their high horse IMO.
User avatar #98 to #95 - blacklegkenpo (09/04/2013) [-]
Linux has immaculate security. It's open source, meaning if you know what you're doing you can do ANYTHING with it.

Also it runs natively like XP used to, not like what Windows is moving towards (havign a SSO and running **** from the cloud, and constant DE checkups to see if you're not torrenting **** )

There's **** ton of spyware on windows and it's just poorly coded in comparison to Linux which is so immaculately micro-coded.

Pic related, it's the AIO Chassis I used.

Have you used windows 8?
User avatar #92 to #90 - blacklegkenpo (09/04/2013) [-]
Yes, I torrented it as soon as it was available. I liked the UI and had no problem with left/right scrolling like most people do, and I could find things pretty easily. What I didn't like was all the hoops I had to go through to open certain things. i.e if I opened chrome in the Desktop and then went and opened an app in the Metro UI I couldn't then access Chrome from the Metro UI, it would instead open a brand new chrome in the Metro UI. Which pissed me off.
There were alot of other things as well, like not being able to resize my applications to fit screen to my liking. I usually have a LiveDemo of an app running in one window and then my IDE in another, with the IDE taking up 30% of the screen and the app taking the other 70%, but I couldn't resize the goddamn windows to my liking within Metro. The only options was one window at 10% the other at 90%.

I just couldn't get a good workflow out of it. Plus its a resource hog. I prefer Linux any day...
