So I was on my way home from work yesterday and this old man had been playing an NDS on the bus. I was curious as to what he was playing, he told me that he was playing a pokemon game (pearl) he said that when his son was younger he asked him all the time to play the games with him but the man never had the time. Unfortunately his son had passed away in a car crash about a year later. the man started to play his sons pokemon blue game so that he could feel like he had a second chance with him. He told me that its taken him years to get through the other gens but i still makes him feel a bit closer to his son...just goes to show you guys, you're never too old to start something new and fun.

Damn near brought man tears to my eyes.

Just a fair question, how can we be sure this is legit and not just anoter (non)cancer-post?

Should we really be questioning whether this is actually real or not? Does it matter? I believe the better question would be, is it real to you? Does it evoke a reaction in you? Personally, I think believing everyone would find something like this moving - whether it actually happened or not - would be like saying fried cow dick is awesome, and thusly if you show it to people, everyone will think it's awesome too.

To each their own, bro. Find your feels, and hold onto them.

Perfect example:

Six years ago, my friend - let's call her Janie - was diagnosed with leukemia. She passed away a little over a year ago, and I had been trying to find a way to ease the passing for myself. After going through some of her things - yes, we were that close - I found an unassuming notebook full of different stories she had written. Some silly, some chocked-full of feels, and some just her personal thoughts built into a character or two. It was then that I realized that this was my chance to make sure that she lived on - for me, and for whoever would mourn her passing.

I took her stories and expanded on them, turning them into something that people find worth in, and something that they can relate She never wished for popularity...only for people to know and understand the things she did. Through me, I am helping her do that, and through her writing, I can maybe feel that she's still here with me.

Now, is that story true? Maybe. As a reader online, one can never know for sure. What matters is whether or not you felt something beyond cynicism because of it.

Find your feels, and hold onto them
Find your feels, and never let go

This world that we live in
May seem tough and hectic at times
But to understand and capture the feels
Is to understand and capture our lives

Find your feels, and hold onto them
Find your feels, and never let go

Exactly this. You're very good with your words.
To me when people say, "Oh my God this never happened why is everyone so sad?" I feel like they have no emotion in their lives at all.

It'd be like going to a movie where the main character dies 2 hours in and they just laugh or do nothing. Sure not all movies have to be emotionally moving when a character dies but every now and again it can seem tragic. And obviously the movies aren't real so....

I knew as soon as I read it that there would be dumbasses questioning the validity of the post. "Nuh uh, not my thumbs."

Its so ******* stupid, this seems to me like a heartfelt story. If it is all a fabrication then oh well, still a good story so keep the thumb.

Sweet story about Janie too, sorry for your loss.

People have been questioning the validity of posts like this since the guy who faked leukemia a couple days ago. It's one thing if you fake a story, but a completely different thing if you fake a terminal illness.
User avatar #360 to #103 - BigDru (09/02/2013) [-]
Very true. If someone fakes a terminal illness for thumbs on here, that's abusing people's feels, bro. At that point, I start praying to whatever god or greater power is listening that they get a terminal illness.

Well, while I tend towards being a troll, I also make it a point to properly educate people when it's needed, or open their eyes to something more philosophical. My comment #4 is a perfect example. So if people are going to make an assumption without any validating or invalidating proof, I make it a point to point out how ignorant such a stance is.

Also, for all the people that are probably quickly going to decide that this thread has become too deep:

Watermelon-munchin', Welfare check-gettin', bike-stealin' ******* .
