This is one of my favorite games and one of the main reasons I hate EA. Double Fine started making Brutal Legend 2 and EA cancelled it mid production. Double Fine nearly went bankrupt because months of work had gone to waste. They had to switch to making indie games because they couldn't afford large ones after that. EA also wouldn't let them make any story DLC and forced them to make only multiplayer maps that nobody wanted.
User avatar #55 to #27 - Brutalmetal (08/29/2013) [-]
Wrong, double fine canceled it because they broke down into smaller groups to make their indie games, ie costume quest and what ever htye;ve been releasing
User avatar #122 to #55 - travismackie (08/30/2013) [-]
The four games were made only because of BL2 getting cancelled. They had no funds after EA dropped them, so they had to make those 4 small games.
User avatar #60 to #55 - I Am Monkey (08/29/2013) [-]
“Getting the sequel canceled was not the reward we were hoping for. We had been working on that and thinking about that for a long time, that sequel. We didn't have anything else ready to go and we didn't have much money left in the bank. It was a moment where we almost ended the company.” -Tim Schafer

Here's the full interview.

Can't provide link but I read somewhere that double fine said they're either going to make a second psychonauts or brutal legend. They said they wouldn't mind doing either first, just brutal legend would cost more.
I read this as month or so ago so don't kill me please.
User avatar #70 to #57 - thewaronbeingcool (08/29/2013) [-]
They probably just said they'd like to make them eventually.

Their working on their kickstarted games at the moment, which are a point and click game and a fantasy X-COM.
User avatar #67 to #27 - sigcurtis (08/29/2013) [-]
Actually, I'd heard the its wasn't the second one, but the first game that EA made DoubleFine slice into pieces, because it was too big, and cancelled a sequel outright. My guess on that is because it wasn't enough like popular games, and didn't sell as well as them

And apparently, EA doesn't have that much control over DoubleFine anymore, so theres a chance of a sequel.
User avatar #68 to #67 - ivoryhammer (08/29/2013) [-]
Tim Schafer said he wants to to a sequel, same with Psychonauts, he just lacks the funds.
#35 to #27 - threenippledcousin (08/29/2013) [-]
Be honest, brutal legend was fun, but was kinda gimmicky.
User avatar #39 to #35 - I Am Monkey (08/29/2013) [-]
It wasn't a perfect game. He's right about the fact that it was too short and the RTS aspect was lacking, but most of Yahtzee's complaints about it are ******** . He complains about not knowing how to find motorforges, when they're giant, motor shaped and virtually everywhere. He complains that too many games are sandbox, yet ***** on every game that isn't for being "too linear". He complains about the fact that you have to seek out bonuses like special moves and songs, but criticizes other games for handing you everything and not having enough extras. I know it's his shtick to hate things, but I feel like he just has a quota of things he needs to complain about and just starts making things up if he doesn't meet it.

I used to like Zero Punctuation, but he's pretty awful at actually reviewing games. He says what he doesn't like about a game, but doesn't include anything else that an actual "review" should consist of. Brutal legend's strongest point is it's story. He literally makes no mention of it in the entire video. He does that a lot. Like in Mass Effects review he just says "The writing is good, but that doesn't count because Bioware is known for good writing" and just proceeds with the video like that's not the primary component of the entire series.
User avatar #43 to #39 - ilcecchino (08/29/2013) [-]
i think that's the point. i never watched his **** for legit reviews. i just think he's hilarious
User avatar #174 to #39 - fukkendragonite (08/30/2013) [-]
Never get Yahtzee confused with a real game reviewer. He moved away from that long ago to become funnier, and I like it.

If he says a game is good though... you better believe it's a good ass game

MFW FINALLY smashing Doviculus' last defences and I start the final boss fight with him...
...and ******* PAINKILLER starts playing as the boss fight track!
I swear I shouted as loud as I could when I heard that legendary drum intro, it's just such a nice reward for beating all those waves of Doviculus' forces.

P.S.: Say what you will, but in Skirmish I fear the Drowning Doom more than the Tainted Coil, their collection of negative buffs along with the HP of certain units (Frightwig, those things take forever to be put out, and if there are 3 of them, your avatar gets killed VERY fast) or the damage and speed of others (Reapers, Ratgut) makes them dangerous as **** .
