That was both brilliant and scary.

Anxiety for me is where you feel like you're supposed to act or be a certain thing, but in your eyes you're failing to be that thing.

Anxiety is paranoia that you're not wanted or inferior. You feel awkward. Someone is near you in work and you feel obliged to talk but this just ensures you say nothing out of fear that it will sound forced.
User avatar #29 to #28 - darksideofthebeast (08/29/2013) [-]
I have anxiety over my heart.
So I don't think its only what you think...
#96 to #28 - anon (08/30/2013) [-]
To me anxiety feels like I am being controlled not to do something, like my brain takes too long to make up its mind about if I shouldn't or should, I feel dwarfed in large groups and tend to separate myself from the group vegas far as I can be and confine myself in total solitude.
#112 to #96 - anon (08/30/2013) [-]
Meant as far as I can, not vegas far as I can

I feel this way all the time. I have to know a person very well before I am able to talk to them with out thinking about it, especially if I am attracted to them or I feel like they are superior to me.

now some half brain is gonna make a religion out of it. yay
#59 to #35 - zacsuntibidea (08/30/2013) [-]
Requires at least 3/4ths of a brain to make a religion. The half-brains are the ones that almost understand it and make it prolific.

I was looking at anxiety cures without drugs and i found this sort of program you buy and download and the introduction was hella long. Basically, it claimed that anxiety is from ancient civilizations where humans hunted and had to keep alert from other barbaric people. Since our lives are so peaceful and easy in a way, we have a problem with throwing away the anxiety that used to help us before. It's an interesting theory.

You need to login to view this link

Aha. Found it. Good Luck. You have to complete the quiz first so they give you your level of anxiety or something.
User avatar #169 to #167 - ilovescake (08/30/2013) [-]
Many thanks! I'll let you know if it's any good if I decide to buy it.

Didn't try it (yet). It's like 70 bucks. You should try it out though, I just don't wanna spend my money on that right now. I actually found it from a "Do You Have Anxiety Quiz" and then the product popped up afterwards. Google around and you'll be sure to find it.

I myself have anxiety and it ******* sucks. When I was younger and didn't have treatment for it I couldn't even order my food at a restaurant I just froze up and my parents would have to order for me. I didn't get my license til I turned 18 due to stress of diving and it still stresses me out and whenever I'm put into a difficult, stressful situation I can't handle it and I break down. Just recently I was applying for community college and they where telling me about classes and all the stuff I need to do to get enrolled and I was so scared that when I went back to my car I just felt like crying. Anxiety is a terrible thing to have.

It's okay, man. There are plenty of us who've gone through it, too. I had the same reaction when applying for community college! Anxiety should just gtfo.

Yes. This person posted about their personal mental disability online without anyone asking, I feel if he wants to tell people about his life, others should be able to scrutinize it any way they feel.

I have empathy, but no pity. May I add; my comment was simply advising him not to reproduce for the sake of humanity. I understand telling him this will not solve very many problems and may even cause more, however it is a step in the Utopian direction.

Everybody says that I'm a smart guy and a possible genius, but here I am in my first day of college after leaving American Hydraulic for a brighter future, and I end up having to suppress a total nervous breakdown in the first class.

The work was easy, but it's been 3 years since I left highschool- and this place has no one that I know, I got lost easily, I didn't know what to expect; therefore I couldn't predict my environment. I feel very feeble and powerless in a place where I don't know how everything rolls or how the people think.
My mind was racing a million thoughts per minute, too damned shy to speak a word other than saying my name for attendance keeping, and my body still as a statue for the duration of 3 hours in class.

When i got home all i could do was sleep, and I got my homework done in about an hour after waking up. Not a pleasant experience...

THIS MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE!
There are a lot of people with anxiety nowadays because there was a HUGE ASS Boom in population in the last century.
#43 to #32 - anon (08/30/2013) [-]
No. It makes no sense, because there's no such thing as souls or reincarnation and no evidence to even hint at the existence of either.

it could just as easily be the other way around, with new incarnations being excited to get into the world and experience things, while older incarnations have already experienced it and no longer wish to be a part of it.

User avatar #17 to #16 - tormain (08/29/2013) [-]
Why are all the common religions that we have currently all so boring. I would join the greek, roman, norse or old Egyptian faith just because of the awesome stories and overal lore.
People used to be like: '' man we gotta keep Poseidon happy because if we piss him of he's gonna send them krakens to ******* eating us all''.
The end of the day I still would buy any of that crap but at least it would seem badass

Yeah or stuff like The Drowned God in Game of Thrones or Kali Goddess of Torture and Misery in The Night Angel Trilogy.

how not to sound like a pseudo intellectual:
1.Do not put forward theories that you can not prove neither rationally or empirically.
2.Do not put forward theories that explain one single phenomenon, the only valid theories are the ones that are simple and at the same time can be extrapolated to a multitude of events.
3.Do not visit tumblr
