I appreciate the application of rationality to the problem, I really do. But the only thing that can defeat Ganondorf's black sorcerery is the Master Sword. Link isn't "destined to kill Ganondorf," he's destined to wield the sword. The Gorons are badass, but Ganondorf is basically Sauron. Getting rid of his physical form doesn't stop the bad things from happening without the Master Sword in the equation. We saw this in Twilight Princess. They banished his ass to another goddamn dimension, and he still found a way to wreak havoc.

Skyward Sword showed us that the spirit of Ganondorf/Ganon is a manifestation of an elder evil, a darkness from before the three goddesses ever sang the world into being. Main strength, no matter how impressive, would not thwart Ganondorf for long. Only the Sword of Evil's Bane could put Ganondorf to rest, and the Gorons have no one who could wield it.

In before "lurl you aren't getting that it's a joke."

I get that it's a joke. But it's a joke made by a nerd for other nerds. That means it needs to be funny to nerds. This made me grin for second, but the "that's not right" part of me, the part of me that makes me a nerd, didn't laugh, because, well. It wasn't right.

tl;dr, would have been better if the last panel was a Goron wielding the Master Sword, still stuck in the stone pedestal, like a club, chasing Ganondorf across Hyrule.

Good analyzing of the situation! The comic is funny, but it still lacks the lore of the story, so people who do not actually understand it would get the inferred joke, nor the fact that it is only funny because it is impossible.

That last sentence reminded me of Magicka. Running around with Excalibur, using it as a warhammer because the rock is still attached.

you can also do it with a bottle. your argument is invalid
User avatar #29 to #28 - vannman (08/24/2013) [-]
Expanding upon that. beating ganondorf with a bottle
User avatar #50 to #29 - qazlord (08/24/2013) [-]
but he still killed him with the master sword and when he was using the bottle it was to play tennis with some ball of energy the would weaken him to be shot with an enchanted arrow
User avatar #51 to #50 - vannman (08/24/2013) [-]
considering that he can be hurt with a bottle, i think that any old sword could **** him up.
User avatar #52 to #51 - qazlord (08/24/2013) [-]
all the bottle could do was deflect energy
User avatar #53 to #52 - vannman (08/24/2013) [-]
Thats very true, however its never tested if a regular sword could do damage on him, he looks really weak when he gets ****** by the energy and the arrow that perhaps a regular sword would be enough. all purely hypothetical of course and considering its a video game using the sword you use as a child would probably crash the game. futhermore i was never agreeing with anon or disagreeing i was simply showing what he ment. also you probably want to claw your eyes out at the horendus spelling and grammer that you just witnessed, my apolgies german is my first language.
User avatar #54 to #53 - qazlord (08/24/2013) [-]
i thought it was written by the gods in like time and space or something that ganondorf could only be killed by the mastersword which was also like the gods only defense against him
User avatar #55 to #54 - vannman (08/24/2013) [-]
They could of atleast tried it instead of waiting 7 ******* years.
User avatar #56 to #55 - qazlord (08/24/2013) [-]

I always wondered about the mindset thing.. Like, when Link grows up does he immediately mature (mentally) and think like an adult or does he just become some kind of manchild? And if he does gain the mind of an adult, when he returns to being young link for events like the bottom of the well will he be an adult trapped in a kid's body?

he still runs around making those battle shouts, just deeper.

still breaks every pot he sees.

still throws bombs at everything.

id say manchild.

Can someone please explain the child/adult timelines in OoT, I've never played any of the games because i didn't have any of those systems but i'm interested and the internet doesn't help me.

Ok, and what is the child timeline
#31 to #27 - qchrisman has deleted their comment [-]
User avatar #33 to #31 - maradon (08/24/2013) [-]
It is the initial timeline which starts with skyward sword. After OOT is when the tree splits three different ways.
#34 to #33 - qchrisman (08/24/2013) [-]
I know that and I get the seven years later but in the child timeline, what happens to the timeline, since he goes back in time
User avatar #35 to #34 - maradon (08/24/2013) [-]
Same as always, child link gets the majoras mask and stops the lost boy from killing everything/ gannon is executed but breaks back into reality through twilight princess but is stopped again, then vaati becomes gannons reincarnation
User avatar #37 to #35 - maradon (08/24/2013) [-]
The going back and forth 7 years only applies in OOT. It is needed to obtain certain things before the world gets destroyed that you dont know you need til after you go forward the first time.
#38 to #37 - qchrisman (08/24/2013) [-]
Ok, i got it now, thank you, kind stranger

Basically there are 3 links.
One of them failed miserably. He died. And ganon went on to succeed in his plans. This turns into link to the past, and zelda 2. Etc etc
Another one succeeds in the future and sends the kid into the past. This past kid get's to live a happy go lucky life without ganon. He goes on to majoras mask. And then after ganon is freed in twilight princess, he kicks his ass again.
The final one, is a seperate world without link. Since Zelda sent him back to his old timeline as a child, the world where adult link SHOULD be, now has absolutely no hero. It's dark, still destroyed by all of ganons old magic, and when ganon returns in that world, he ***** it up because link isn't there. This causes the king to flood hyrule, and wind waker begins.

BTW for those of you who are interested. Link is 12 when h's a kid and 19 when he's an adult. It's official in the Windwaker strategy guide
User avatar #46 to #43 - mutzaki (08/24/2013) [-]
Another official statement says that young Link is 9 and "adult" Link is 16.
User avatar #49 to #46 - OoJesusoO (08/24/2013) [-]
It says it was an idea, but I'm not sure if that means if that's true or not. In Wind Waker, boys on Outset Island were supposed to wear garments that were similar to that of the Hero of Time on their 12th birthday since that was the age of the hero of time as well. There was a quote in there but I can't find it. It's the basic meaning though.
#40 - anon (08/24/2013) [-]
"Adult" Link is actually still a child.

I could be wrong about this but the benefits of possessing the Triforce of power is

1: Ungodly Physical Strength
2: Unlimited Inner Strength
3: I wanna say Immortality but I'm uncertain how Reincarnation works the way it does
