I really have to fight the urge to disagree with anything that man says on principle because he's a bigoted asshole who tries to hide prejudice with bravado. He's smart, yes, but come on man; live and let live! Don't go picking fights just for the sake of stroking your ego!

Live and let live is fine, but when someone picks a fight with a group which is constantly producing individuals who have absolutely no intention of abiding by the concept of 'live and let live' I think it's rather justified.

What's more, the people you're referring to are merely a vocal minority. Religion doesn't produce ******** , humanity does; religion is merely a method for some assholes to express their intolerance.

But to respond directly to your point, religion teaches that inequality and intolerance are OK. You're either saying that this fact is ******** , or that no one listens to religious teachings.

I am saying that "fact" is ******** . And claiming that humanity produces assholes is not a justification, merely an observation and a defense of the majority of very sane people who happen to also believe.

Yes but that argument is the equivalent of saying 'Hey! If everyone else is doing this degenerative thing, I guess we can do it too!'

If you have to use the worst examples of humanity to defend your point, I don't see that as much of a defence.

This was after claiming that people who can't quote the bible properly aren't Christian.

I've heard a lot of his stuff about this topic and while I see what your point is, he's not wrong. The point he's making isn't that people who can't quote the bible ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE CHRISTIANS in such a way. His point is that a lot of people, when given a survey on their religion will say they are Christian, even if they don't believe in god.

This is a big problem in England specifically, and it IS a problem because it means that higher ups in the C of E are getting power based off of the fact that people are, in their ignorance, identifying as Christian.
Essentially, it's like voting for someone who you don't even know.

If you do some research you'll find that he IS wrong though. Fossils found "out of place" really wouldn't mean much.

Plus he turned to religion during his final days so he's also a hypocrite. But hey, I suppose when you need a spokesman for teenagers, getting someone who is just as fake as our feelings works well right?

******* **** I wish people would actually learn about what they believe in than preach it to others.
