I hated you at the moment because I have feared that all the Pokephiles would show up because you posted a glaringly large pic of Ralts.

But seeing as how nothing bad has happened, my hatred for you has long since dissipated.

I honestly don't know why all of these are put together. 2 of them were books, 1 a tv show, and 1 a trilogy of movies. Other than the fact that they all have fanatic fanbases they are nothing alike. If they are all brought together by that someone could put loads of other stuff in there. Avatar, Star Trek, MLP, hell even Twilight.

User avatar #48 to #45 - megustan (08/21/2013) [-]
They said Doctor Who doesn't come close to etc.
Pretty much saying that doesn't make sense, cause it's a good show.
But then again, hard to compare a tv show to movies.
In retrospect, bad comment on my part.
#50 to #48 - greeling (08/21/2013) [-]
Well, both HP and LoTR are book series originally.
His point was that in terms of quality, many would say that Doctor who is worse than the other three.
#51 to #50 - megustan (08/21/2013) [-]
Yeah, but they both transitioned fairly well into movies, unlike some other books that I know of.
I'm not sure that it would be in terms of quality, as much as it would be the amount of hype that Doctor Who gets.
People blow it out of the water, making it seem like it's the greatest thing on the planet.
It's a good show, but it's certainly isn't that good.
I mean, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings both have hype too.
But people really don't go around with diarrhea of the mouth about them like with Doctor Who.

That was the point that he was trying to make.
Many would think that Doctor who is not in the same league as the others.

That's kind of iffy because DW actually dates very far back, even father than Star Wars, and was actually well-liked enough by science-fiction enthusiasts

That being said, I'm pretty sure most self-proclaimed "whovians" don't even watch the very first Doctor, or go farther back than the 9th one, or even read any of the print stories that were written around the show. Star Trek would probably fit better in its place, but then again none of these "elements" have any form of correlation whatsoever other than the fact they're science fiction - all the while not having any sort of similarity to their sub-genre.

Yeaaah, because taking some cheesy ass show with a script that's interesting on basis of 1 episode per season, and comparing it with 3 all-time legendary movie series is a good idea.

What's next, shove my gay dumbass pony into there?
User avatar #32 - yetiyitties (08/21/2013) [-]
Why is Dr. Who there? Should have put an actual classic, not a show that recently got a cult following from all of Tumblr and Reddit.
User avatar #86 to #32 - thesilence (08/21/2013) [-]
Doctor Who's been a massive pop culture icon in Britain for 50 years now. It's not just a Tumblr fad, though those bandwagoners do get on my nerves.

Not really a whovian, but classic Dr. Who had a pretty huge cult following before the new one came out. For reference see: The episode of Kids Next Door where the nerds pretend to get kidnapped so they can watch a Dr. Timespace and the Continuums marathon without bullies. Which, for reference, came out before the reboot.

I don't watch Doctor Who, but I know my dad who is 42/43 now (I'm awful with remembering peoples ages, even my own families) was a huge fan of Doctor Who since it first came out. The cult following isn't just a recent thing
User avatar #37 to #33 - yunablade (08/21/2013) [-]
I have always thought more "back to the future" than "doctor who" when someone references time travel.

And I might get red thumbs... but I did tried watching doctor who and I can't get into it... I know it originally started as a low budget tv show... but why does it still look like a low budget (started watching from the "new gen doctor" ones, 9th doctor right)? the effects look real cheap and frakly the dialog isn't really good.

not that I agree.
#97 to #58 - Rascal (08/21/2013) [-]
So? Racism has been around longer then Harry Potter as well, do you suggest we add that to? Is that what you want? The four elements: the force, precious, racism and wizardry?
#126 to #58 - Rascal (08/21/2013) [-]
So what?

Hitler was born before you, was he a better and more "classical" man than you?
That's a ****** logic.... that being said, Hitler was probably quite a lot smarter than you.

The general opinion is that LOTR, Star Wars, and Harry Potter are far more better. Dr. Who while being old, has only recently got a powerful following from faggots on Tumblr and Reddit.

You want a classic show that got a strong fan base from the beginning? Star Trek! Personally I'm not a fan, but it's still a classic show, had a far more powerful following than than Doctor Who when it began many years ago, and far more interesting than Doctor Who.

Doctor Who.... HA!
