oh my god you just reminded me one of my worst memories as a kid.
my sisters and me ate those little sausages things, while my mom was doing the dishes and talking on the phone, when I began to choke from one those those sausages. so I ran to my mom and started hitting her on the back so she would turn around, but instead she just said "mom is busy now, come back later ok?" without even ******* turning.

Feels. Picture is not me.
>Be eighteen, three years ago.
>Just moved back to the US.
>Go to a couple local churches for free food and whatnot.
>One church, every other Sunday, has Metal Gospel.
>Soccer moms singing along and **** . I'm not religious, but I love it.
>Meet the singer, this guy- pic related.
>Become quick friends, we're both tattooed and pierced, and have wicked beards.
>Just kidding I definitely don't have a beard. I'm a lady.
>After I lose my job, him and his wife and kids take me in.
>Tell them my story;(homeless for a few years, drugs, trouble, etc.)
>Get back on my feet and move away.
>Three years later move back to Texas. (Few months ago)
>Find dude and his wife in downtown Austin one evening.
> ******* surprised.
>Find out he started Lost & Found Ministries, caters to the homeless in Austin. He sings with them, feeds them, clothes them. But he never shoves religion down their throats. He brings the junkies clean needles, knows he can't get them to stop, but at least wants to make sure they don't get diseases. Watched him trade shoes with some kid, his $90 nikes for some donated tennies.
>Go out with them and participate in donating and spending time with the homeless.
>feels.jpg
>We go out to eat afterwards. Tells me about how he's selling his house and buying the land behind it, to start building a campsite, for the homeless kids, get them cleaned up and working.
>Ask him how they got into this, they tell me it's because of me.
> ***************** .png
>I take a bus down to Austin every week to participate now.

tl;dr: The best people I've ever known have been ******* metal.
#465 to #186 - anon (08/19/2013) [-]
I know this guy has good intentions, but giving needles to drug addicts is a real **** idea. It's like, I know I can't stop you. So why not help you out and encourage you.
User avatar #466 to #465 - stagger (08/19/2013) [-]
He doesn't see it as encouraging. I was conflicted about it for a while too. He wants to keep them from sharing diseases. A lot of them have staph, which is really contagious, among other things. If you think about it, no matter what they're going to get high, so why not have a cleaner way to do it?
#461 to #186 - anon (08/19/2013) [-]
You know that kid probably got jumped and beat up because of those $90 sneakers.
User avatar #462 to #461 - stagger (08/19/2013) [-]
I highly doubt it, the kid he gave them to is known as "Crazy Carlos" and we're not even sure if that's his real name. I've seen that kid inject heroine into his neck and then kick the **** out of a trashcan.
If he would've asked for my shoes, he prolly would of gotten them, and not out of the goodness of my heart, out of ******* fear.
#463 to #462 - anon (08/19/2013) [-]
If he's a bad kid. Then he probably didn't really deserve those sneakers.
User avatar #467 to #463 - stagger (08/19/2013) [-]
It's not a matter of deserving them. As a kid I highly doubt his dream was to grow up and be a dysfunctional homeless junkie, it's a matter of taking care of people that can't take care of themselves. These homeless kids, take care of each other like nothing I've ever seen before, they're closer than any family I've ever met, and most of them didn't end up this way by choice.
You know when you get presents on your birthday, and when you're opening them you're super ******* excited? Or Christmas morning?

To these kids, a burrito and a pair of socks is ******* Christmas. I don't care if he deserved them or not. If they were $10 or $90 shoes, he still needs shoes.

Reminds me of that woman who judges children on their first name. 'Oh no, you can't play with him, his name is Tyda for god's sake!'

And the best part was the other, elder woman yelling 'Listen to yourself! You judge children! On their first name!'. And the bitch didn't understand what she was trying to say.

it does kind of make sense though
I read a study about how people (in Belgium) that belong to the... uh... "lower intelligence class" usually give their children short names that end in Y
like Rudy, Kenny, Cindy, stuff like that
#306 to #6 - anon (08/19/2013) [-]
There's nothing wrong with assuming they're lower class, as you said there are studies that show this. This bitch is showing that people with these names are bad people, that's just sick and retarded.
#7 to #6 - insanefreak ONLINE (08/18/2013) [-]
Well, I'm Belgian, and I have to say that I know a bunch of people in the lower classes of society, but they don't end with a 'y'. Most of the girl names end with an 'a' though (Nora, Shana, Laura, Jana, ...), but for the guys, I can't really spot a pattern.
User avatar #8 to #7 - fuzzyballs (08/18/2013) [-]

what a cunt "india is not a location" ITS A ******* COUNTRY FOR ***** SAKE
User avatar #12 to #2 - nylak (08/18/2013) [-]
I'm with fuzzyballs; there's usually a reason for those prejudices, even if they're often unfair.

In the US, it's pretty easy to spot names that are usually associated with "lower class" or lower income families. Studies show that across all races and ethnicities, there are certain letter combinations that are more likely to be given by high-school-drop-out moms. Among white families, Alexandra may be spelled Alekzandra; the “kz” combo is almost never seen in upper or middle-class families. For African Americans, it may mean use of the prefix “Sha” rather than the more highly regarded “La.”

A "bad" name will follow a child for its entire life; it affects how people react to them and treat them throughout their educational career, and even affects how employable they are later in life.
User avatar #13 to #12 - fuzzyballs (08/18/2013) [-]
it's also because children will get more or less chances according to parents
you know, like how a doctor would push his son to study more and become a doctor or lawyer or something like that, while regular people don't really care as long as their children don't end up in the gutter
and having an alcoholic single mom as a parent will make for one dumb grown-up some day
User avatar #15 to #13 - nylak (08/18/2013) [-]
Actually, those studies I mentioned also examined siblings; there was one case I recall of two twin (fraternal, not identical, but still, you know, raised together), where one had a more linguistically "feminine" name, and she had more difficulty in school in the areas of math and science and had more difficulty finding a job later in life than her sister, who had a more androgynous name. A single instance, but there were a whole bunch in the same vein that were cited.
User avatar #16 to #15 - fuzzyballs (08/18/2013) [-]
anyways, thanks for agreeing with me

Don't teach kids about how god exists, and don't teach them about how god doesn't exist, just teach them about the world. They'll make up their minds on what to believe in on their own. Teach them what "Gods" are, an tell them how it's not fact nor are any religion's "Gods".

Do that, and your child will sooner become enjoyed in science and the universe, not because you forced it but because the Human mind is so curious.

******* hell guys, you got this comic all wrong.

He's a good parent because he's caring for his child, and he's spending real time with her. This is because he's a good person, not because he's a metalhead. He might have an odd appearance, but inside he's a good person.

This does not mean any of the following:

-Metalheads make better parents
-'Normals' (God I hate the degree of separation that comes with this as a piece of terminology) make worse parents
-Metalheads are discriminated against in First World Countries.

1) A person's taste in music has no bearing on how good they are a person or as a parent

2) Metalheads ARE normal people. Taste in music is just a thing, it's no reason to consider yourself rejected by society.

3) This is the worst one. You may think that people are ********* to you because you like metal, but they're ********* to you because they're just ********* . To quote a little band named Slipknot, People= **** . People will find something to give you **** about all the time. Whether it's taste in music, gender, race, creed, religion etc... People like to find something about you that they can rip into you about, and proceed to be a ******** to you. Don't let it get to you, and don't do this whole "Metalheads VS Normals" **** because that makes it worse. The majority of non metal fans I've met actually find my taste in music interesting. I've never been branded a Satanist or a Devil Worshipper or any of that other **** that people like to believe they're given hell for. Embrace the 'normals' and they'll embrace you. If you go on about all the times people have discriminated against you for being a metalhead, then they'll think that you LIKE being discriminated against. Just don't let it bother you. We've gotta share this planet, let's try and get along yeah?

I love the butthurt comments about how the metalheads' kid's gonna be messed up when she grows up.

1. That's not the point of the post. The point is that "normal" people are usually hypocritical, judgmental assholes.
2. Have you ******* heard what older metal sings about? For ****** sake, Dio sings about rainbows and unicorns. Literally. Stuff like MLP would be more damaging to her brain than that, all things considered.

There was a family I helped served once (I'm a waitress), and the guy had long dreads and tattoos.
At a glance I assumed the worst, but when I went to see if they needed anything, he was talking with his kids about school and everything a good parent would.
