The same reason some people find skinny/fat people more attractive than the other.

It's called preference.

I've always found untanned girls more attractive, but no one ever told me some girls are the same way about guys. That makes me wonder what else I don't know.

It depends on the person.

For example, a hairy body and pale skin does not usually go well together.
And a pale body with very noticeable veins is also not so attractive in most peoples eyes.

Also, if you are acne prone, then milky white skin makes it more noticeable.

I would say that pale skin is very good looking on a person with clear skin, and not a lot of body hair.

But this is just my opinion. Every person has his own taste.

It's a sign of wealth now. Means you don't have to work all the time (since most working these days is indoors in first world countries) and can take the time to go outdoors and such.

Also it's a sign of being healthy and getting good amounts of vitamin D and other good stuff. So it's a biological thing generally, but also the money thing, since it used to be attractive to never have the sun touch your skin, because everybody other than royals had to work in the sun.

This is what my religion teacher told me and I agree 100% back in pre jesus time (no clue when i think around book of judges) being very white and a little fat was being attractive.

I think someone already said it but it isn't that it is super hot or sexy it's just that it is more attractive than looking like sour cream.

Well, up until the industrial revolution being white as bleach was the thing. Then all the poor people who had to do **** to live got all white(more grey with all that filth), and the rich people ran outside like their houses was on fire.

So yeah, it's a symbol of "I can do whatever I want, and still have money to feed three african countries."

It's not so much that being tanned is hot, it's that being pasty white is less attractive. Sun light is good for your skin (to a certain extent), it makes your skin smoother and prevents greasy skin and pimples.

That said: I never tan or go to the beach, I enjoy being a ghost.

Actually, sun exposure usually makes those with acne-prone skin worse off. The tanning process kills the outer epidermis, causing the dead skin cells to flake and become clogged in pores, leading to a buildup of sebum and over-activity of the sebaceous glands. Unless you exfoliate the dead skin cells a few times daily and use a gentle face wash to rinse the oil (the excessive use of which then ravages the skin in turn, after awhile), you're going to have a worse complexion than if you just stayed inside and used normal hygiene.

Well, it depends on the person.
I'm pale and I don't have disgusting greasy skin for being pale nor any pimples. Never really had any pimples except for a few now and then and I'm 18.

It really depends on your diet, how you take care of yourself and such.

When I tanned, I found my skin becoming more flakey and gross, I also got impure skin on my face. Like, more pimples than I've ever really had as a pale guy.

I honestly prefer paler skin, but many people who tan seem to think they need to be as dark as possible.
I also find it funny how quickly in the last 100 or so years tans pulled a complete 180 on the attractiveness scale.

In the UK they've had that for a good few years now, although to be fair, 14 year olds were using tanning beds before the law was made, ******* stupid if you ask me.

I can understand tanning beds, but why (aside from the obvious aesthetic reasons) would they ban them from fake tan?
